Ah, The Scientists - this was the stuff young music fans from the US west coast were getting on import in the 80s. It has been said that Kim Salmon was the first to use the term 'grunge' for his style of music.
him and Tex from Beasts of Bourbon...who took it as an insult, and punched the music writer, allegedly. Mudhoney knew, dont think the sleazy music biz had a clue. shit, half of Seattle didnt have a clue
new album on In The Red...Cobain missed these guys, but Mudhoney didnt. saw em in Philly a few years ago and they wouldnt be doing it if they still werent a legit band. people from all over the county came to see them display they were aging and, like the Cheater Slicks, creating their best stuff. bumped into Salmon later that night and what a great dude, get the new lp!
Great to see. Unforgettable sound from back in the day. Always put on a great show with great atmosphere. Saw them many times - mostly around Camperdown and Glebe if I got that right. Hazy - to say the least.
heard Kim Salmon's take 5 with Richard Kingsmill in 1994 on triple J in my final year of highschool and taped it . his number 1 was Spirit in the Sky and eye remember Hospital by Jonathan Richman . can't remember the rest . prolly got the tape still floating around unless someone pinched it 😊
Fantastic, seen and heard, for the first time, in the early 80's at the Lyceum in London. They were stage supporters of the Sisters of Mercy. Night to remember
Grunge came straight out of sweaty Australian Pub Rock ... that's where and even still, nobody knows a thing about it. Seattle sound is Australian Pub Rock in the 80's! Switch a fucking brain cell on ... but the kids ain't got one to flick.
Saw them supporting Hoodoo Gurus at The Tote in 1983. Both great.
GREAT band

See how good live music can be on Television?? Why wasn't and why ISN'T there more of this? And oh yeah, the Scientists are awesome.

Great preamble. Tons of truth for the whole influence thing.
We had love - rocknrolla! Didn’t know this was by them, wish I knew of these chaps sooner being born in 1981 :(
Thanks for uploading. I was there. 20 years ago!
Awesome upload, I've never known that this video existed. Brings back memories
Awesome. Last time I saw them was at the Trade Union Club. Fuck I’.m old

pity about the volume
Cool, but it's a shame the sound cuts to 1 channel.
When does it do that? I hadn't noticed. I'm pretty sure it's from an old VCR recording but can check if it was in the recording or the transfer.
Scientists no son Grunge, hostia!😅
