- Hello Vintage Neighbors!! Welcome to Part One of an update video. Part Two is coming next week. I’ve missed you all so much, and I’m excited to be back making videos again. Grab a cup of tea, and let’s bake a vintage pecan pie, and chat about what I’ve been up to!

Pecan Pie
3 eggs
1c granulated or brown sugar
1 c light corn syrup
1 c pecan halves
1 tsp vanilla
Pie crust
Beat eggs and sugar until thick, add corn syrup, nuts, and vanilla. Pour into 9 inch pastry lined pie pan. Nuts can be sprinkled over filling after pouring it into the pie crust if desired. Bake in slow oven (300 degrees F) for 1 hour.

I recently started my journey of being a full-on 1960s guy, I just bought my house that was built in 1961 and now I'm starting to collect! I was inspired by her when I saw a documentary about her in college and now I finally am starting my journey! Thank you Laci for the inspiration and hope everyone here has a happy Thanksgiving!
I am doing something similar. Last year I bought a house built in 1965 and I am slowly rolling it back to that era. I am finding carpet to be a bit of a stumbling block. Carpet stores carry every shade of gray and beige. I don't want that. I want bold, fun, 1960s colors. Unfortunately, that means you have to go with a very expensive brand like Masland. At $16 per square foot, I was only able to re-carpet one room. At least it is possible to get paint in vintage colors such as burnt orange and avocado, although there are issues even with that. I discovered that Benjamin Moore's avocado is quite a bit different from what Pantone calls avocado.

Make it every year, and ur rite the frozen pie crust is pretty good. I do use butter on my pie plate to keep it from sticking and wax paper on the bottom. I also add chocolate chips in the pie, my sister calls it “candy pie”,

I live it myself ' Cept I don't have alot of Regular Vintage Dresses 2 wear around the house like U have. I do have quite a bit of Spring/Summer Dresses. I don't have any Skirts or Blouses yet. I do love kollecting Shoes/Jewelry an my house was also built in the 1950's so I Furnished it wit Vintage pieces an Nic- nacks. I love livin the Simple Vintage Lifestyle......
I missed you! I was wondering the other day what had happened to you, glad to know it was just you being busy and nothing bad.
I like both pecan and pumpkin pie. Prefer pumpkin as I feel pecan can be sickly sweet. I've actually been using your pecan topped pumpkin pie recipe from Cooking Magic for the past couple of Thanksgivings and Christmas's. It's a hit with my parents because you get a little bit of both pie flavors at once. And I just use store bought pie crust because I am NOT making pastry dough haha. I'm really not good at baking/cooking yet so I just use store bought as much as I can and kinda toss things together. That's another reason I like the recipe...you just toss it all in a bowl and mix it all up, pour it in the pie crust and bake. Easy as...well pie!

Also surprised to hear you came up to my neck of the woods. I live in a suburb South of Seattle. Us hitting 90s is rare, and for as long as it was too was very rare...bad time to visit lol. I don't handle heat well and usually it's fine here because we don't have horrible summers but...yeah it's just getting hotter every year.

I know you might get comments like this a lot, but people of my generation only know what the 50’s are because of a video game called ‘fallout’ and it reintroduced a bunch of 50’s 40’s styles and lifestyle to the modern era.
I am hooked on 50’s stuff now! Music! The furniture! Everything functional and also beautiful! Absolutely adore the aesthetic.

Oh my my mom had a very similar mixer when I was a kid in the 70s. Worked well for everything except thick cookie dough. Nice memory!
