Their concerts are insane and they're touring in Europe right now. I expect they will be in North America later this year. The group is at the stage where most groups start to wind down. The two oldest members will be 30 this year, but they renewed their contracts last year so they're along way from over. They have a solid fan base which is mostly outside of Korea (because rock isn't popular there) and they know exactly what fans like and want. They always deliver. They know they will never be huge like Twice or BTS, but Gahyeon, the maknae, said something that really applies to the whole group. She said, 'there's no point in trying to get people who don't like me, to like me. I just take good care of my people'. Dreamcatcher take very good care of InSomnia.

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
"Reason" is the fan-song for Dreamcatcher's 6th anniversary. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of them. They're flexing their rock and vocal muscles, while all three rappers make an appearance. InSomnia might be lifting them up, but they should know, they are also carrying us. Happy 6th anniversary, Dreamcatcher!

I wouldn't be surprised if the animations were done by a fan, I seem to recognize the style. Whoever did them, they did a great job. I see the book from the Nightmare arc, the mask from Scream, the gun from R.o.S.E Blue, the gagged bust from Boca, the cup from Odd Eye, the hand through the mirror from Good Night and the clock from Piri.
Musically, I am in heaven. I'm a metalhead and I love the song. AND THAT RIFF! 🤘🎸 Obviously the song is an absolute anthem!

Hey guys, thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher's Reason. I just wanted to give you some information on the group since you're looking at doing more of their music. I apologize for the info dump ahead of time.
As you said, the fandom name is InSomnia, which is a combination of the English word In and the Latin word Somnia which means Dreams. The name represents that Dreamcatcher and their fans are always together in their dreams. The fandom often jokes that the name also means insomnia, in the general definition of the word, because we don't sleep on Dreamcatcher or can't sleep because of their antics. The MV combines scenes from their career with an animation that represents the struggle that Dreamcatcher has faced. The hooded figure at the end is a representation of InSomnia. The robe and the light stick they have are official merchandise for the group and you'll often see their fans sporting both at concerts.
Reason is their 3rd official fan song that was released for their 6th anniversary. You were right that the clips show their journey and that they've experienced a lot of hardship throughout their career. Dreamcatcher hasn't always been Dreamcatcher, 5 of the 7 members were originally a different group called Minx that debuted in 2014. Minx had a stereotypical sound for the time. Due to several factors including mismanagement and an oversaturated market, Minx didn't manage to secure a footing in the Korean market and after an unsuccessful comeback in 2015 the group was disbanded in late 2016. Instead of cancelling the girls' contracts, Happyface Entertainment decided to re-debut them instead, adding two new member, Handong & Gahyeon. Dreamcatcher re-debuted on January 13th (a Friday), 2017 with the single album Nightmare and their debut song Chase Me. The new sound was heavily influenced by J-Rock and their concept was horror themed with each of the members representing a fear or phobia. At this time, Rock was almost completely unheard of in K-Pop and the horror-based girl groups were non-existent. These changes allowed Dreamcatcher to stand out in the market and has allowed them to steadily grow throughout their careers.
While rock influences have become more prevalent in K-pop, the genre is still not very popular among the Korean general public which has led to Dreamcatcher having a much larger fanbase internationally than a lot of other groups. Despite Dreamcatcher's international success they struggled to secure a music show win in Korea for many years, finally receiving a win for their song Maison on April 20th, 2022, 1924 days after debut. At this time, they still hold the record for the longest time between debut and a music show win for a girl group (not counting groups that never won and disbanded). This first win shows up in the song during the bridge when they're all in the brown outfits.
Dreamcatcher has an incredibly diverse discography that covers dozens of genres and sub-genres though their title tracks always have a core of rock or metal. If you want to hear some of their heavier songs, then you can check these out.

it's a fan song, 6th anniversary gift to their fans. since you mentioned the fandom 'insomnia'... the starting caption 'because of insomnia, dreamcatcher exists' should have given it away 😅. they are also much older than typical girl groups. the oldest is going to be 30 this year. there's just a lot of elements that make them the black sheep, the feel good underdog story in kpop where you sometimes hear so many negative stories about the industry but never even the slightest negative vibes with dreamcatcher. I know this isn't the greatest starting point if you know nothing about dreamcatcher. all I can say is this song and the video brought a lot of fans to the point of tears.
dreamcatcher usually releases their title tracks in themed series. the last completed trilogy is the apocalypse trilogy - maison, vision, and bon voyage. a lot of their songs have some kind of social commentary, sometimes very obvious, other times very abstract. they also often have inspirational songs, a reflection of themselves in a sense. you can try 'endless night' as an example.
Love seeing you guys give dreamcatcher a chance :) they're an older group by K-pop standards with the eldest being born in 1994 and youngest 1999.
5 out of 7 have been around in K-Pop since 2014 but their group (Minx) was unsuccessful - it followed a more cutesy concept that didn't stick out enough in the K-pop scene at the time.
They redebut with two new members in January 2017 as Dreamcatcher but this time they almost stuck out too much and was definitely not looked upon highly by the mainstream K-pop industry for a long time, they only recently got the more mainstream K-Pop recognition in 2022 after 8 years for the original group and 5 years for their current group Dreamcatcher.
Not to mention the time spent training before their first debut in 2014, they have been trying hard for a very long time.
Wow. Good for them! I love to see people persevering despite failures, and eventually finding their success. I’m still holding on to that hope for myself!
