Thanks Joel I have been watching yours and Amelia's travel for a while now. And has in spires me to take my own year long adventure around south east asia next year.. your youtube videos have been soo helpful in everything to help organise my trip.. cheers Nick maybe I'll see you guys on the road..
I've been running the Pakt backpack because of the bevy of amazing reviews, and although I do really like it, the clamshell design does have pros and cons, so I'ma try this Shelter backpack and decide from there
The shelter backpack is great, it is spacious. You can use it for 2 days away and you can use it for a whole month away. But you have to keep some things in mind. Beginning at the bottom. The elastic bands aren’t that elastic so a normal 3 person tent is not going to fit in. I used extra ropes to tie my tent onto it. Then the hipbelt. It is a good hipbelt you can tie it really tight but it isnt to cushiony. So you don’t wanna have a wrinkle in your pant right underneath because you’re gonna feel it. Then the hidden pocket. It is really hidden so I have a airtag in it. But you dont put your phone in it. Because when you fill your backpack the space gets cramped and you cant really reach it with ease anymore. So you can put your passport in it but only when your not going to use it as fast. The pack itself is great well build and really strong. The meshpockets are really big but also elastic. I really like that. The side pockets are really nice but when you first fill up your bag and then want to put something in you could fit in before. It sometimes doesn’t fit anymore because of the wardrobe system. So put in the side pockets first then the wardrobe. The raincover is nice to have but cant go over the daypack and is a really tight fit when you have the backpack fully packed with shoes in the extra pocket. The pack is also with the wardrobe a bit on the heavy side. The wardrobe is 660grams and the bakcpack 1,45kg. And last but not least. The shoulderbelts, they are also not to puffy so with a heavy load you can feel them. All in all is still really like this bag. It is spacious and you can use it for all your travel. But it has some flaws. So @tropicfeel if you want some improvements hit me up hahah.
The Packt backpack is a terrible design. The clamshell can be limiting, but what makes it even worse is the laptop sleeve limits what you can pack internally. I would actually cut it out.
@@kurtthecat3995 I used to love the fact my laptop was protected on both sides in the pakt. Im trying the xPac Haize Project 38 this year, and its nice but I do kinda miss the clamshell design
Hey, great info and thank you. QQ; what big does Em use? I have found sometimes these bags are too big and can be uncomfortable as someone who is under 5’3. Thanks
How did you find it? I’ve seen some people say the straps weren’t too comfy compared to others. There’s not that many reviews so would be good to know! :)
Will you be doing a bag review now you've been using it a while? One thing I noticed was that it doesn't lock as the top part (secured by a clip) gives access to the whole bag :)@@Joelfriend
Kind of worrying that Tropicfeel do not offer different sizes. As can be seen at 0:55, this backpack is definitely not fitting you correctly. Any experienced hiker will tell you that.
3:00 mate.. at least make an onest review. Why cut there ? Show how those shoes really looks under the bag cause there is no way that theire fit there easily:)
I'm in the middle of an 8 month SEA trip and I use the 30L "Pakt" backpack, so I'd say 40L is enough. I use the same amount of clothing as shown in the video, but I also carry a drone, a VR headset, a dualscreen laptop (w/external keyboard), a hammack, a bluetooth speaker, and other random stuff Sometimes when I accumulate too much new clothe, I'll put some in my Matador freerain22. It is useful when needed and then packs up tiny, I also use that for groceries, day-trips, etc. That being said, my pack is too full right now lol
I filmed this 5 months ago, and the lifestraw water bottle is a lot better you can feel you can trust with more water sources, and for some reason I can’t charge it now
@@JoelfriendThank you! Btw my boyfriend and I love your channel! Please keep making these travel videos, it’s inspiring and informative for us fellow travelers 😊❤
Heyy! Thank you so much for your nice videos!! I am going to Sri Lanka in less than a month and thank god I found your channel! I think I will buy the lifestraw water bottle but is it safe to drink from the sink still? Like did you have any health problems from using this bottle? Thanks in advance for your answer.
I find myself enjoying your videos. Stay safe on your trips!

These type of videos are amazing. Travel tips away from actual travelling also help!
Glad you like them!
Great video my dude! Was wondering about those zip off pants you mentioned ?

Do you have a link to the snorkelling goggles please ?
Here is link to a very similar mask, I can't find the other one amzn.to/3tcSDgh
It is a very good and €300 is a lot of money
Actually about 400€ with the accessories... Split between Shelter and the bigger bag from AEVOR, which is tons cheaper.
Where can I get that map on your wall ??
You can get the map here on amazon, I love it! - amzn.to/3uPMc3o
Can you please share link for the Zip Off Hiking Trousers?

Emilia used 40L bag on this trip which is a bit smaller, but this Shelter bag is similar size but can extend if needed :)
Where are you going soon? I am leaving in february too :)
I am currently in Sri Lanka, with Maldives and Sri Lanka series coming next! Then not sure after that :)
@@Joelfriend Come to Thailand next
@@RickyMau97I'm in Thailand right now, was island hopping about 3 months and in BKK now, leaving for PH in 3 days
any numbers about the wardrobe size after the compression ? tropicfeel site declares data only in the standard position.
It really gets 20% smaller. I tested it fully packed. So about 48cm
Hi! How do you access your camera with this backpack? Is it possible tp access the camera from the sides? I have a small Camera Cube from Tropicfeel
Do you prefer it to the osprey bags?
I personally haven't used an osprey bag but love the look of this bag with the wardrobe works really well for me!
Is it good for daily use? Or to big
How did you find it? I’ve seen some people say the straps weren’t too comfy compared to others. There’s not that many reviews so would be good to know! :)
Yeah I’ve found the bag very comfortable to wear to be honest, the waist strap is good and they have straps to tighten the bag above the shoulder

Yeah. First thing i thought was that it looks really uncomfortable
It seems to me that if need to invest in Tropicfeel’s ecosystem to get the most out of this backpack.

A size 41EU which is what I wear fit perfectly in there!
is 40L enough for 4 months around SE asia?

to expensive, to heavy with all the extra pouches and the shoulder straps a fail for a bagpack with this size
