I have mixed thoughts. It's my all time favourite game, so it's kind of precious for me in many ways. I like some of the changes, and some of the areas are dead-accurate to the original look and feel (like the book assembly island) but other bits feel quite a bit "off" to me, like some of the super highly shiny surfaces on some of the machines and metal work. Some of the lighting in places feels more artificial (like in Ghen's lab, and in the red elevator hallway), and I am not a fan of the in-game character models they used instead of FMV. The original integrated animations helped make it feel more like a real tangible place, but the character models (the ones we've seen so far) feel more artificial and out of place to me. I also worry that maybe they added too much new stuff to the game? It's hard to say since I haven't seen it how those new bits are integrated into the game or in context with the environment/story yet. I will still be buying it, playing it, and very likely enjoying it. It's a huge upgrade to the low-res still images from the original game, but I think it will feel very different than the original. It's releasing June 25th (announced earlier today).

i can't see how it could have possible to use fmv characters in a fully 3d traversible environment. i don't think any game has ever done this, unless they're recording actual 3D volumes of people rather than 2D footage (which I think either doesn't exist or is just starting to be possible). not sure the cost of exploring something like that makes sense for an indie studio when mocap and the metahuman software is fairly accessible
