- let's find out whether VR really has the power to replace mundane activities like jogging by giving the ultimate test, APPLE WATCH! Can we close the rings with nothing but light saber action?
What do you think of Beat Saber? Like it enough to buy into VR?
If you want to make videos like this you need the free LIV Client software which is available on Steam :) Игры
Beat Saber is one of those games where u look really dumb playing but feel awesome doing so
Like just dance😂
tru XD
@@SandraQwer But way more than Just dance
Beatsaber is the evolved just dance
Legit any vr game
Working out in Beat Saber, for me at least, is all about over exaggerating your movements and "dancing" with the beat. You really start to feel the rhythm, and the workout becomes so natural and effortless that you don't realize you're working out. 30 mins later I'm panting, sweating, and just burned 500 calories. Just like WII Bowling, you can flick your wrist, or swing your arm. How the user interacts with the interface will directly influence your efficiency and effectiveness.
Same here. I took part in the 100k contest. I were literally playing 11hours almost straight for 5days
That's overdone exercise and it's really bad for you haha. But still
Def dancing and swinging your arms with intent to slice through the boxes hard makes it for a great workout. Just standing there and light slices wont give you a workout.
@@StopANDgoFAST Beat saber rewards you for large swings with much more points. Throw in custom Expert+ songs with big swings and you'll get a decent workout.
Yeah, it's a more effective workout if you try to go for max score, because that means doing big full arm swings to try to get >100 points per cut. If you're hitting most of the notes and only getting a B grade you're not working hard enough.
Haha, I burned 2.3k calories playing best saner for about 2-3 hours
I would think this is more interesting than exercise. Not necessarily more effective, but at least more interesting.
TheYellowKazoo Heya, remember you from spawncast
It could potentially become more accessible than the real thing.
It can be waaaay more exercise than what we are seeing in this video. Also, he hits the cubes too light and doesn't get in the 100+ score hits on average. It is more about the style of the user and how long it is played without any brakes.
Way more interesting than exercise, i cancelled my GYM and just exercise in VR now with 5 experiences.
If he was playing on Expert + then i would say yes
NihongoGamer: "I don't want to go outside ever again. Oh, I guess you have to be careful what you wish for there, huh?"
Me: *watching during Covid19*
Omg I was like 😱
Same. XD
I was literally going to write the same comment
for me i can go 2km
i was hearing that when i read ur comment lol
It's crazy how this was considered to be really hard at one point. Current beat saber levels are insane
@Martijn Scheer, van der hahahaha I was gonna say that man
Like ghost. I still cant do ghost on expert. The rest sure although I do fail occasionally on what the cat.
Right lol. I’m someone who has been playing beatsaber for almost a year and can beat every song except spin eternally in x+ now, so this just looks really slow to my eyes. I remember when it used to look fast and overwhelming though haha
Yeah, there are some levels where I physically can’t move fast enough to hit all of the blocks (looking at you When You See It).
Currently I’m trying to beat t/a/n/a/s/i/n/n. I can hit the notes for like 30 seconds but I get too tired to continue.
This stuff is still challenging for me but the only reason is that I got my Oculus today, almost tommorow and at the moment, I've been doing Thunder by Imagine Dragons.
“You could have a benefit being born taller”
You can change the height in the settings so it matches your height. How tall you are doesn’t give any advantage
*PRO TIP*
Im 5'4 half and im 11
Ok
Isn't everyone born at pretty much the same height?
Im a 5 foot shorty lol
"You're not like just exercising, you panic."
Yes you do, especially if miss one beat and it then throws your whole rhythm off.
@@LoganRogue1 More like throws your blocks everywhere 😆
Yes, i can confirm this was in the video
300th like and yes

Vr exercise is real. I've been doing 1-2hrs be per day and I've lost 25kg in 4months with no other changes in my life.
As far a workout goes, fight night>soundboxing>vr box>beatsabre>audioshield
Which one of those you think you sweat the most? Fight night is the only game I haven't tried from your list but it should be similar to Knockout League? Knockout League really got me sweating the most
would you mind sharing your vr setup? I wanted to purchase a vr kit but I'm tight on budget so I need to consider it thoroughly
The Golden Carpenter if money is a big consider for you buy a oculus. Cheaper then q vive and is basicly the same quality
Omri ringold
Room scale is much more limited than Vive’s. It requires 3 cameras and room size is much more limited
Plus I'm unsure of the full cost for room scale oculus, but you used to have to buy a third camera separate, increasing cost. Currently it’s 499 USD for full roomscale for vive
Man 2 camera room scale work perfectly don't believe everythiong you read on internet. I have rift since 10 month room 4m by 5 and my room scal work perfectly with two camera
LMAO you're so funny: "If it is real good exercise, I don't wanna go outside ever again." That's exactly my thought.
Ya, know I N T H E B A T H R O O M.
Screw outside i live in texas and its hot as balls when im barefoot at the pool on concrete and repeatedly say “TEXAS FEET”
@Trung Nguyen i bet you’re laughing now
No. You DO want to go back outside
This did not age well
my brothers got a vr and is gonna get beat saber and when we were on the boat that had a cinnema they were showing infinity war, he wanted to see it but had no money left after dreamhack, I went up to him with my 20 bucks and said "I can take you if you pay me back" his response was "you can play beatsaber as much as you want for 2 days"
That's awesome I only got 3 songs
I don’t know what’s the point of this comment but I like it
That’s nice brotherly love
M y brother lets me play vr as much as i want
8:08 "This song never ends!"
That's how I felt towards Angel Voices! Loll
DTOSX666 bruh I was doing it at expert + and I lost at 5:30
Angel voices is my warmup in the morning
I was playing it the other day on expert and I thought it was really easy for the first two thirds of the song...then I got to the last third. Need I say more
Sweet & Snazzi angel voices is pretty easy on expert depending on ur experience with other songs
Ughh 6:12 is very very long and my arms died after that
I love that while most people would simply dance to the music for added movement, your first instinct is to "move like a boxer". Can't wait to play this. :)
He says “oh no I missed one”
Me “dude you missed a ton” lol
I’m sure you would say that

Only reason ttfaf is hard is bc its literally almost 8 mins long
*Because if it is real good exercise, I don't want to go outside ever again* - My New Life Motto.
🤧😐😐😐
u did this
The best way to do this is like your using a real sword because if your hitting targets like this with a sword you won’t just be standing in one spot you will be moving to actually hit them with maximum efficiency
Considering that this is how one of our guests ended up STANDING ON THE PLAY STATION, I strictly advice against it. But it probably would be the most evective exercice.
Leaning would be better. Also, not like swords, like drumsticks. Lots of wrist, some arm, don’t move unnecessarily much. :)
Pff, of course! Everyone who's played Beat Saber on a decent level knows it's a very viable workout! 😁

This is most definitely a solid alternative to working out. You will burn more calories per minute doing this than going jogging. You won't build muscle mass, but you will shred calories. Not to mention, time flies when you're having fun, and this is a very intense workout.
Spencer Lewis
Just attatch some light weights to your arms
It’s not a fairly effective workout unless you play it nonstop.
Spencer Lewis I don’t know why everyone is saything this I can’t find any sources anywhere that day this burns as much as jogging I truly just believe every one is unfit
^^^^^
@@sshaunj2316 online it says you burn 100 calories in a mile let's say you run a 7 minutes mile (better than the average person), you need to jog for 42 minutes to burn 600 calories. At the beginning of the video it was stated that his goal was 600 calories. He burnt that in 26.5 minutes, just about 2/3 the time of jogging. So it is more efficient
don't skip legday
There is no skipping when he has to squat lmao XD
If you lower the floor adjustment on beat saber, you'll be forced to squat the rest of the game. Did that once, my legs and thighs hurt
Well I Skipped Leg Day.
don't skip armday either
Red is your goal calories burned through movement. So not calories burned just by existing (ex: sleeping or sitting watching tv).
The green circle has to do with time; it wants you to complete 30 minutes of exercise each day.
Guess I'll have to get a VR now.
George Lai the whole setup is expensive but this look soooooo fun.
@@jasmyng5494 windows mixed reality has actually gotten really good and cheap highly recommended if you don't have a big budget like me...I'm going to get one for christmas prob or just buy myself it
Crane Oculus rift is way better, its just like $100 more. And the tracking is better
@@turnai4575 you mean Vive right?
@Kreesty you mean the quest right
I got this game yesterday and have been having so much fun with it, easily my favorite VR game, and you get sweating after a few games but you can’t stop because its so fun
Ikr
The way you recorded this is so cool compared to other gameplay I’ve seen!
grumpy pancake alot of people are recording like this...
you mean like 99%?
I'm probably super late but this is thanks to some free software called LIV that can do this with a fixed camera and a greenscreen (or at least a relatively clear wall).
I suspect the green exercise bar on your watch is time based 😅
It is
You would be correct
Hahah
No please noooo
The green ring won't move unless your heart rate goes up. So it's not really based on time. He should have put no fail on on expert and dances to the music while swing for a much better workout. I use beatsaber as a cardio workout. I dance and swing thru all my songs.
I wish I had those glasses and this game but I'm broke.
same here
If you are kinda broke, Windows Mixed Reality Headsets are like half the price. If you are broke, well, nothing is free...
Needs a good computer too though ^^
^ She wished for the glasses and the game, not a computer. Maybe her computer can already handle VR?
15 bucks
Sword art online is seeming closer and closer to being possibke lol

*COVID-19* *QUARTINE*
I tried to complete Nova - Brainpower for 2 hours until i did it.
I think i've done enough for this year
I am 53, I’ve moved up to expert modes, I sweat and have a great time with this. It’s my workout time! And I also dance with the beat.
"I don't want to go outside ever again"... Coronavirus just made that come true
"this song never finish??" play angel voice "whaaaaaat this song is sooooo long"
Can I just say it's nice to see a video of someone playing this game, having a good time, who isn't a triple certified melee weapons master who effortlessly slices all block shaped enemies out of the air with ease while looking like a total ninja? I was convinced the whole world was secretly meeting up and laughing about the one guy who is just meh at this, aka me. XD
Your watch wouldn't notice, but if you wore wrist weights of weighted gloves while doing this that would definitely increase how hard you worked during the game!
It would hurt a lot. Some songs are really fast.
AliVe yeah probably, but that's kind of the point lol and think how much easier it would feel after you took then off!
Would be really bad on your wrists wouldn't recommend it honestly.
inaho orange I've actually been doing it recently with weighted shadow boxing gloves. Definitely not a problem for the wrists, but it does make gripping the controller harder and you feel it in your shoulders after a few songs. Feels great when you take them off though!
Having weight might seem like a good idea but it would be really bad for your wrists. You could have severe joint problems.
“This song never ends!” *sad Angel Voices Noises*
LOL
"This has better be an exercise because it feels like it!" 😂 😂
It’s great to finally see a beat saber RUclipsr at the same level as me and not only expert+
Maybe it’s not as efective as real exercise but it should be more fun, don’t you think?
Definitely prefer fun!
The most important part of exercise is the motivation to do it, and making a habit of it.
For me it's almost the same amount of exercise then when i'm running on my treadmill/weights... i normally burn around 600-650 kcal pr hour with a avg puls of 113 and max puls of 203 while playing Beat saber.. you just gotta hit em like you mean it :D
ye
All you have to do is play expert no fail and try your best to hit all the blocks and dance at the same time don't just swing arms alone, youwould get a much better workout. Dance and swing, great for cardio if you move your whole body.
Him: I don’t wanna go outside ever again. Also him: be careful what you wish for. Corona: No take backs.
You get a better work out and a higher score if you make your swings wider. Instead of just flicking your wrist, put some power into it and go for as wide of an arc as you can. Personally, my workout is 30 minutes of Knockout League (boxing game) and then a couple hours of Beat Saber on hard and expert and I've noticed a huge difference in my arms after just a month of doing this. I have a gym membership but haven't been once since I got my Vive because my arms are like jello every day. It's BY FAR the most fun I've had exercising.
What did you noticed in your arms? xD Did you get stronger or more muscular? Or something else?
You can raise the room up in the settings using the "Y" change on the left panel in the settings. It makes in a bit easier to play if you move yourself up by 1 or 2 notches.
Also, funny thing: I passed $100 Bills before I passed Escape... I found $100 Bills to be a lot easier.
NekoOkto - Reminiscent of DDR, with 4 different ratings on a song. I did well with high Stream, but when the song was irregular, or had a lot of 1/16 notes and skips, forget it.
“your heart is going to be pumping faster than usual”

"Honestly, what is the point of my Apple watch?"
Probably what everyone thinks the week after they buy one lol
"I don't want to go outside ever again. I guess you gotta be carefull what you eish for there"
And then 2 years later:qurantine
"What is the point of my Apple Watch?"
*Good question*
Just for future reference, you have to go at a 90 degree angle before you hit the notes to get full points, so with that it may be different.
What do you mean? Like, hit the arrows head on?
For me who only sits inside all day, I usually play Beat saber for 2 hours per day. I think I’m getting a lot of exercise.
The most English spoken you tuber ever
4:03 “In this game you can have a benefit by being taller”. My 4’11” self is basically flailing my arms everywhere while playing on Expert+.
Every time one of these Beat Saber vids show up in my feed, I end up firing up the game and playing for a bit.
1:10 YES BE CAREFUL, YOUR WISH CAME TRUE.
"I don't want to run i want to lightsaber"
VR is good for you because it is one of those things you can play and be addicted to for hours while standing and you will forget you've been standing up for hours lol. Standing alone is really healthy and I feel like VR is encouraging long periods of standing in the household. Cooking is the only other exception lol.
Wow, the video blends actual and VR footage seamlessly. Is that something supported by steamVR?
it's a free software on steam called LIV Client which composites camera and CR gameplay :)
TribalInstincts has a good video on how this is all setup... It's not simple in the slightest sadly
Now test it with the hardest song ever
Imagine combining this AND DDR
Ultimate fit mode
You’d have to glue the rift to your head.
But yeah, that’d be amazing. My first choice would be Afronova, Challenge mode.
You?
I can definitely get into that! I loved DDR!
On my PS2, I would play DDR and EyeToy games (the ones with the camera where you can see yourself on screen).
No! XD

For my birthday I told my mom if she could buy me the oculus quest so í could play beat saber, and the she said that she would think about it, but now that i showed her how much exercise I get from playing beat saber she is going to buy it no matter what! Green is time based
Red is calories
Blue is the amount of times you stood up
This is so fun to watch
this year I've been working on losing weight and have been using hiking to do so, liking the outdoors and whatnot. However, now that it's winter it's a bit harder to want to get out of the house, let alone go for a hike. So I've been using Beat Saber as exercise and man, it really helps. I've closed my ring every time so far while using it and lapped it every time because I'm having so much fun.
First week I played this between 1.5-3 hours every evening. So much fun! It's like an exercise session that you don't wanna end!
"i feel like i've been playing this game for quite a while" - active exercise time 7 minutes 40 seconds
Is no one going to acknowledge the "What the... wow, wow!" at 11:12 😂
I've played this game for about an hour and I played Rum 'N Bass on Increased Speed on Expert. Play that song until you master it and you'll be sweating and your forearms will be sore. It requires you to be quick and move often. I truly believe that if you play this game on a high speed and difficulty each day for an hour at least, you could put in a good work out. It reminds me of that rope workout where you try to make waves with two ropes but instead of moving two heavier ropes, you're moving two small sticks repeatedly for an hour quickly. Kinda like dudes that wanna tone their muscles so they lift smaller increments of weights repeatedly. Same concept except you're also getting some cardio while increasing your hand-eye coordination and reflexes. AND because it's fun, it keeps your mind busy so you're not thinking about working out when you really are. You're not building muscle mass except maybe in your forearms, but you're burning calories quickly.
Beat saber devs: release expert plus. Apple Watch rings: I am speed
Beat Sabre is such a fun game i purchased it the other day due to your first video on it. Nihongo can i suggest a game that is amazing for VR. It's called Sprint Vector it's a fun experience and is great exercise. It is very tiring i can't play it more than a hour and a half at a time. It's soooo tiring. But i think you'll enjoy it. Keep it up!
‘Never have to outside again’

I need to start playing Beat Saber before that happens even if it doesn't. XD

@@fatboyinasandpit3434 good job you have an opinion now why does anybody need to hear it let him make a joke without assholes like you popping up thanks :>
Really great and funny video 😀
That being said I could run circles on you on that game XD
for someone that doesn't work out often and ends up sitting all day, this game is really great. Even if it's not like going to the gym and running for an hour, it's fun and it gets me on my feet for at least 3 hours a day. If i eat like normal and play this game, there's gotta be some benefit since I'm moving more every day. Another really great thing about this game is even though it kills your shoulders you end up getting used to it and as you follow the learning curve you don't get as sore as the first few times playing. also the squatting. damn.
gotta get to expert+, then the workout begins lol
I highly recommend checking out the beat saber discord modding community, the additional "Campaign modes" that people have created are WAYYYY better, with little to no repeat tracks, unlockable custom sabers, songs, etc.
The OST campaign is ok, but falls off about half-way through because it is just SO REPETITIVE with it's tracks.
This is exactly a VR killer app

Alysani01 nah
This is similar to DDR.
Chibiaiko 1987 Actually, there is a fan mod that let's you import stepmania (ddr on PC) maps into it. You can also create your own maps and put them into the game using the mod and the community editor they made for the mod.

Echo Se that’s one of favorites. I’m still starting out but I enjoy doing it on expert mode with the one light saber.
I’ve only made it to 4mins. Tough song.
Ive been having a lot of fun on hard, but expert kicks my ass.
Same
Plays a video game in VR for 27 minutes...and thinks it's "a long time" to work out. How cute! ;)
I need a LOT of exercise myself (medical reasons has caused me to gain about 100 pound in three years...not an exaggeration). I decided to pick up beat saber last week for my Oculus. Even with my rather painful medical condition, taking a couple T3's then getting distracted with endorphins and adrenaline while playing a video game...well...put it this way. It's the most active I've been in probably MORE than 3 years! :) Afterword, when the fun-drugs wear off...yeah. Then it's painful as f'k, but I figure if I can keep doing this and eating right, I'm HOPING to see a reduction in my pain level. If not...well, at least I lost some weight, got more healthy/cardio, and had a butt load of fun doing it! :)
PS: I usually play for about 4 hours, give or take. I trade off between Beat Saber and Audica (another song-based game; shooting with guns though), because in Audica I can sit down and take a breather. I'm going to start playing Sprint Vector soon as well. VR is at a point now, technology wise with computers, where I think we'll start to see a lot more "work-out and exercize'ish" video games. Add in the stuff like the Infinadeck Omnidirectional Treadmill and I think the future of VR is looking mighty bright indeed! :D
There is also a couple of games like fight night that burn calories. It’s pretty much boxing
Do this with superhot
You should’ve played one saber
Nihongo in 2018 - "I don't ever wanna go outside again! But be careful what you wish for..."
2020 - "Wish Granted."
The cool thing with this game is that after some hours of gameplay on expert, your brain will begin to register the third or fourth next cube when you are hitting the one in front of you. This gives you a wonderful flow
