  • The Clash ended when Joe Strummer fed up with manager Bernie Rhodes and the negative backlash from the band's sixth studio album "Cut the Crap" by music critics decided to run off and ask Mick Jones to rejoin a third version of the band. Rhodes however didn't want the band to go out with a whimper and with a huge tour of Europe and Asia taking place in a couple of months to promote the new album didn't want his cash cow to die held auditions for a new front man. Bassist Paul Simonon was asked to become the new lead singer which he declined and left the band as well. With no original members left, Rhodes went on to audition more potential members but was sued by Strummer ending the band in early 1986.
The story about the end of The Clash is a fascinating and complex one. This video couldn't have been made with acknowledging the sources that I used to create it such as the book "We Are The Clash: Reagan, Thatcher, and the Last Stand of a Band That Mattered" written by Mark Andersen and Ralph Heibutzki along with the websites blackmarketclash.co.uk and the message board clashcity.com who keep the memory of The Clash mark II alive. Cuppy took the day off and this video was narrated by The Illustrious Narrator who happens to be a huge Clash aficionado.
