  • How do I play in different keys? With... keys...
Okay, what my heat addled brain did not say correctly:
Bb, I can do it but the trompette I would rather not add because I don't like tuning up more than a whole step.
E, is possible in theory but it is either super awkward on the keyboard or the setup will be messy so that is the one I would rather avoid entirely.
    Cheerio!

This seems like the perfect instrument to accompany someone telling a story

The places in the video where you were tuning the strings reminded me of tuning the drones on my bagpipes, listening to the beat frequency and tweaking the drones one by one until it cancelled out. (I'm pretty much tone deaf so I always had to rely on little tricks like that to help me). Thank you for making these videos, they've been quite educational for me.

Hello ! Thank you for sharing the video, it is such a cool instrument, and nice explanation 👍 I had one question : where is this melody from? I have heard it before in a very different context and thought it was a « one off » thing. However, hearing it here makes me feel like there is an actual song behind it.

Thank you! :-) Yes, it is a Tourdion a dance popular in the late middle ages/renaissance. This particular one was first published in 1530 and was apparently quite a hit. (Renaissance-Despacito!) There was a French composer who added lyrics much later and turned it into a 4 part drinking song and that still gets sung often.
