  • This was a brief scene from Vancouver's DTES Hastings Street just after the city removed the tent encampment. All seemed quiet on the streets at the time, although it wasn't the case earlier. There were many mixed feelings and opinions on the matter. One person said, "It needed to happen, just not this way. We can probably expect to see crime increase in other neighborhoods." Another said , "It was their right to live here, this was their home," admitting that his dislike of the police only grew stronger, and wondered how the police can live with themselves or remain in their line of work. Yet another said, "It's about time. I live here and I don't feel safe." Others expect that the tents will simply return.

Sure the tents may be removed but the people will not go away like the tents have. Besides the weather is warming and the east side residents can now survive without their tents.
