  • The GitHub Arctic Code Vault is a data repository preserved in the Arctic World Archive (AWA), a very-long-term archival facility 250 meters deep in the permafrost of an Arctic mountain. The archive is located in a decommissioned coal mine in the Svalbard archipelago, closer to the North Pole than the Arctic Circle. GitHub will capture a snapshot of every active public repository on 02/02/2020 and preserve that data in the Arctic Code Vault.
For more information on the GitHub Arctic Code Vault, and the other archival projects GitHub is working on, visit archiveprogram...

In year 3020, a group of archaeologists found these tools we used back in the 21st century that are physically stored by Github . They chose a random software to try and explore what humans were interested in back then. They built and ran the software that turned out to be using a computer vision model and can understand content of images, videos and real-time camera input. They were overwhelmed by this discovery and that humans weren't as stupid as they thought. After the software ran successfully, they saw the actual usage humans adopted of such technological advancements. They saw themselves with swapped faces and fake moustaches with random graphics flying around them. They got a little disappointed, yet took it right away to the sanctuary premises to entertain the few apes we still have after climate change. After a few months, they got really demotivated after observing that even apes lost interest after 2-3 minutes.
