In process of buying IPS boat, been boating for 60+years but never had IPS. Found your videos really helpful. Thank you for taking the time and effort doing them.
Neil, how have you found IPS, I am looking at a replacement boat but apprehensive as it is IPS but with no bow thruster and is 42ft and as never experienced IPS.
@@jamiefrost3338 Hello Jamie. We got Princess F50. 3 months ago. Found the IPS really easy to use. We have bow thrust but not sure if really necessary. The videos were a big help, and what you see is what you get. Only needed 30 minutes actual time before taking her away. I would say take it easy, dont try anything fancy, wait for calm day initially, and keep playing the videos. Good luck.
The IPS system seems to be intuitive. Love the dynamic positioning. More efficiency, less noise, less fuel consumption, less exhaust fumes means its a quantum jump from traditional shaft drive systems. Well done great video and thanks
Hi Jon, Love your videos. You have a very good way of explaining things. You make it look easy, but I realize how much experience it takes to make things seem effortless. Thanks
This is one of the best videos about boating i've ever seen. Great piece of engineering, it's almost easier to park a boat that a car ! Question, who moors the boat? can the captain be the only person on the boat or there's always a need for someone helping? Silly question maybe, but i'm totally new to the boating experience !
@@MotorBoatYachting Oh THANKS A MILLION ! that's exactly what i was looking, you make things look so easy but they aren't ! (not for a beginner anyway). I still have two years to decide or not in "investing" on a boat.
@@SERGIO-cr6uy if you ask around you can often find local crew / deckhands who'll come aboard and give you company and help in return for free boating. You get free crew they get a free trip. My local yacht club has adverts, your local marinas and boating clubs will likely have something similar.
+Motor Boat &Yachting, Mr Mendes, that's very very impressive skills. I know IPS is a great system but when you have an expert teaching, it's even better. Do you run courses at Bates Wharf and if so, please how much? Regards Jonathan
Realistically, the whole point of IPS is that unskilled idiots can dock their boat without hiking insurance premiums for the rest of us. If they need instruction for IPS, they probably won't be able to understand what is, a factually correct, video.
Who is this video for? Someone who has never been on a boat? Well, they do not need to know what IPS is to begin with. People who have mastered helm on a boat, do not need to see this video either. It will take them no more than a minute to work out how it all works.
IPS docking is totally different from single engine or dual engine docking, its an instructional video to keep the basic principles fresh for everyone, even the most experienced boat handlers can learn from these videos.

@@neilharness4158 Thank you Neil, glad to hear your experience is as good as it looks. Princess 50 is a fine boat.

Looks so easy with all the technology of today, drones and joysticks. What a time to be in boating!

Yep, you can moor without any crew, we did a video on it here: ruclips.net/video/KCFVHuu6TxM/видео.html

newer systems have 'position hold' function which is great when single handing.
Cool! I want that for my car! That will make parking very easy!!! :D
What make and model boat are you driving? I like it, looks great!

Any chance you could do a video on berthing with IPS stern to? Cheers

There is no wind and the sea is very quiet. I would like to see it when there is a lot of wind and and the sea is rough?
I wonder how it does on a 100 ton boat?

Yeah if people can't figure out how to use an IPS system they don't belong anywhere near anything motorized.
in fact, they should probably wear a helmet just walking around on foot.
No wonder you have the word MONKEY in your name... you have the brain of one.
