      Keep hearing this comment,but how are SA underdogs ? A settled team with the most depth of any nation up v a team that has to be rebuilt from the ground up after the Foster yrs.And with chronic weaknesses in multiple positions.
      Anything less than a clean up of the RC wiull be a failure for SA.

    When I watched SA thrashed NZ in Twickenham last year, I thought that it was, finally, the beginning of them going from World Cup winner to a truly dominant team - like NZ in 2011-2015. Then they got tight at the World Cup, lost to Ireland, for my money made some big tactical errors against England in the rain in the semi (it should never have been that close), then almost lost to 14-man NZ.
    That NZ team could only seem to be beaten if you played really well, came up with some unique tactical answers, they had some injuries, and they had a bit of an off day. The stars almost had to align. SA have the potential to be those guys too. They have the coaching staff and more than twice as many quality players required to do it. For me they have to be targeting an undefeated Rugby Championship campaign. They should proudly own that as their standard, because they have that potential.

    • @stevenbissett
      @stevenbissett Месяц назад +4

      That match against the ABs at Twickenham was a money spinner and had nothing riding on it. It sounds niave of you to think it was a signal for greater things to come. A series of 1 point wins doesn't cut the mustard in my books, especially against a 14-man side. SA need to back up their trophy. The loss against Ireland at home last weekend does not bode well in terms of credibility stakes.

    As far as the greatest team of all time question goes, I think consistency between world cups is less important for the Boks than achieving the threepeat. Lets face it, you have to win back to back just to have the opportunity to attempt it, the team that manages that feat will unquestionably earn the label of GOAT!
    In order to win three on the bounce, I imagine it will be necessary to have two full teams of world cup worthy talent, and this will only be possible if many players are given the opportunity over the next three years.

    • @listeningto8371

Can they impose themselves on a team. For SA the issue is when to introduce new players at 9-10-12-15, have good TRC draw this year but typically flaky as hell away from the WC. Aus - essentially they need to be injury free for two years as their depth is so slim. S&C and culture is all important to overcome skill and depth decencies.

    Hi guys, Tim I'm an all black supporter living in RSA! The likes of Ireland and England has caught up with the southern hemisphere teams of the all blacks and the boks. Looking back to the boks vs Eng in rwc Eng lost the game only due to their scrums, a game in which everyone wrote them off and their tour of Nz was just a continuation of their improved game. Ireland on the other hand in my opinion has maxed out their playing style. All blacks going through a rebuilding phase may catch Rassie's Boks with a slightly older team with a few players on the older side of 33..yrs. Aus going through a generation without being in the top 2 rugby nations , I don't think that their talent pool is not quite there yet, let's hope that God Almighty Bless Aus with 1 or 2 greats around which they can build a good team like players of the past with likes of the great John Eales and George Greagan ! The Pumas to little rugby players to be consistent. Huge fan of Kwagga Smith 1 of the unsung heroes of the boks fantastic and consistent game after game. Cheers guys. Lee

    New Zealands 9 jersey will be hottely contested between Ratima, Hotham, and Roigard when he returns. I don't think Christie is fast enough between rucks for the pace of test footy.
    The bigger concern is at 10, how quickly will Mo'unga return, and will there be a young contender that comes through with Burke having signed gor Saracens. McKenzie will continue in the mean time.
