This is a great discussion. Bro. Nance is focused on the military aspect without extrapolating the political consequences of these acts. The political fact is armed engagements is a form of politics. The victory is measured by the political goals of the of Israel, Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah and the US.
I must express my appreciation for Sis. Keith contribution to this debate.

You can tell Malcolm is in the military because none of what he said even hinted at the human loss as being tragic. To him, civilian casualties is just the cost of doing business. MLK is proven right day after day and he isn’t even with us anymore. Thanks for this debate Karen. It is much needed and appreciated. And I consider Malcolm very knowledgeable in the intricacies of warfare. But this is the clearest reason why we need civilian oversight.

I don't think you can show that from his words, BUT, either way the question becomes: Are all civilian/lives equal to him or do some lives matter more...in this contex israeli lives.
War is no excuse for genocide, approaching genocide or war crimes. We've held combatants culpable, to the point of punishment by death, for civilian deaths they purposefully or negligently caused.
Using war as an excuse is about as valid as "I was just following orders."

Malcom is tripping like when he went to Ukraine and donned full combat gear, faking like he was on the front lines actually fighting! Meanwhile, the Ukrainians were dogging Africans left and right! Now this should show where his loyalties are. By his words and actions, he has sown us who he is. Who is he to you?

Agreed. I respect Mr. Nance but like Karen said he can’t seem to divorce himself from his military upbringing. Also he contradicts himself by supporting Ukraine yet doesn’t support Palestine when both are being aggressed upon. You can’t change your principles based on who’s involved. Also he said that there was only one incident when Isra3l used “dumb” bombs which makes it look even more like they’re targeting civilians if you have weapons that are more surgical.

I would have to kindly disagree with Pam here, Palestinians the vast majority are Sunni Muslims with some Christians, like Egypt, Jordan, the issue is not Sunni or Shia but rather Egypt, Jordan and other Arab states do not want to facilitate Israel's mass ethnic cleansing and genocide of Gaza, because like in the Naqbah of 1948, once the Gazan's are forcibly removed from the land-they WILL NEVER be able to return! The Apartheid state of Israel only has the right of return for Jews who are not indigenous to the land, but deny Palestinian's right of return who've lived on the land for centuries.
Remember Yakqub from Brooklyn who moved into a Palestinian family's home in the West Bank and said: "if he didn't steal their home someone else would!"

Malcolm correctly sees Hamas as a terrorist organization, and differentiating between terrorism and radicalism/revolutionary politics has always been hard for the left to properly evaluate or understand, because it contradicts much of their worldview. There's a certain way in which terrorism has to be fought, especially Islamic Terrorism, and contrary to what Karen is saying "Islamic Terrorism" is not a form of "Arab Nationalism", if anything, it is a rejection of it.

As for which side am I on in regards to this debate, I have to side with the innocent bystanders and civilians of both Israel and Palestine. The main villains in this war are Hamas and far Right extremist in the Israeli government. This is a war between Semitic people (both Jews and Arabs are Semites) over religious ideology and land. What both sides need to do is kick out the extremist leaders from both governments and form a new united secular democratic country with a new Semitic name with an emphasis on freedom of religion. Of course this most likely won't ever happen because most humans suck and are idiots who are too blinded with hate and greed in order to peacefully unite.

The Gaza Strip, with all the sanctions from Israel, and attacks from Hamas followed by Israeli counter attacks, has turned it into both a Refugee Camp and Battle Zone at the same time, with a captive civilian population unable in even the best of times to have a functioning society. Neither of the Radical Factions on both sides have yet or will in the future allow a real society and economy to develop! I have to agree with Malcolm’s viewpoint. This is a highly unusual war being fought in a tightly dense area and under conditions and rules set by Hamas. For the most part, Israel is using a targeted approach to isolate the bad guys in a very chaotic situation. Clearly, there will be casualties and suffering of innocent civilians in the mix, but warning people to get out of harm’s way is about the only option they have to root out Hamas. Also, more than just criticizing Israel, the entire region has a responsibility to come to the aid of the suffering Palestinian people.

It's painful to listen to the war hungry, blood thirsty Nance. His personal view is nauseating to say the least.
He and his fellow folks have no compassion, and that's the most saddening part of this. Moving a million people
from their homeland for the mere sake of land acquisition for the European is criminal.

I'd love an in-depth interview with Nance to truly understand the origins of his perspective. Personally, I don't see how any black American can have such unbending faith in the US military-industrial system/project. He acts like this very same govt wouldn't shoot his black ass at a traffic stop.
I oppose our backing of the bombardment of Gaza because I believe that the toubabs ALWAYS do a test run in preparation for future atrocities. And I've seen zero historical evidence to suggest that Africa is not next for this! Or, frankly, even us, here in America! A lot of historically black neighborhoods are in very prime locations.

Pam Keith is incorrect that Palestinians are Shi’i. Iranians are Shi’i for the most part. But most of the rest of the Islamic world is Sunni, including Palestinians and Egyptians. Malcolm Nance’s point was correct that Egypt does not want to take in Palestinians due to Egypt having it’s own problems in the Sinai and, truth be told, wherever Palestinians go they try to overthrow the government. Not said is that Hamas evolved from The Egyptian Brotherhood who assassinated the former President of Egypt, Anwar Sadat, for making peace with Israel. Ms. Keith has impressive credentials but her historical explanation re Egypt/Palestinians could not be more wrong.

THE LAST WORD. I love a world full of humanitarians but pray let's talk humanitarian considerations to both sides. What is the humanitarian difference between someone going into a community to slaughter all it's inhabitants and someone killing 20k people out of 1 million. Also, if someone deliberately creates a battle field within a population, who should take the blame for the humanitarianfallout? They creator or the one forced to fight there?

Miss Karen. There are bad people in the world and there are cultures that value life less (or more) than your culture. In cultures like China, Iran, and most of the Gulf states...life is cheap. Tribe, clan, and hierarchies mean more than species or nation. Hamas won an election decades ago, killed off its political rivals, and still imprisons and tortures individuals who push back against their deprivation of the people of Gaza. Hamas' leaders and their families live well. They live in Qatar, send their kids to school in London, and get their health care in Paris. Think of all of the venal individuals you have met in media, music, or politics here. Now scale up their moral depravity to nation-state size and pwoer. These are the countries and cultures I have mentioned above. Put Puffy in charge of a country and you get Saddam Hussein's sons.

Wow! Malcolm knows all? The military answer to Israel/Palestinean conflict will never work. It just makes life in the Middle East miserabe. Now it's time to negotiate and settle this issue!
Malcolm is correct that surrounding countries don't want refugees because it is unjust to drive out Palestineans so Israel can settle all of the land. But to make a statement that is, "I'm always more knowledgeable and always right" makes me NERVOUS. Heard too much of that from the MAGA maniacs.
Netanyahu has manipulated Biden. He has abused our friendship. Biden has been willingly manipulated. Either way, we are on an immoral track! Israel h deliberately hit civilian structures. They have made rubble out of Gaza. The idea of double tap on buildings is not a gracious technique. It's deadly. It killed dead 32,000 people and the highest demographic of the dead are children and women.
Everyone I know wants us out of Netanyahu's trap. He did not consult with us when he attacked an Iranian consulate killing a big shot Al Kuds General. Now he expects and gets our help? Did Netanyahu expect flowers and candy from Iran for doing that? It was aggressive and violent and unilateral. No more U.S. Middle East interventions for bad reasons!

    • @Randy.Wuerger
      @Randy.Wuerger 7 месяцев назад

No, he was not. Malcolm Nance has been a joke and pariah in intelligence circles since 1995, when his commanding officer Ken Verbrugge (then possibly a Commander or Lieutenant Commander) at NSGA Rota banished Nance from the Naval Security Group for misconduct and gross personality issues.
The only people who take Nance seriously are progressives who've been driven so insane by their hatred for Donald Trump that they cannot recognize the obvious warning signs of fraud Nance gives off.
Before Joe Biden was elected, there was talk of Malcolm Nance getting a high-level national security job in the Administration. Yet no job materialized. Why do you suppose that didn't happen? Because Malcolm Nance had been known to actual national security professionals as a clown, fabulist, and liar for 25 years.

Malcolm Nance would have advised against it. Nance: "We have to understand the consequences of such an order, because there are second-degree effects. There are third-level effects which come from that, which could lose many, many, many more Americans than could ever have been saved by killing him."

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke publicly of his disagreements with Israel’s killing of civilians. Thus, Secretary Austin, a USA Army General who knows what war crimes look like and sometimes points out when allies commit them, seems like a much more credible promoter of peace and diplomacy than Malcolm Nance.
