I love that butterfly pea flower colour! It's a shame it didn't carry through. Could it be infused in one of the oils? Loving the style f your video's at the moment and a the natural materials you are experimenting with; i feel your vibe! 💕
I love that you keep evolving. I have only been doing this since September. I changed my name and packaging. I may change again. I am still settling into my niche. Its hard not to let people influence you. I got plastic shamed at a show. I felt like "you do you. Let me be me"
Ahhh the longer you do it, the thicker your skin gets. Those people plastic shaming you probably have no qualms about the plastic wrapped food they buy at the grocery store. Keep at it and always do what feels right and best for you ❤
@michellecollier don't keep changing your name so often. You want your customer to recognise your brand and you want to build up trust. I don't purchase from brands that keep changing as it makes me look at business as either fake or not genuine so I go find somewhere who looks like its a safe and secure. Grateful for my daughter who studied Fashion and Retail who told this whilst building my company back in 2011. I have been reading up on the Psychology of Customer Service Shopping which is incredible. 😊
I just got fragrance oil shamed altho i use essential oils also. So weird. People use all sorts of craziness on their bodies and they have to be mean to you. I do vegan plant based except beeswax. Then i do that. 2nd guess myself. We have sensitive skin in my house and cant tolerate alot and i have no issues. But one lady, smearing on her chemical makeup and flammable perfume and eating her dye additive snack and chemically sweetened beverage, acts ie i am awful and i start to wonder if i am doing it all wrong. People r mean. I could never go up to someone and say something negative to them about something they put their heart into.
@@spottedsparrowgardens9999lol I would have told her to get out of my booth, I don’t want her business anyway! I have been im business since 2015. Turtles lay eggs on the beaches and dolphins r close to shore and theres no crowded beaches and its sooo peaceful. ❤
I think having the blue butterfly pea and water on the stove and boiling it for a bit will get more colour out of it. I use it in cocktails and it’s so cool to watch it turn from blue to purple by adding lemon juice 😍!
Yes! If you make a powder out of your pea flowers in like a coffee grinder you can do more of a concentrate in the steep maybe get a darker color! Love the formula!
@@JerikaZimmerman we make a calendula extraction we took one oz of dried calendula flowers and ground them in a coffee grinder, and then added a shot of 80 proof vodka in a mason jar. We stirred that up good and let that sit 24 hrs. After that we added it to avocado oil for three days in a warm spot, it was actually in our honey warmer we have. Strained the calendula out and it turned into a super duper extraction! I saw the video here on RUclips and we’ve been adding the calendula oil to our lotions! We seem to learn something every day. Maybe this would make the pea flowers brighter!
I have just stumbled upon your channel as my daughter is looking to start a small soap business from home. So I thought I’d have a Quick Look what it’s about so I can advise or at least understand the process. I’m god knows how many videos in now, and I have to say, I love your content. Keep up the great work. 😊
Yeah im thinking lets stick with what works...use the shrink wrap...cost effective...consistent. Talking about packaging, we do tend to want to find what makes us happy but look at Lush for example, simplicity to no packaging works just fine for them. Less is more
What if you add more pea flower buds to the hot water? Just to make it a deeper color before you combine all ingredients. You ingredients sounds wonderful for a lotion 😊😊
Hello Jerika, I use butterfly pea flowers in my products specially for facial serums and cream. You can achieve colors from blue to pink or purple depending on the ph. It’s a great tea to drink and we love it here. My fav product is the butterfly blue tansy and hyaluronic acid facial serum. Also the helichrysum eo is amazing for problem skin.
I love the shrink wrap and the simplicity of your bars! I would imagine it would be better for shipping too. Could you tell me what size Glassine bags you used, I didn’t see it in the description box?
Fun shots from the beginning ……I like both cuts of the rolls…..kind of organic …the engraving looked spectacular….just wondering outloud what is best environmentally shrink wrap or box§? Ummmm…..I believe there is a place for string on certain presentations ….Dempsey was looking for Papa……hahaha ……our Mad Scientist….
I also love the idea of Butterfly Pea Flowers, have you made a tea with it? I haven't tried it myself but that is the first image I saw of tho product, in a glass filled with ice cubes on a hot summer day, looked like some enchanted whimsical beautiful beverage. Then of course you want to soap with it or cover a loaf with the pretty petals ❤.
I was just curious. Don’t they have a shrink wrap that has small holes in it so it is breathable? Seems like that would be great for soap. Then people can smell it a little as well.
Hi Jerika, I love your videos! It's what I binge watch in my bed. I always look forward to new videos. I usually don't comment but I wanted to share my experience. During formulation school, I've tried making a pea flower lotion that turned out good but was not stable. I was looking for the purple color which I got a very light pretty purple, but after adding my preservative, it changed to blue which was also pretty. I did give up on it and moved on because of the poor stability. Since then I've learned so much and your video is so inspiring, I might just try it out again with my new knowledge. My poor stability could have been due to many factors including the ph, electrolytes or even something as simple as an additive. Some of these reasons could potentially be the reason for your lotion not keeping its color. Maybe the witch hazel as it naturally lowers the ph of the mixture which can cause altering in the color, or something else. However I'm more interested to find out if your cream remained stable once it sat down. It took me a lot of lotion making to get it right. I always say if you can make a lotion, you can make anything as I think emulsions are some of the hardest formulations to keep stable. Can't wait for you next video!
I’ve got tons of butterfly pea flowers in my backyard. I’m still breastfeeding and not sure if it’s ok for me to make a tea, so they’re just out there thriving. 🤭
Have you ever tried adding citric acid to your soap recipes? We just started and it’s supposed to help with dos and helps with soap scum for people who buy your soaps that have hard well water
I think you should add 3x maybe 4x more butterfly pea flowers to make a super concentrated color& maybe it will help tint it more!!! also yes the yellow oils probably aren't helping!
Smelling abilities are needed for this channel. I try to think about what you are talking about with the scents, but smell vision would be helpful. Great video.
Honestly with the essential oils, it was tough. I’ve seen them described on other channels but smelling the real deal is a whole other experience. The struggle is real!

I use butterfly pea flower in my body butters. I use the flower in powder form and dissolve it in a hydrosol then add to my blend and build the color

I believe they are 4.5” x 6.5”
It was a faint blue lavender color. Use a lot more. Like a handful n let it steep for 1hr and i bet u get blue.
I see a hint of blue! Especially in the final part of the video when it's zoomed out. Nice experiment 🔬🧪

Thanks for sharing your inspiration for my growth! I just purchased my first 50lb bag of lye, and it takes guts to buy things and expand.

Yes! The specific shrinkwrap film I use is perforated and has tiny holes that help the scent come through 😊
thank you for the video, where did you get the shrink wrap system that seal the bag?
I use the National Shrinkwrap system!

Changes of PH will always change botanical colours. It always happens in creams and lotions. Even more in soap.
Agreed! Experimentation is key when working with botanicals ❤
You can get purplish colour in cream with hibiscus flower infusion
