There was an issue of Sports Illustrated that featured a swimmer with dwarfism and another athlete in a wheelchair. Then there was an obese woman doing stretches. They chose the obese woman for the cover. Imagine being dealt a hand like dwarfism, fighting against all odds to excel in an athletic field only to be featured behind a fat woman who could completely change her situation through a few years of diet and excercise.

They also have the same concept: People shouldn't be shamed if they have bad grades / bad health beacuse they can always improve. Everyone does some stuff wrong, it's only human. But how people go about supporting these people in situations like this is very important.
They should be supported in a way that gives them enough motivation to get back up but also ensures that they know what they did was wrong.
But wrong supportive behaviour leading to being proud of having bad grades / bad health gaslights the brain into thinking that it is not a big deal and even worse, motivates that person to make even more mistakes, beacuse they get praised for it.
To put it in a nutshell:
Making mistakes is "ok" , but making mistakes is not "good". There is a huge difference.
Supportive behaviour is much more harder and precise than everyone believes it to be. You can't just put on a "yes man" face and cheer at everything someone does. Supporting someone is both celebrating their good actions and also critiquing their wrong actions, but a lot of people seem to ignore the last one.

Y'know, I am obese, and I am trying to get more fit. These people who are trying to deny the reality of their situation just do not want to commit to trying to fix their problem. It annoys me that they try to spin an obvious problem into part of their "identity". It is not something to be proud of, trust me. I don't wanna die before I'm 30. I want to experience life and be with my family as much as possible. Obviously, these people have no problem having their lives go downhill. If they want to be fat and unhealthy, fine, but they better not criticize people for not "accommodating them" or some bs because that is something they chose to be.

I've been 315 lbs at 5'9" before. I am now 175 lbs (obviously still 5'9"). Before gaining all the weight I was around 160 lbs. I can tell you from experience on both ends of the spectrum that being a healthy weight is 1000% better, I feel 1000% more confident, I am physically capable of doing more (including fun, enjoyable activities--not just exercise), and I genuinely feel about 10 or 15 years younger. Fat acceptance is dangerous. Adults making decisions for themselves is one thing. Influencing our youth toward an unhealthy lifestyle is another. Delusions.

At some point, especially with insulin resistance, your body can gain so much weight, which it fights and gains more weight, where it becomes a runaway freight train where you can't lose weight because you gain more than you can lose. It requires medical intervention with medications & surgery along with diet & exercise. I have PCOS. I tried to get help for weight and was constantly written off as lazy or told to diet more. I was in the military at the time. I ended up giving up and got diagnosed on accident in another health situation. I was 5'0" 110lbs my whole life. But after pcos kicked in I got to 263lbs. Started also having hormonal/emotional areas (that are being linked to that now too). I had to start therapy to get that help. After I got all the help from all the doctors, surgeons, medications & hormone corrections, I lost weight back to 118lbs. So pcos is a very valid beast of a disease that more and more people are being diagnosed with and are definitely not in the traditional "fat" or "fat shaming" categories because it is a disease that's not curable and causes a ton of problems in addition to massive weight gain. More awareness of the disease needs to be brought out in general.

For me there is a distinct difference between fat shaming, and having a decreased level of physical attraction to someone because they are considered fat.
Fat shaming would be where you intentionally make someone feel guilty, upset, or to belittle someone, because they are overweight.
No one should be made to feel like a lesser person.
However, not being as attracted to someone because they have a lot of body fat is perfectly reasonable.
You could easily replace body size with height, and how some women have tastes about men’s height. Some height preferences can be unreasonable, as can some body size/shape preferences.

But I’m still thin. US size 4, or 34/35 in European sizes. My waist is 26 inches around. I don’t know what that is in cm, sorry, I’ve reached the end of my knowledge of metric without having to look it up, I’m sure you can if you care to.
I was still a 2XXL when I lived in Vietnam though, because of my height and breasts, but let’s be honest that’s SE Asia where people tend to be smaller. But even they would ask me how I stay so thin, because I weighed 52 kg at 1.71 m, so that doesn’t mean much. When I was able to find clothes for export to the US, I was a medium. Still have some of my yoga pants from there, they are great. Don’t even get me started on how I couldn’t buy shoes there, and always had to fly to KL, Malaysia and shop duty free to find them in my size.
ETA: Also, 4 kg is 8.8 lbs, you multiply the kg by 2.2 to get lbs.

Good for you. But most people are more encouraged to work on something really hard, with um, encouragement, instead of shaming.
The fat acceptance movement should be more focused on the acceptance that fat people, people that are currently struggling with their weight and health of any stage are around in the millions maybe more like billions, and not that obese people should accept being obese is a good thing for them to be or to continue without attempting to improve their health for their own benefit and benefit to those that love them, but for society to be more accepting that these people are out their in the billions, and no matter what stage they are at, they should be treated as human beings and given the respect everyone deserves, to be treated fairly no matter their physical and personal health and what they look like. And that no matter what they look like or their personal struggles, that it is ok to tell people they are a beautiful person and build their self worth by being treated with respect.
If someone constantly has their self worth dragged through the dirt by society looking down on them constantly for a medical issue that takes alot of hard work mentally and physically to overcome, they have much less chance of success with any self improvement when their general self worth is non existent because of how society brings them down in every way as a person making them feel they have zero self worth just because of their current weight situation. How does someone have a chance of overcoming it when society makes them feel like that.
Fat acceptance shouldn't and isnt about making people accept that obesity is ok and not a problematic health issue, but for the non fat society to accept that these people are living and struggling and deserve respect today and now, not only as soon as they successfuly change. They deserve to have the standards of human to human respect as they are. Not depending on their personal struggle or health or progress status.
And that building someone up, who is in obvious need of help in growing their self worth so they have the strength for self improvement is not a bad thing and does not mean you are encouraging their current health status. Just that your are encouraging them to value themselves, even if they haven't met their goals, helping build self worth will help them. Not shaming bullying and society constantly treating them less then human.
Telling an obese person is beautiful does NOT equal to telling them not to lose weight. Or supporting them to be unhealthy. In fact telling someone they are a beautiful person could encourage them to take better care of themselves and if losing weight is needed to better their health then someone is much more likely to put the hard work and effort into bettering themselves and putting themselves first, if they have people around them telling them they are beautiful and reminding them of their worth, and the more you believe in your over all worth and the beauty in who you are, the more likely you are to have success in life and in bettering your health and your life in the ways you can. Which is an ongoing daily struggle and adventure the same as everyones faces.
But no matter what the most important thing for you as a person to work on improving so you can live the longest and happiest life, I can guarantee having people support you in growing your self worth and self respect, no matter what your challenges are, will increase your success in everything important.
Don't understand how encouraging people to love themselves in no matter what stage of life and progress they are at or what they look like on the outside could ever be a bad thing. Increasing someones self worth, will always be more effective in encouraging self improvement then shaming them for whatever stage they are currently at.

I love and accept myself, my body and my fight to change. I just weighed in at 225.3 pounds, I’m 5’3 and female. I unfortunately have loose skin and more fat to loose. I started my weightloss at 420 pounds, no quality of life, depressed, and suicidal. I’m doing my very best to get fit. I gained 110 pounds that I’d lost during COVID. I spent 2020 gaining weight, most of 2021 feeling like shit about it. July 2021 was my birthday month and I didn’t feel like I had the life to celebrate. Right then I changed immediately. I went back to the gym, cleaned up my eating and lost 50lbs by December and continued as much as possible. I’m down 194.7 pounds and about 100 pounds more to go. Fat, able-bodied people ready to change: You CAN change. It’s hard but being fat is harder. I promise.

I agree, it’s not right to celebrate being unhealthy or living dangerously, yet recognizing these people and validating their existence costs NOTHING. I kind of lost you when you said overweight people can do nothing but die. It’s so much easier to ridicule people than to try to empathize with them and be compassionate. Everyone we meet has a life as equally as complex as our own. We never know what causes someone to overheat and let go of their health. It’s just not nice to judge people just because they’re overweight and say they can do nothing but die.

I understand how fast it can get out of hand, but I'm still in reality, I know I need to better my self, I don't accept what I've let myself become.

Losing weight is mostly about what you eat. Your work schedule is not keeping you from eating less. Use your busy schedule to your advantage, as a distraction from eating the same.
