Dr.Nader, I found your channel this morning and have been binge watching! You are an absolute Godsend!! Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Things are finally making sense to me!
I'm finally starting to recover (your videos helped a lot) and what is most challenging for me right now is facing how long I have been this way. When I finally started feeling well enough to clean my house, I realized just how dirty it was and even how the vacuum itself was neglected with clogs and an overfilled bag. It's so tempting to fall into old patterns and give up, but I am pushing forward small bits at a time. Awareness is hard enough on it's own, but I am still new at the acceptance piece.
Hi Rebecca - it really is all about breaking down those larger problems into practical goals that can be accomplished. It will get better through that process.
Best channel on Depression thankyou, i can finally start to understand my depression because of this channel... I'm not done yet fighting this illness but ive so much more insight
Im still having difficulty recovering from depression, anxiety... my foolish mistake of retiring is so overwhelming. I cannot go back.... " You don't know what you have till it's gone " days off, or vacations we're great. But, permanent totally changed my life. I need that structure, purpose, identity, social interactions, friends, etc... im just so unhappy with terrible regret. Im alone now , i didn't plan this right.
Thanks for this video I became depressed about 4years ago just before COVID so not great timing. I am retired so thought I would take on some mentally challeng voluntary wor.k This was a big mistake as my feelings of anxiety increased and my self confidence disappeared. I am trying now to accept where I am and take on new tasks that are challenging but not overwhelming. Thanks again for your service
Thank you sssoooooo much for your help, your unique help, here in the states it's no money, then no help. Your videos make an immeasurable difference in my recovery and the recovery of countless others around the world!:]
This is exactly what happens. He is bang on the issue. Thanks a lot🙏 . I don’t know whether I am recovering or not but whenever I feel good I always tempted towards check in to low moods for validation and it begins again and last for a week. But I will resist the “Camel kick”. Thanks a lot 🙏
Thank you for letting all of us know. yes, I belive these problems arise while battling depression especially setting higher goals and trying to come up with 1000+ imaginary theories. Thanks again Dr. Rami🙏
Rising Enthusiasm at 13:50 is an extremely important point.I have personal experience how this can cause damage to myself when setting goals for what I think I should be able to do and not what my energy and motivation are actually in reality. Just as you say, it leads to cycle of failure and disappointment which fuels the depression even further down. Very important point.

I have taken control on anxiety but depression is there. But i am on recovery stage. My some days are better others are not. Now i will follow your advice in this video. I have a year with it. Can you tell me is this recovery when you are good one or 2 days and then get a setback? Hope you will answer it.
Can we rewire the brain of the person suffering from chronic depression/MDD? Since this condition is considered to be life long and though can be managed as they say but doesn't completely go away..
I have discovered your videos only recently and am working on setting Specific, Action, End-specific, 95%-chance achievable goals. Some days are better than others. But it *is* great to even have those goals and really feel like I can and sometimes do accomplish them. My question is: Obviously, I am watching your videos because I don't like the "down", "Blah" way I am experiencing my life...and I don't have the big $$ needed to get therapy. Is it actually depression? I don't know for sure. But, I want to know if you feel that it is possible for me to pull myself out of a long time living this way and get to a better place from following videos like this alone?
All depressions improvement is temporary. It’s basically palliative care. Its better to just live in depression instead of living in fear that it’ll return. If people “battle depression all their lives” it’s basically a loosing battle. Not worth it. Good video tho!

It's really important to watch out for the enthusiasm and keep it in check, or it can set a person up for failure.
Great tips 🤗! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us 🙏

The camel kick guy and the clinician's response "ok...why would you do that??" made me laugh despite my depression 😀
Glad to hear it helped. It was a funny exchange between them.
Is catastrophizing part of or linked to anxiety?
Catastophizing is very common in anxiety.

The same goal setting approach for managing depression can be used for non-depression situations.
