- SAFAR (engl: "journey") is a project for which the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar invited five high-class musicians from Afghanistan to present traditional music for which their country has been famous and which has been forbidden under the Taliban regime for decades. This is a piece called "Raftim Azin Baagh" from the concert that took place on July 4th, 2012 at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.
The musicians and their traditional instruments appearing in this piece are:
Ustad Ghulam Hussain - Rubab
Ustad Amruddin - Dilruba
Jawed Mehmood - Tabla
Abdul Latif - Dhol
Usted Mohammad Ehsan Irfan - Tanbur

Afghan orchestra will never produce another ustad Ghulam Hussain. He is here for years. I ever found him involved in playing his rubab according to wish of the listener. Here he is at peak of his professional career and this tune has been reflected in many songs of late 60s and 70s. A matchless performance but table & dhol are also worth praise. I wish afghan government may declare him National musician.

Speak for yourself bro. This is not 100% afghan music, this form of music was introduced to Afghanistan in 1900th century because of the British who had Indians in their forces.But rubab is without a doubt an afghan instruments.
