Having a vrunchy lifestyle and a loving wife seems like the best scenario to be in with kpd. My brother was in kidney failure and changing our lifestyles for him was a huge shock at first.
My sister and her husband had a solid savings account before her kidney disease. During the 4 years she was on dialysis those savings were all used up and she depended on the family sending her funds so she could afford to stay in her rental house and pay medical bills. It was hard and stressful for her , but thanks to Jehovah and the donor ,she got her transplant almost a year ago. She is slowly recovering financially and she definitely plans on splurging on a nice trip somewhere. I hope your doing well and able to keep that level function stable for many years to come with all the precautions you are already taking.
I’ve been a ReallyVeryCrunchy subscriber for a few years now, but just learned you had your own channel. I’m sorry to hear about your PKD, and I wish you and your family the best of luck. And, if I may be so forward, may I suggest you look into the Carnivore diet? Protein and fat have been vilified in the last century, but I truly believe that it has helped both my husband and myself. (Lab results before and after also help defend against naysayers.) I try to let people know about it when I can (while trying NOT to be annoying) because I wish I had learned about it early enough to have prevented my own loss. Good luck!
Thank you for sharing. I truly believe knowledge is power, you have such a fantastic attitude. I've been a Crunchy fan for ages, but I didn't know you had this channel. Sending Heaalthy Happy Kidney Vibes your way!
Jason, Thanks for sharing. Praying for you and your family. I remember your father and mother's shock and courage in addressing this disease back then and the miraculous results. I didn't realize it could be a family trait. Was the previous relative on your grandfather or grandmother's side?

So great to hear from you! I think it was on my grandfather's side.
