EA practically killed the dreams of fans and creators of the world of McGee's Alice, and wasted years of hard work by McGee, teams of who had worked to develop the project's concepts hoping for approval, as well as potential artists like you who could have been part of Alice: Asylum, by 1. Deciding to cancel the game after TWELVE YEARS (like they lead them on and gave them false hope for that long. how dare they.) and 2. Refusing to sell the IP, even though the world, the stories and ideas belong to McGee and his team. We could have had such an AMAZING third game with the technology we have now, smooth gameplay and breathtaking worlds like this one. Heck we could even have a remastered and improved AMR with extra features (like how ori and the blind forest came out w a definitive edition and it had extra stuff in the story and a new area and powerup) and without all the bad ports and low fps after EA basically abandoned it as part of the new game bundle. But no. They decided to destroy all of that, even though they were the ones who did almost zero marketing for AMR, and blamed it for initial bad sales, for greed. More overpriced Sims expansion packs. Woohoo. Amazing.
to be fair American was asking for $35 million dollars which is a decent chunk of change, specially for an Ip that while greately loved by many(including myself) is not really a blockbuster when it comes to sales figures.
@@ooOPizzaHeadOoo They made 7.56 Billion dollars just last year off of their other IPs. $35M is quite literally 0.5% of their profits total off of *one year*. It's barely pocket change to them. The real reason it got canned is because EA doesn't publish something unless they're convinced it can be made for dirt cheap with ridiculous crunch and make insane amounts more than its funding required. Asylum would have been a wonderful game that couldn't outsell it's profits because EA is just a horrible horrible company. Their motto is succeed or die.
@@ooOPizzaHeadOoo THANK YOU for saying this. McGee has damn near gaslighted everyone into thinking EA is the big bad here for keeping the game locked away. A lot of people don't seem to realise that Alice in Wonderland is also public domain... Meaning he could still do another game, just not using old assets and would need to change the name... but quite literally still release a game with Alice as the MC and the setting STILL in Wonderland.
@@Dirarudo So, the thing about that... Alice In Wonderland is public domain. Anyone, including American McGee and even yourself, can make a game set in wonderland with Alice as the main character. This game could easily be made with a different name, change Alice's last name (or simply never state it) and be mostly good to go with EA being unable to do a single thing about it, as long is it isn't literally reusing assets from the previous two games. This is also why Tim Burton's Wonderland felt so similar to McGee's - there was nothing EA could do about it, and both parties knew that. Unfortunately McGee's deal is about wanting more money than EA is willing to give him. That being said, I would love to see you flesh this out into your own vision of an Alice In Wonderland game! Great work, keep it up.
I really don't understand why American doesn't just make the game himself. He has money, he's been running Spicy Horse for like 20 yrs I assume he should have at least a couple million. All he has to do is change the Alice look, and create diff renderings of the chesire cat ect... and as long as he doesn't call it American Mcgee's he's good. Even Alice Asylum is clear I don't understand why he keeps waiting for Ea to grant permission.
@@ooOPizzaHeadOoo He cant. He was told by EA that they will view it as him trying to "steal the IP" if he will try to work on it in any way. And EA has some really good lawyers.
@@RoseRoxy he should do it anyway, ea doesn't own alice it's public domain, as long as the new version is different character wise and he doesnt call it american mcgee's alice he's in the clear, even if they sue they wont win. he just needs to re-imagine the alice theme so it's still a gothic version wihout being the same as the American Mcgee's Alice one.
Finished Madness Returns again, a decade later, continues to be one of my favs. Currently playing Alice 1 (American McGee's 1st). Sad to think this has ended when it clearly has so much potential, specially given BIGLY game studios seem to have gone the Holllywood safe route in their "creative" efforts 🤔😔
Can we like group up and just make it as a fan project? Like we have the desighn bible, American Mcgee himself cant work on it, but there are a bunch of talented fans out there!
This sort of reminds me of the first time I noticed Cheshire Cat as a moon in School of Daze level and the sky in Chess Realm(black and white) from the first game. The atmosphere feels similar. 😃
I love this so much!❤🔥the music and the visuals are just so beautiful❤🔥I too am thinking about using Unreal engine 5 to bring Alice Asylum to life like American Mcgee spoke about for us to do.
This just blew my mind! Love the vision!! Too Bad EA pulled the scummy mov they did. Hopefully one day we can enjoy true creativity in gaming without BS companies like EA
This is amazing.. but I gotta be honest.. the more I look at your awesome work the more I get sad. EA have tons of potentials that they destroyed and took from the director McGee. I will not trust them after what they have done to him.

im mourning over this, praying we will get it someday, legally or not- I would do anything
maybe someday... :(
This is what EA took away from us
I know, that's so sad!

This is what American McGee wants!! Fans carrying on his dreams bc he no longer has the energy to fight 😢

That's so nice, at least Alice got loyal good fans

There was a lot of love behind Alice, so bad it had to end this way :(
This is absolutely amazing, but also so sad…
thanks!
such an amazing work done here.. pure joy

that would be cool, but you know, would be difficult too...
It's a brilliant idea but it's complicated since EA has Alice IP. They would sue you for that.
@@Rashelluky I know, and i don't have the equipment to create a whole game too... so yeah, just fan environments
Bro wouldn't it be absolutely hilarious if you plopped a player controllable character in here and released it as a playable demo
Looks like that's what's happening
hehe yeah I tried to give that feeling, at least something that makes us believe Alice Asylum is possible

I'm so mad at EA! 😡It's so beautiful. 😢
Thanks!, i know, it is so sad :(
So you make the game ?
unfortunately, not at all, It was just a fan-made environment
