It's an amazing place. Visited over 30 years ago, no railway then, it was a cable car from top to bottom in those days... Quite an experience....

We went here on a coach tour when the kids were small. We queued for so long to see the maddonna. The kids weren't impressed. Im sure we didn't pay to get in but I can remember buying a candle to light inside. It is a beautiful and expensive. X

Hi Guys thanks for the last 2 vlogs they brought back happy memories from my visit with my late mum. Montserrat and Barcelona are great to visit. I'm sure you realise but Montserrat means serrated mountain you only need to look and you'll see why.

Wow what fantastic views I've never seen this place before until now. You show us some amazing places that's for sure. That train was pretty on the edge coming down not to mention the steepness of that funicular. Mark was getting me worried going to that cliff edge knowing what he's like. You need a good head for heights.

I couldn't believe it when Mark was right near the edge, I had to cover my eyes, if I went there I'd have a nervous breakdown, I am not good with heights at all, but very beautiful all the same.

OMW. I was about 12 when my family visited the Basilica at Montserrat. I'm almost 68 now. Now you've said it I remember "Black Madonna" but nothing about it. There wasn't a train back then. We were in a coach on the twisty road. Scary! I don't remember there being any shops and it being such a huge complex. At 12 though I was probably pretty bored with it all and would have preferred to be somewhere/anywhere else. 😉

That was a stunning adveture
We went up when covid was on. We drove to the top car park and although the buildings were closed you were able to roam anywhere in the grounds. Its a gem of a place.

Love it, the weather, actually not too bad here this week so far. But it will piss down soon, probably tonight. There's Black Madonna's in loads of cities, in Spain, on Tenerife, in Poland etc. it's like Nessie, except you can actually see it. Tourism innit. Hope you head for Costa Blanca and some of my previous suggestions but if not just enjoy the best of the Spanish Spring / Summer. 🌞

Hi Mark & Lisa, loved vlog, we were in Monserrat over 15 years ago, we went up there by cable car. It is famous for the Benedictine monks and one of the best boys choir in the world, (The school boys of Monserrat) they are trained and schooled there and live in the convent there. The choir goes back over 400 years and it’s only in the last 50 years that they have performed outside the monastery 10/15 times a year…..still remember it as amazing, Mary, Clonakilty. 🇨🇮
