      Nope, the bins get collected weekly for free, it’s free to drop off at the tip, and you can get a council collection for large pieces for a fee of around £25 I think. (My local council anyway). People still just fly tip over here in the uk 🤷🏻‍♀️

      @@stephtaylor3218 Bulk uplifts cost £43.50 where I am- coup is free, but if you want to bring a trailer or van you have to book it in advance. £43.50 is A LOT for me to pay and I don't own a motorvehicle, if I need to do a clearout and I can't find a friend to help, what do I do? If I pay £43.50- I ain't eating that week!!

      @leightonsullivan3552 Год назад +2

      Bin collection comes within the price everyone pays for council tax, mine is £140pm and they collect a small bin every 2 weeks and recycling is done weekly, its inefficient for a family so I take a couple bags every so often to the tip for free. They open the bags to make sure there's no recycling in it and are rude in their criticism ive had 'you again, dont you take a day off' 😅 it's a crap system I have 3 kids and work 60 hours a week I don't need judgement from snide jerks so I'm rude back

    • @leightonsullivan3552

      We are allowed 1 bag of rubble per week or you get charged extra, theres some odd rules, your allowed to take a 2 wheel trailer free but a 4 wheel trailer is charged the size is irrelevant at the tip.

    When i lived at Germany we used to have what is known as bulk rubbish, it would be on the front ready to collect by lets say the bin men, on a night people would go round and see what they could get as others could use a chair or a wardrobe but it was a great way to get rid and trust me Germany is very clean and probably due to this, the UK should also do this, as they take everything that is put out

    • @5688gamble

      Used to do this in Glasgow, I got some good furniture, I salvaged computer parts to build PCs for a little extra cash, found all sorts of stuff I could sell! I used to be an addict, so finding things like CDs and DVDs, computers and other electronics that could be fixed and salvaging scrap gold from the stuff that couldn't be used was a good way to avoid getting into trouble! These days they charge an uplift fee and you can't leave stuff on the street anymore- as a result you see more fly-tipping!
      Another thing I wish we'd import from Germany- glass deposit schemes! I have punctured many bike tyres because people just throw glass bottles on the ground!

    • @callumBee
      @callumBee Год назад

      Sadly in the UK its all about money! Councils have wasted so much money on pointless stuff over the years that they charge a small fortune for uplift. Hell we have to pay to have our garden waste removed! They dont make it easy to remove bulk waste and getting a 3rd party to remove it is eye wateringly expensive too. So no wonder why fly tipping is so bad...

    Why are council workers not given magnets so it makes it easier to find the syringes or in large areas, metal detectors so it saves more lives. This place under the bridge needs a got rake and wheelbarrow. A bright sensor light would be more effective with fencing to stop them getting under.
    If there were more areas where people can go into protected areas that have an emergency phone and seperate bins for needles/syringes, used condoms, condom machines, and a couple of beds with a stainless steel toilet and shower for the homeless. Some old towels and blankets can always be dropped off and taken back each day.

Punishment doesn't stop people doing it, the best way to reduce it is to make it cheaper and more convenient to dispose of rubbish properly! Besides with the cost of cleaning it up and the equipment- you'd save money by just doing free uplifts or opening the coup up to vans!

    Why does it take two blokes and two vehicles to retrieve a couple of cameras and to look for evidence? One would think they'd take a sample shot to make sure the camera is correctly sited & the lens isn't obscured to improve the probability of capturing essential evidence. They need better training.
    Why not contact the local drug agency to highlight safe disposal of needles? Bung a used needle bin up on a post, saves picking the needles up.
    I've found fly tips & found evidence of who tipped it:they got a telling off, no fine. I don't bother contacting my council anymore. No wonder council tax is so high, they waste resources or don't maximise what resources they have.

The local council or whoever needs to send the bill for the clean up of needles to the local drug agency. Still, there will always be careless drug users, but there are conscientious ones too: I was one such, as were my mates. We are of the older generation though, who remember when needles weren't easily obtained and the onset of AIDS. 80 people in Edinburgh got HIV through sharing needles back in the early 80's.
