Since I lost my husband 4 years ago I haven't created anything at all. I had no desire to try. My granddaughter lives with me and she's 8 yrs old. She has severe OCD. We watch your videos and you inspire the both of us. I have never tried mixed media or art journaling but Madison asked me if we could do what you do. I think it would help her. It would help me. You inspire us. We need to heal. A creative outlet can help you heal. I had no desire for years and years even before my husband passed away. Now I do. Madison does. We thank you Marta. May God bless you abundantly. You have a beautiful soul. 😊
Four and a half years for me. I totally understand where you were when you wrote your message. I've made a couple of small presents recently...but other than that, I've figured that at least getting back to watching craft videos is at least something. Wishing us both healing crafting. x
So sorry for your loss. I went through something similar. My father-in-law passed away a few years ago … I looked after him for years. It took me forever to do anything in my craft room. Finally, thanks to Marta and Ceri Griffiths they inspired me want to craft again. I hope this helps you and your granddaughter. And yes, Marta does have a beautiful soul.
Sending healing light and love ❤
I loved this when you said, "I'm just hoarder"! thank you, really appreciate that.
Okay Marta, I found your channel about a week or so ago, and I learn something from every one of them. From this one I learned:
Number 1: keep piling and remember it is all getting covered with gesso, so go for it.
Number 2: Sometimes it looks as good upside down than right side up... at 28 minutes in, you turned it upside down and it looked like a church with a doorway and all the little wooden elements looked like a congregation coming to church! So I learned that if you don't like it the way you think is the right direction... change directions!
Number 3: I learned I can enjoy using up the 'crap' that I have piled around and stick it together and cover it up with paint and it won't look like 'crap' any more!
Thanks Marta... as soon as my workshop is complete this is exactly what I am going to do. Now... on to another of your interesting and fun videos... Keep 'em coming!
You are a creative genius. I craft while I watch and really enjoy your videos. It's almost like you are sitting right across the table from me and we are just having a great time crafting.
Amazing how you have evolved yourself throughout the years. Enjoyed watching this. 😊
No matter how many of your videos I watch, I don't always know where you are going or am too thrilled at the beginning but at the end I am always always always AMAZED at the end result. You always manage to create pure BEAUTY!
NOTHING IS MORE RELAXING THAN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS! TFS!
leftovers can create magic..how beautifully you have arranged those stuffs ..great work mam..love it
Marta, I did not have high hope for this project. However, you truly turned trash into treasure! Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The gesso pulls it all together. You had me worried there for a while. I just love listening to your thought processes.
This is FABULOUS!!!! Oh Marta, I L❤VE IT!! You are so special. I hope you know that. ❤️❤️❤️
As always, thank you for sharing❤️
Once I have made something like a junk "selfmade-canvas" too and it turned out that one of the best pieces I ever made.
I totally forgot about it but now I remember it, while you are just taking the hot glue to create something and not just to glue things on.
I didnt had anything and no really idea and it is the best example that you dont need "special art things" (like special colors, brushes, glues) to create some. Because I had nothing, I checked the garage what I can find there... here is what I did:
At first I had no canvas, so I instead took the lid from an old shoe box and an old piece of tablecloth, wich I dipped into wallpaper paste, draped it a bit wildly and wavy on the lid and let it dry.
As backgroundcolor I choosed the silver paint spray I found and let it dry again.
Then I took every little things I found laying around. From colored or black pins, nails, screws a small hex wrench and other handy things about small boxes, plastic jewelry and so on.
I still had no idea what it should be. But THEN!, towards the end, I discovered a fat black gummy spider from an old slimy-pack (do you remember these?) and I took it. Yeay, that was exactly what I needed! :D
I glued the things on with hot glue and I pulled extra threads with it, what created the effect of a spider web.
After all, I still missed something. I took an old CD, the ones that have the turquoise-blue colored shimmery on the backside and broke it into pieces, so I could highlight some contours of the cloth on one side with it. GREAT!
It looked like a big spiders hiding place, that you can imagine in lonely old houses somewhere behind a wall.
I loved it and it was the first and only piece I hung up in my apartment. Everyone who saw it was absolutely thrilled and wanted to have it. Unfortunately it broke as we moved few years later. :(
But who would expect that wallpaper paste, hot glue, lacquer paint, junk and a gummy Spider are enough to make impressing art :D
Another gorgeous project. Everything you do is so beautiful! You are so gifted.
Oh Marta. You make me smile from ear to ear. Your "am-hoo" and your "aahuu" and your "wow"!!!
I watch your videos way more than once or twice and I talk to myself as if I am you whenever I do
my projects!!!
Thank you for your enthusiasm and your attitude. I think you are really great, a good teacher and artist. I have just started doing mixed media after a long life of creating art, drawing, painting and sculpture and with mixed medium I am able to fit a lot of my old pieces together into now things.
I think you are very brave and innovative. I wouldn't have seen any of your vision. I always enjoy seeing your creations and processes. .thank you so much for your "go for it" attitude.
Thank you !! :)
OMG I am so impressed ...I was searching a new way to finish a journal cover and watched the one where you did this on a journal cover and it was beautiful , now this out of left over junky things ...when you started I was skeptical on whether it would look good , but low and behold , you pulled it out amazingly ..I am so impressed ...cant wait to see the next one now ...love it !
i have to admit that i'm quite amazed with the outcome of it... it looks stunning ....
So fun watching you make something beautiful and interesting! Love!!!
Wow!! How fun was this!!! It turned out so cute. I couldn't believe it. Thank you Maremi. Great way to use the leftovers. USA
Uwielbiam Cie Marta, nie tylko za piekne rzeczy ktore tworzysz.Jestes wspaniala, ciepla osoba, ktora zawsze rozswietli moj dzien.Pieknie dziekuje
You have such a good eye. I like that you talk about the process and therefore teaching others to be happy with their composition. Love you and your art.
I was not too sure in the beginning but you made a stunning piece, as you always do . I really enjoyd it. And my husband was watching because I watched as I had my morning coffee and we both smiled as you chatted about Husbands and partners. Thank you so much!!!!!
Marta, you're the only reason I've entered the beautiful galaxy of mix media art. Everything u touch turns into shimmery shiny pure amazing love. Just perfect! 🌱
I just adore how you say , " I have no clue where Im going with this " then you end up with a master piece !! I love what you do with no clues !!!
Stunning! Enjoyed watching you create with your odds and ends.
your string wrap creates gorgeous textures omg 🦋🌻
Watching the process from beginning to end was just amazing. I never would have thought that this beautiful creation would evolve.
It turned out to be a TRUE work of art
I am amazed at the end result! You are right, I won't be able to recreate a canvas like this! But I am inspired to do my own using junk! I really like how you used gesso then the sprays!! There were times I would have quit or done something different but you made it better than I imagined! Thank you for sharing!!
YAY. You did it.!!!! It is gorgeous! Applause, applause!!! 👍👍🤗🤗🤗
Marta, I couldn't help to giggle with you today!! But you are a very brave girl :) Thanks for cheering my day!!
I watched this on my roku last night so I couldn't comment so I am going to comment now. You are amazing! It starts out ugly and unflolds into something absolutely beautiful! Just love watching you!
I love your ideas using odd random items, I have a lot of things that I don't want to get rid of but everyone tells me to get rid and stop holding onto things that I will never use. And I just can't part with some things especially things from when I was little and now you have given me inspiration on what to do, even if I can alter them. I can say this is why I kept these! Thank you! Love your ideas and how your projects come together as you go!
Amazing!!!!!!!! I'm bowled over by this fantastic and brilliant and unique
A stunning piece of junk canvas art, Marta! I love it! From looking like nothing interesting at all to a stunning piece of art I'd be proud to have hanging in my home! I love it! My favorite piece of it is that beaded fabric which adds so much gorgeous texture! Those zippers look pretty awesome too! Thank you for teaching and sharing and inspiring us! Have a blessed day!
Absolutely amazing Marta!!! 💜💜💜
Thank you so much!!
Your videos are wonderfully inspiring, thank you for the reminder that all that “junk” I’ve been saving can be given new life in a beautiful way!
I LOVE IT!!!!! It is wonderful how you can turn trash into beautiful treasure. You gave me some ideas. I have little to no art budget right now and miss creating. Thank you! I just love your videos! Please keep making them!
Amazing outcome! Beautiful! TFS!
you never cease to amaze me!! beautiful!
can I just say how amazing this turned out. your fearless I could listen to your voice all day...your so sweet. I just really enjoyed watching you create
BEAUTIFIL as is everything you create!
I love how this came out and I had my doubts! : O
This is silly but one of my favorite elements is the zipper at the bottom. The string also makes a big difference, it's amazing how it all comes together when painted. I wanted you to put a bit of pink or red on that sunshine looking white thing between the orange and green side.
I have made compositions and painted everything black with touches of gold or silver but I've never used my sprays so into the garbage bin I go! My sweet husband picks up silver objects in the parking lots or bits of change to add to my somethings! : )
Lottie Faith. I just love the way u look at things! And ur sweet husband! Sounds like the perfect crafter/artist's husband. Happy creating💖
Thank you. I am working on my miscellaneous creation today.
My hubby is great, we've just celebrated our31st anniversary in May, we've been best friends as long as I can remember. : ) He started as my brother's best friend.
what a hubbie, you got a winner there
Absolutely love your Cork accent and when you say things like Janey Mac and gobsmacked 😍 Love your art and attitude too of course!
I love the idea that your hubby wants to make a men's craft support group. that is so funny
It came together beautifully
I can't believe the pile of "stuff" you started with and where you ended up. You're creativity is amazing!
Hi. I have to admit when you were first arranging everything I though it was going to be awful, but it is beautiful! You have a wonderful talent. You have inspired me to have more fun with my art. I shall now watch all your past videos :)
WOW! I am blown away on how wonderful, pretty, and to use your word, "Stunning" this came out from all those pieces that did not seem to be much of anything.Loved the blue thing when you used it and love it even more now. Great Job Marta. :)
your voice is so soothing, my boy Lukas just fell asleep listening to you 😁 thank you
Marta, I really had my doubts on this particular trash to treasure project. I could not see how that pile of rubbish could be transformed into something.
But you did it!! I absolutely love how it turned out. I am still shocked at how beautiful it is. You are truly an artist and truly amazing. I love your work.
Trash art that turns out super beautiful. Wonderful job Marta.
I am just speechless. everything you make turns out so gorgeous!
You never fail to amaze me how you make something beautiful out of scraps.
you are awesome.you make me want to create constantly.and I love your work and your accent it is so soothing.
As always such an amazing piece. Just have to say hi from my husband also, he's very supportive of my crafts but he usually doesn't get involved and did roll his eyes when I watched something craft related on TV, that was until I found your channel as he actually enjoys your videos. I'm lucky enough to be attending a workshop with you next month, can't wait 💕
yay !!! :) that is so amazing to hear :) I must say hello to him in person then :) hehe
BEAUTIFUL MAREMI!!!
FABULOUS to see how it develops as I drink my mug of tea.
BRILLIANT!!! Love how that cloth piece turned out the most! WOW Marta!!!! I sure would love a video from you everyday!!! Glad it was Monday though, its my day off!
Ohmigosh! It's crazy how gorgeous this came out😍
It’s so amazing what gesso can do! ❤ I need to stop watching you now and start creating! 😂❤ thank you for sharing
Love your mixed media....you make it look beautiful and easy
Thank you Marta, for helping me understand the chipboard . I've used it before, trying to make earrings. Now after learning about gesso from you I may retry that again! ❤️
I could not see where you were going with this project I was thinking it was too much.but I enjoyed the process and it looked beautiful when you fin I shed it. Thankyou looking forward to getting started!
Absolutely Stunning!
Wow... You are a VERY creative person. I find your work just beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with the world. Please continue to be just you and create wonderful things. The world needs more pretty things in it!!!
I use quite abit of left over art supplies myself. It's really fun. Plus it makes some room for when I will buy some more craft supplies.
AWESOME! I couldn't wait to see the project. I💓it.
watching this on a break from rearranging my craft room and you've given me hope for all the "junk" I've found 😍😍
I love all your tutorials, Marta! You are such a creative soul and filled with light and love!
When I watch your videos, I tend to be working on my bookmarks that I'm knotting. It's boring work, so it goes faster when I'm watching youtube. Your voice is nice and soothing for that, too.
I haven't done too many mixed media projects yet, but I'm planning on making book covers and then binding them into notebooks.
Wow! After all of your videos you'd think that I would learn my lesson. I started doubting how it would turn out. Of course, again, I was wrong! It turned out wonderfully.
Ok, now with you using gesso it makes more sense. My husband is building me a "she shed". A small shed in our yard is being added onto and most of the space will be mine!!! All mine!! Can't wait!! A place "she" can go ab=no craft or paint.
Barb Templin yeah !!! so happy for you ♡♡♡♡♡♡
Barb Templin oooh I'm so excited for you but oh sooo envious lol xx
Barb Templin lucky you ! Are you in a warm place? I live where there's winter So I woukdnt be able to work or keep my art / craft material in the shed
I just love it....the texture, the colours... its just amazing!!!
love and hugs Marta.
I love it! Thank you for showing this....without spending loads on supplies.
Always so AMAZING 🤩
Funny when you said people put everything it remind me of my first piece. I really loaded it up 😂 now years later I look back and say what was I thinking, sure wasn’t composition 😂 . Thank you for this video and all you share. If I have gotten better it’s because of your honesty about how you see mix media art. Thank you. You must be proud of Emily she is doing a great job. A mini-you in the makings.
Great job using your junk... It came out really awesome !!!!
You are so inspiring! I just love to watch you create! I was pretty worried about this project in the beginning, but it is absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us!
Just love the result. You are truly an artist! Subscribed!
This turned out awesome! I love recycling & repurposing. Thank you very much for sharing!
Wow! This is beautiful.
What a wonderful piece! This reminds me of Finnabair but using stuff that’s leftover instead of the hardware she uses. I’m impressed with your keen ability to always take things in a very unique direction. Amazing!
you have the amazing capability to turn anything into a master piece!! Love your work
Wow how lovely,Marta, love your tutorials
I have to tell you that when I show my husband something I am working on or have made, he always tells me it is nice, but what is it for? Funny that you talked about this! My husband still supports me doing my crafts, as he know it makes me happy.
I'm ashamed to admit it but I really wasnt sure I was going to like this piece at the beginning, but WOW Marta, you did such an awesome job transforming all those random bits & pieces into something so beautiful. Truley inspirational 💗💗💗

3 minutes in, OMgoodness-this is a monstrosity of a first piece. LOL. But I know something beautiful is coming already. I have been keeping up with you for a year, and I love your with, and how truly talented and feel design almost intuitively. Thanks for all you do!
A beautiful piece of art made out of stuff that would have been thrown away and now have a home. TYFS
Such a wonderful tutorial. You have really opened me up to so many new possibilities to explore. Thank you!
