Phantom Manor - Martins 2022 Ultimate Tribute

- 3 years ago I did a Phantom Manor ride edit. Taking the basis of this, I decided to see if I could improve it. 31 rides later and I have a whole new shot-in-4K edit.
Start with a look at the history of the attraction and it’s storyline, then take a close look at every major change made in the 2018 rebuild. Following this is a detailed visit to the attraction, starting outside in the garden and through the whole Manor and out and around Boot Hill Cemetery. I tried to cover every detail inside and outside including closeups of things often missed. Picture quality is much better than my previous edit, and I tried with each shot to present things as guests see them on the ride - not too dark and not too bright. Audio is a brand new, better quality mix with more source than before too. Finish off with a walk around the manor and the cemetery at night. At an hour long I hope you think this is one of the most comprehensive looks at the attraction to date.
Enjoy! Развлечения
Phantom Manor and its Frontierland are perfect examples of good theme park storytelling. It’s not in your face where it comes off as desperate or cringey like a lot of modern theme park stories. Instead, whether you’re in the queue, a gift shop, or strolling around, there’s just that looming feeling that there’s a reason behind everything you’re seeing. Phantom Manor was the first time as an adult where I walked off a ride genuinely wanting to know more about the story.
Thanks for these Martin, your videos always help bring appreciation to the insane detail that goes into these things. Nice new voiceover too!
As French speaker. You got it right. Our DLP Frontierland has probably the best layout, a Wild West feature which called Thunder Mesa.
Like you mentionned in your comment, it's got a storytelling which is true.
Most likely the Whole Frontierland is connected with the backstory of Phantom Manor. Even Thunder Mountain The owner of this Haunted Mansion is the one who runs the Big Mine Company
Henry Ravenswood
I know the Story very vell. I've done the original ride many times as a kid and teen before it was refurbished (before 2017)
OMG voice over!!!!
This is the best haunted mansion in any Disney park. Wonderful video well done. 😍👰🏻♀️💐💀🎩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's the best Haunted Mansion. Our French Phantom Manor.
The only one that looks scary, creepy and delapidated on the outside in all of Disney Park.
Also the only ony where you walk through the front door
🇫🇷🏚️😈👻🎃🕸️🕷️
I miss all the original details of this house, reminds me so much my childhood. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
The amount of work and effort you put into this...! Thank you so much.
As someone who likely will never be able to go see this version of the Mansion personally, I really appreciated how you filmed the details. Especially the stretching room scene! Its impossible to get observe all of those in one sitting with a camera, and it was amazing to see the effect flow in no hurry from each portrait.
I especially appreciated all the angles and different shots you stitched together so we could better understand the breadth of the attraction's scenes, which for years have been difficult to understand as an onlooker. Thanks!
Your ultimate tribute videos are so informative and engaging! Thank you for the work you put into these.
Incidentally, your documentation of Summer Nightastic at WDW helped preserve a special moment in time for my family. It is irreplaceable.
One of my fave Disney books is the big one on Haunted Mansion with the "tours" of each one. A shame this lost some of the more sinister touches but still a great ride and a terrific look at its history.
Love Phantom Manor - I've been about 3 or 4 times in total between 1993 and 2013 and can never remember them ever having that queue building with the fountain inside it being used so it's interesting getting up and close to it in your video
Martin's videos are second to none! I love seeing all the environmental details, and I appreciate how many ride throughs it took to capture full scenes.
I really wish that the restored effects/improved lighting of the refurb hadn't come at the cost of the story. The new scenes become repetitive in their attempt to hammer in the backstory (How many scenes of a static Phantom creeping over Melanie's shoulder did we need?) and aren't as visually interesting and evocative as what they replaced (ex: the "All is Vanity" boudoir and the skeletal Melanie).
Also the original sympathetic Melanie >>> the cartoonish cacking "insane" Melanie from the refurb. Way too similar to Constance from the US parks.
Amazing video!
That lullaby, though! “He’s here…” ☠️☠️
Hi Martin just wanted to said love your Disney documentary vidoes of the parks you do awsome video.
Yay voiceover! I can study the layout so much better now
Another awesome compilation.
Love the narration!
Well done you!!
Love the voiceover!
That was a spooktacular tribute to Phantom Manor, thanks for the Halloween Treat Martin!!!
Like always love your videos Martin. 👍👌
Magnificent. If that's your voice on the vid Martin, you've definitely got one more talent to exploit 😉. Thanks.
Was hoping that some day you'd put out a new Phantom Manor video.. and you did it! Thank you so much Martin!
This sounds like first tribute video with commentary. :D Always excited to watch these history videos.
Henery Ravenswood was of course Sir Vincent Price. Paris version was the next level HM over the America versions.
Indeed. As French speaker. I can tell you our Phantom Manor is the best Haunted Mansion when it comes to storytelling.
The only one that looks scary and dilapidated with a creepy cementary.
Also the only one where you walk in through the front door. You literrally walk in through the front door while the other you go past it
What's even cooler, the Whole Frontierland is connected with the backstory of Phantom Manor. Even the Big Thunder Mountain
The Owner of the Mansion is the one who runs the Big Mine Company
Henry Ravenswood
Vincent Price's voice was perfect for the Phantom Manor.
Always Amazing Work
i know he's being doing this for a lil bit now, but im so not used to hearing a voice instead of reading at the bottom of the screen
Was Definitely Not expecting a Northern English/Yorkshire accent! For some reason, I always thought Martin was American…
@@edvaira6891 Same here
Excellent narration! You should go back and maybe remaster some of your other videos? Well done!
Very nicely done 👍🏻
Haunted mansion/Phantom manor is the most happy-go-lucky haunted house in the world ;)
It’s been a while since I’ve watched your videos Martin but this is fantastic.
Wonderful
I like Phantom Manor
Just in time for Halloween! Great job!
Just in time for Halloween
You did an awesome job with the sound of this video. I watched it with a surround system, felt like im at the manor 😅.
And the winner for worst disney father is… Henry Ravenswood.
47:51 i really wish the doombuggies went slower here. Its my favourite animatronic in the entire ride and his movements are so good, yet we only see him for a few seconds and cannot see his full animation
A Halloween Miracle
Yes there's good theme park storytelling in Phantom Manor and in Frontierland. But there's times where some story beats don't work for everyone, especially in Phantom Manor. As for me, I am happy that the mystery of who the phantom in Phantom Manor is is solved. And I love the detailing of the attraction in the original and updated versions. Madame Leota is a treat to see for me no matter where she is. However, I don't like how Melanie went from sympathetic to basically taking the hitchhiking ghost spot of the phantom aka Henry Ravenswood (I understand she'd gone mad from being trapped in the house for so long, I mean who wouldn't? But I feel like it was forced storytelling wise.). And I would've liked more of a mix of the old with the new (i.e. keep the four suitors but also bring Jake in as well. And have the original stretching portraits alongside the newer ones, showing the curse that Melanie and her family are stuck with.) and more reason of why Henry was overprotective (now that we know Henry Ravenswood is the Phantom, I feel like it could come off as creepy, abusive, and/or incestuous in the wrong context if we don't get the reason why he's become overprotective of his daughter. Like a certain someone from one of my sister's favorite shows said, "Evil is not born, it is made."). If they must have Melanie take the hitchhiking ghost spot, why not have her desperately plead for help before being scared away by the Phantom shaking the carriage like in the original? I'm not someone who creates animatronics or theme park rides, but as a storyteller I would've done that.
But to each their own.
The English speaking voice is vincent price but they couldn’t use it when it first opened because the French government wanted just a French speaking person doing the voice but when they did the refurb the French government allowed Disney use the English speaking voice as well as the French voice.

How about a tribute to the Tokyo Disneysea version of Fantasmic?
P.S: That's the second time I heard you narration of the history of the parks and rides since WDSP tribute video.
🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🦇🦇🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔🦡🦡🦡🐾🐾🐾🦉🦉🦉🦉🦎🦎🦎
Hey Martin Can you do a Tribute video (like this one) for the updated version Fantasmic at WDW because its reopening this thursday just after two year, 11 months, and 3 day's of being closed due to Covid 19 please
16:33 What Song Is This And Is It Available On Spotify?
Love your content! However, I liked the old way you did your videos better, as the subtitles allowed people like me who have hearing issues to understand your videos better. Is it possible to add subtitles in alongside the voiceover? Thanks!
We’re working on getting the RUclips subtitles working - Martin
You're doing commentary!
Anyone know what the song at 17:15 is?
I don’t know; but I want it! 🤣💕
MARTIN VOICE REVEAL?????????????
