    From an interview with Ren:
    The pig represents everything that sucks but that he can't escape from. But...pretty soon you are so used to the pig that it's like a companion that offers familiarity, even when it's taunting and hurting you.

      I loved that 'pig-bae' was actually there to greet his treasure hunters in the middle of a wood on a remote Scottish island for the release of the album! I realise that sounds like a very random sentence to people who didn't follow the whole 7 sins treasure hunt! Love the pig symbolism, it sums up capitalism, greed, illness, as you say, everything he can't escape from.

    Most of his videos are filmed in Brighton, England. And yes he loves the one-take videos.
    It’s funny you mentioned Clockwork Orange. He’s a big Kubrick fan. The video for “Animal Flow” is a fun one 😼
    Ren just did a great interview with Zach Sang (Amazon) and to everyone’s surprise he actually explained his thoughts about the pig mask 🐷 He posted the interview yesterday in his community post.

    "There's gotta be some way."
    Practice, practice, practice. You repeat something often enough, you will remember it.
    He mentions that for the Tales videos he practiced the guitar parts for so long that the playing was muscle memory and he only had to worry about the words and acting.

    hello, dear! great channel & reactions! i saw 'clock work orange' at the theatre when it first came out. i'm that frickin' old!! RE: pig mask, i think i remember ren saying that when he was misdiagnosed, they gave him phych meds and he had hallucinations, some pig headed people included. his health is messed up partly because of the years it took them to diagnose his lyme disease. ren is back in canada, starting a course of hard treatment, that will put him out of pocket til feb 2024. please join me in prayer for ren's healing, he's been thru enough. kathleen bts renegade

      Shhhh the best answer is the greater symbolism at play, and how we're each personally uncomfortable with the imagery. But yes, you're right

  • @serendipitish
    @serendipitish 8 месяцев назад +26

    I think this one is recommended as a demonstration often, but less for the fast rap (though of course he does that well, and with "t' sound alliteration to boot), but for the flow agility. Many other rappers, if they had that many flows they were good at, would use each one in a different song, or maybe with one change-up for the hook. But Ren stitches something like nine different flows into this 2-1/2 minute Frankenstein's monster of a song! And not just changes in the rhythm of the rap, but different vocal tones, vocal volume, attitude, and even slightly different accents, transitioning from one to the next seamlessly with each change in the beat.
    Did we mention that he produced that beat himself in his bedroom studio? And did the beatboxing for the last part of the song? Kiddie with a black heart he says, and we say 🖤🖤🖤‼

    Yo! Check out “Animal Flow”! It’s not a story in the same way Hi Ren or Jenny and Screech is, but it’s definitely a visual feast, as well as being one of the most complex one takes he’s made (except maybe for his most recent Money Games).
    Also, I recommend watching the official version of “Animal Flow” first, followed by the acoustic version of the same song. It’s so cool to see how he can visualize and bring to life two totally different versions of the same song. Thanks 🙏

    Semantic memory can improve with age.
    Exercise, sleep, reading, jigsaws, learn new skills, write down what you want to remember. (All the stuff we did to study for exams at school, but not cramming, as that just goes into developing short term memories). Organise it into sections,
    Ed to add: Try learning a mnemonic technique of making pictures in your mind. Conversation with quick witted people also helps develop thinking on your feet.
    All hard work, but if you really want it, you will do it. Good luck and keep us informed as to your progress.

There are many songs he has done in collaboration with various artists and many from each band he has been a part of: Trick the Fox
    The Big Push.

    @renmakesmusic ! Ren recently reacted to someone I follow, who has less than 400 subs. Ren is AMAZING at noticing as many reactors as he can. It's one of the reasons I love him. Great reaction as always... If you like rap: Genesis, Illest of Our Time, Power - those are my next recommendations.

  • @catsandcrafts171
    @catsandcrafts171 8 месяцев назад +2

    I totally feel you with the crap memory thing ... I've always had a 'not-bad' voice but I can't sing because I can't remember songs! My ex husband was the same with guitar - he could play the first few bars of hundreds of tracks, flawlessly, but he could never remember what came next! Thing is with Ren... I'm finding that after watching a track a few times, the flow is just leading me through the lyrics and I can remember a lot more than I can of most other songs. The Hunger is harder because it's fast, but tracks like Animal Flow, and even Hi Ren, I find myself singing when I'm pottering around the house and I surprise myself by how well I know them! Keep listening, m'dude, I'm loving watching your Ren journey! And just look how well it's worked out for Ren, embracing the reaction community instead of fighting them! I think it's more about record companies and copyrights rather than the artists. I'm sure a lot of signed artists are now looking on at the independent artists with some jealously about being able to harness the power of the reactors and the youtube algorithms! Enjoy your popcorn :)

    Thinking through the symbolism, and what the Pig head/man symbolises for you personally is 90% of the meaning. Ren makes art so ALL INTERPRETATION IS VALID❤

    We're like the 51st state here in the UK, we get tons of cultural stuff from TV, music etc. Our news channels are filled with US news, we have KFC, McDonalds, Dominoes and Pizza Hut, and in my town we just got a Wendys. US sport is still a bit niche although we are still able to see it. It's as if there is a one way mirror between the US and the UK where we get all your stuff and you are pretty much blind to the UK.

    The pig head is said to represent a couple things. Ren hasn’t come out with his opinion or his idea behind it because he wants his fans to interpret it for themselves. Some of the interpretations have included the medical industry and pill industry, being cutthroat and taking your money and treating us like meat. It might also be a commentary on societies greed And corruption. He’s also a big fan of an author called George Orwell, who wrote the book animal farm where the pigs take over

    I HAVE SEEN CLOCKWORK ORANGE many times. It is definitely strange, but a strange disturbance you can't not watch idk. I do however like the giant pen** sculpture and nose mask. Lol
