Their chemistry throughout the whole entire franchise is bland at best. As a couple, they don’t seem like they have chemistry at all with each other and they also seem like they act like a robot couple trying to emulate what human love is.

I remember getting something very different out of the original Matrix especially Neo's speech at the end.
The way I saw it, they were saying that Neo isn't special. He was just the first one who gained the presence of mind to do what he did. ANYONE could and the when he says "I'm going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible..." He's basically saying he's going to teach everyone else to be like he is. Because everyone can do it. He's only unique in that he did it first.
They seemed to abandon all that in the sequels but now that Trinity can do it too, and the way Smith says "anyone could have been you" makes me feel like they were alluding to that as the case again.

Lana Wachowski and Hugo Weaving were trying to get his Smith back, but Hugo was doing a play at the time and the scheduling was too intense.
It was a great epilogue for the series. They've confirmed that it was a one-off.
Edit: here's what Lana had to say about why Resurrections exists:
"Something really hard happened in which both my parents got ill. My dad first got ill and my wife and I went home to take care of them. We were really close to them - also a good friend also died in this short period.
It was just this constant grief: my dad died, then this friend died, then my mom died. I didn’t know how to process this kind of grief.
My brain has always reached into my imagination and one night I was just crying and I couldn’t sleep and suddenly my brain just exploded this whole story. I couldn’t have my mom and dad - I couldn’t talk to my mom or dad and yet suddenly I had Neo and Trinity, arguably the two most important characters in my life.
People can look at it and say 'well Neo's dead and now he's back and Trinity's dead and now she's back, isn't that comforting?' Yeah it was! It was immediately comforting.
It's simple and that's what art and stories do, they comfort us."

mickey, i'm also all in. tbh, the one thing i absolutely did not want out of this movie was a flashy sequel hook and they went and made "how to brainstorm a flashy sequel hook" part of the goddamn simulation. i think making thomas anderson a game designer was a fucking genius move. i love how reality and even the camera frame warps around this morpheus and accentuates his role as psychopomp. i have a dark brown cat named io. she doesn't have a bell around her neck, but hey, now i'm automatically investested in the survival of io as a community. i loved when niobe talked about waking into silence. i'm praying for that someday.
and i love the preciousness of a strawberry. i grow things to eat and to remedy. people don't see the revolution in a seed, but you have the feed the minds you free.
I see a lot more buddhist influence in this one. the flickering of past lives and altered egos in reflections while a recurrent simulation runs on suffering. they are able to build on the cycle of samsara that they set up in the original trilogy and make it more acute. i like how the movie makes a distinction between choice/free will and consent. they risk everything to give trinity the choice that she didn't have before, not only to be free but to be equal to neo if she wants him. she's not in love with him because he's special when she has the same abilities, we're not doing the ubermensch thing, we're talking community building and justice and consensus rule that includes all sentient life. yes. more of this please. i wanna see if we can get there

For the Wachosky sisters, everything had already been said with the trilogy, the Animatrix movie and the Matrix Online game, that's why they didn't see a fourth part as necessary.

Bravo to Lana for releasing a movie like this in today's current blockbuster climate. What a ballsy move, and I hope she gets to make more movies like this.
Also Smith's line of "I can't believe Warner Brothers is getting us to make another Matrix" (or something like that) blew my mind as I was watching. I had to pause to comprehend for a few seconds. XD

let's take a moment to mind the fact that Neo coded a Morpheus knockoff by himself, sub-consciously, for one specific purpose, and *IT* delivered, on the first go.
tell me the name of *ONE* programmer who had pulled half a subroutine from their asses without having to double check it immediately after running it.

I liked the movie although I find it weird af. The cinematography is off sometimes and the action scenes weren't good. I think the first half of the movie was great but some different plot choices would've made it insanely better. Trinity being a program should've been the big reveal, with the machines deceveing Neo into thinking she's in the other pod. It would've opened up a whole new set of great ideas for the ending. Who's in the pod? Why do they need Neo there? Just an opinion :)

Man, I wanted to like this movie, but seeing familiar stuff doesn't make for a good movie to me. I like that they handled it better than other reboot/sequels. The action was just so bland compared to the first trilogy and I think it's because Yuen Wo Ping didn't come back to choreograph. Some of the filming choices and effects were damn near CW show quality. Good on folks enjoying it, but I just felt sad afterward.

    • @EdgarDiaz-pt4qx

I’m with you. This movie was highly disappointing. The action was terribly shot and nothing like the OG trilogy. Yuen Wo Ping was sorely missed here. Story had good moments, but good moments don’t make a good story. Overall it was a convoluted mess with terrible pacing and corny ass line delivery. I think people who like it just don’t want to accept that this was an obvious cash grab from WB trying to capitalize on a reboot/remake craze and we love the OG trilogy so much, we don’t want to admit how shitty this movie was

exactly the only two problems that I had with the Resurrection was the lightning and the camera work. Most of fighting scenes were poorly shoot. Not clean enough and I wasn't amazed and in awe of fighting scenes like I was during the trilogy. The story was good, the chemistry between Neo and Trinity was perfect. Like those 20 years I considered them to be one of the best cinematic couple and them being together at the end of the movie was everything I was hoping for crying my eyes out during Revolution when Trinity died.
All in all it was a good experience just a little messy I guess. Got sad by lack of distinguished OST like in the previous movies. Except for one song (the same in the trailer) no other cost was memorable. Also too much flashbacks that were so strange to see cuz of the differences in lightning.

The first viewing is a little confusing admittedly, but after some mulling over and looking at it a little deeper, it's actually a rather cool film that makes the Matrix Universe a bit bigger.
Guess it goes to show that some people just can't free their mind.
