My brain just exploded with this explanation. These videos have such a clear way of demonstrating theory that I just don’t seem to click with other peoples.
I think the genius behind this video is the fact you're teaching theory while giving us a musical example of how to actually use the concept in practice. I will forever remember that reggae arpeggio counterpart in both E and A strings. Killer.
Dude, a few months ago i had zero concept of anything theory. It looked so complicated that i was too afraid to start learning. Between you & SignalsMusicStudio i feel like i've progressed and gained the knowledge that would'cve otherwise taken me multiple YEARS.
I typically never write comments on any videos but just want to let you know you’re an awesome guitar teacher. Your visuals are especially top notch. So helpful. Thank you!
I know right! Best guitar lessons I’ve come across on YT. They are simple, quick, to the point, easy, and beautifully executed! “Pray the Rosary every day, in order to obtain Peace in the world…” -Our Lady’s Words at Fatima May 13th, 1917 --As always, Repent & believe in the Gospel! God Bless!
First video I´ve ever seen from your channel and you´ve taught me more about how to start using arpeggios than 100 other RUclipsrs combined ! Incredible
After 23 years of dickin' around with the damn guitar, your videos gave me the Eureka Ah-Ha moment. For me, you seem to hit the sweet spot of information flow and presentation. Somehow it all makes sense now. Thank you Sam!
guitar is so hard 😢 EDIT - It’s been 5 months since my post, i currently can add *some* arpeggios into my everyday playing. Thank you everyone for the kind words.
This is it! Understanding core logic will propel playing to new heights when the fundamentals are established. Arbitrary systems are one thing, but knowing the constituents is a cut above. Huge thank you.
I started playing guitar about 7 months ago and I’m so glad I found your channel. Very thankful for your teaching method and your hard work on the content. Thank you so much !
Hands down the best guitar lesson channel, and I've seen a few! A suggestion, though I'm not sure if it fits the theme - could you imagine making videos about technique as well? I've noticed you playing all your solos fingerstyle, something I'm still struggling with as I'm used to play them with a pick. Keep it up and thank you so much for your effort!!
This is the best. I just bought a book that recommended l3arning all of the scale shaoes first... then the names of the notes a good distance later. This makes way more sense instead. Please keep making these!
More to come!... busy life Currently! hoping to go full-time with samjamguitar by the end of the year so hopefully will be able to produce alot more content at that stage👌 feel free to share the channel around!
I was looking for such youtube channel which can explain not only practice but also theory and you know that expected knowledge and ultimate satisfaction I got in your channel... Keep it up and try not to ruin your image which you have created among your subscribers... Love from India....❤
Awesome, thank you! I am planning to upload alot more on Patreon soon (in the middle of moving my set-up) so hopefully you get some extra content soon! Thanks for watching!
By far the best there is. ( And no showing of......., no babbeling......,just teaching.....So glad.) I will recommend you to everyone who wants to play. And use your work to, to teach my girl.😁 Absolutely
Top quality lesson again Sam. You cover loads in one video but make it clear, practical and understandable at the same time. Finally getting time to try and make some more progress and will definitely be using your videos.
Wow extremely helpful stuff, instant sub. Love how you explained how you can play the same chords and arpeggios either by, keeping the shape and moving further, or changing the shape and moving less. I had never thought of that but it makes a lot of sense
Thank you for waking me up on this particular learning part! One thing I have is Visual Spacing memory and I usually see and copy, then apply note name and if memory helps, I usually remember.

This is the best asmr I've tried! I dont mean it as an insult - i really like your calm , soothing and intelligent voice x Can't play guitar for toffee - but even i can see how great you are!! I love you SamJam x ....I dare you to do something a bit crazy....??
This is an excellent video! Exactly what I needed to know. I’ve been playing for 23 years, but haven’t fully understood the dynamics of intervals. This has given me a great base for confidentiality navigating chord changes. Thank you.
Very helpful vid, thank you! It helped me see that I can start by practicing with the 1 5 1 of power chords, then add in thirds and the rest of the chord later.
I’ve learned so much from the few videos I’ve stumbled upon on your channel so I decided to subscribe. Safe to say it was an amazing choice to have you in my subscription notifications. Thank you for all that you do bossman!
The arpeggio at 2:05 is used on Zelda ocarina of time. (I can’t put my finger on exactly what part) I gotta learn that now! What a weird arpeg. The minor arpeggio is the one I know that I used to sweep pick loudly and sloppily all the time * you know my A is self taught/ saw a Jason Becker VHS when I was 14* hahaha. thank you for making this video :)
Great! Video suggestion: How to Replace Strings on a Guitar (for Beginners) Since you have a video on how to tune a guitar, I always thought it a bit weird that there was no video on how to replace strings. It could really help beginners. Keep up the good work!
This is a good example of why we all need a personal guitar teacher. What is being said in this video sounds good, but you're not going to get much out of it unless you have a teacher explaining step by step what to do and why you are doing it.
it is always beneficial to have a good guitar tutor to guide you along however I would disagree that you need one.. especially to take on and use the concepts in this video which are quite simple and achievable for any intermediate level guitarist self taught or otherwise.
First time I’ve actually understood the explanation of what arpeggio’s are, and how to use them. Extraordinarily excellent way to teach. Looking forward to more. Thanks for what you’re doing here!
haven't picked up a guitar in more than 16 years and I never understood arpeggios because the only resource I had at the time was someone who memorized some of them also having no idea what they meant. I still don't fully get it but I finally see the theory behind it, thanks.
hell your videos are very good, I know how to play the guitar for years, but my theory is horrible, and your videos help and teach a lot. Thank you for passing on this knowledge
One point I notice here that is very helpful for me is that the notes of arpeggio are exactly the same as the barre chord notes except for the arpeggio having ONE extra note: it's on the second heaviest string, it's a third, directly behind the fret that would be barred (for the major arp.), two frets behind (for the minor arp.).
The father of all guitar lessons....❤ Just one request, please upload a video to explain playing leads in a soothing way. Bcoz my way of playing leads is boring, it absolutely sounds like a noob. I want to learn from your video...please
thats so nicely explained .. arpeggios you explained in combination with fast scale shredding .. i mean thats already a little malmsteem in everyone of us :)
I found starting with the 7th instead of the root results in a repeatable pattern on 2 adjacent strings, easily used on all paired stringsets. Memorise 5 patterns (M,m, dom,…)is all it takes. Then practice them over progressions. Imperative you know all the notes on the fretboard.
