Can relate to BoxBox. I've never felt so called out in my life. Wohoojin said "he's a League Of Legends player, League Of Legends players look at the minimap every 3 seconds", and I was just... "Oh. I guess it's not as good of a habit to look at the minimap constantly".
Generally you could think of it as an on/off switch, you have one mode which is when there's a possibility to fight (don't look at minimap!), and another mode where there isn't a possibility of a fight occuring (look at minimap!)
Yeah, when I played csgo I did not focus on the minimap, but to rank up from bronze in LoL i had to get that skill alongside others, and I did rank up there. Now in valorant at diamond 3 this has been disastrous for me as when ascendants/immortals peek common angles they usually quickly one shot you due to them having their fundamentals.
as a fighting game player myself it all finally makes sense to me. This channel is great because woohojin doesn't just tells u what u do wrong but explains it to u
Another day, another Banana! Thanks again, Coach! I haven't been playing recently because of upcoming finals, but I've enjoyed watching all your new and old videos, and I'm excited to try everything I've learned once I return to the states. You rock!!
This is one of the best videos you’ve ever posted and changed the way I think about playing valorant entirely. I see a different game that’s about predicting enemy head positions where before I saw a game of reaction time and hand eye coordination.
I've never played LoL for a second but I have a crush on my minimap ngl. I feel like whenever I have some problem in the game you just randomly post a video about it. Thank you Coach!
i love your videos cause every second is interesting and also informative, like i dont have to skip certain parts cause theres always something for me to learn. fantastic work 🔥
I don't play Valorant, I don't think I'll ever get into the game....but man I love watching these VOD reviews. My main game is R6, while a lot of the specifics for what a player should do in Val doesn't quiet apply to it, there's a ton of value here regarding mindset and how one should be extremely aware of their own decision making. It doesn't hurt that you're just super entertaining to listen to anyways. Love the vids
yeah I used to play brawlhalla competitively for a long time and i just got this thought when I started playing val. Cuz every gunfight is basically a mini-game of who reads who better.
@@ridikelus4413 the rock paper scissors element of fighting game's neutral game (yes, a game within a game for non fgc folks), how both you and your enemy are aware of all possible options both can go for, and make plays and counter plays, is what kept me interested in fighting games. and i bring everything i learnt from fighting games to all other competitive games i play. helps me alot
@@tranvu_fgc yeah this constant vision during matches about all possibilities and counters both of you can do is what really kept me interested in fighting games.
“Stop looking at your minimap!” Bro I play like 4 different MOBAs I can’t help it!! I know I’m 3 months late, but I’m only recently starting to take Valo seriously, and holy f**k Woohoojin is such a good coach even when he isn’t talking to you directly!!
when i was first starting the game i was looking at minimap consistently by habit, every fight that hapens, check minimap, when you die from it over and over, youll learn eventually
Feel like I can make reads in melee but not like this in valorant haha. Love the references though, it's all so obvious when you explain it and definitely resonates a lot with me as a smash player!
I remembered the wide swung concept dopai explained it on stream that its better to aim at where you can flick them Than having to flick towards infinity(tracking)
I truly think a comprehensive video on the minimap could help higher-ranked players. I am Asc 3, peak Immo 2, and I frequently die cause I was looking at the minimap and just coped that it was "bad timing" (Arguably, it probably is. But things like these could've been avoided if I had known not to look, if I just had better timing, when to anticipate more, when to safely look at the minimap, etc.)
Yk I'm really starting to just into this game and I've been watching stuff like this religiously. It's super helpful! I really related to the being sneaky part. I would literally sit in the weirdest places and go insane because no one expected such strange plays. I have 800 hours in csgo so my movement is great but not knowing where any enemies could be or how all the util worked made it impossible to use any other strat. The more I learn about this game the harder it gets low key because I realize so much more I was missing or I need that I don't have. For example when I first started playing I would just push a site and depend on aim. Now I start feeling uncomfortable when I don't have util or smokes etc to help me enter the site. These videos have really helped me fast track my progress as a player. My first rank was silver two with only 15 hours. I'm gonna keep at it and hope to climb further.
I relate to getting killed while looking at my minimap, but instead of my problem being that I look at it too often. My problem is that I have the most horrible luck known to man with people peeking me at the exact second I look away from my crosshair.
BoxBox is Ascendent now? Haven’t seen content of him since he first started playing Valorant. Can’t say I’m surprised though, he’s a very smart player and I knew it would just take some time before his inevitable climb.
2:57 that's why I always tell my friends (as a silver player myself) to do things like ping and callout, or callout and quit tellin me to look at my minimap 25/8, I CAN'T ALWAYS LOOK AT THAT SHIT OR IMMA DIE lmaooooo
Can you make a valorant guide for league players? I have the bad league habit of minimapping and focusing on macro over controlling my space, and I never realised until now. I already knew I did it like that but I always thought it was the best way to do it.
Well actually happened to me too. Even worse I’m a control mage/ support player and my tendency to take a look at mini map is way too often especially in case there are no infos and gunfights. Usually I got swung while checking map with my crosshair literally on their head but yeah… For boxbox case I think he just assumed their whole team shiftwalked A as jett killed K/O.
Dunno if Mr Banana answers here, but i feel it's important to ask. I am a controller main (Plat 2) and i face similar problems as fang with my duels. I think that doing the same things you told Fang to do will be beneficial to me down the way, but it seems to me that taking 55/45 duels as controller seems like a throw. Does this training routine apply for controllers or should i avoid it entirely?
So box box looks at his map too much out of habit, does that mean when holding it would be best to always peak and unpeak an angle to give time to look at the mini map? 1:56
Watched this yesterday and actively thought about it.... a KJ peaked around the corner, I pooped my pants I was so scared but somehow killed her because of my crosshair placement lol
its funny, i put this video on to play in the background while playing Guilty Gear and you start talking fighting games. Do you have a fighting game you're into at all or look back on fondly? Smash Ultimate and Guilty Gear are my 2 fighting games.
I always look at the map as a sentinel and controller/initiator. The only time I don't look at my BIG ZOOMED MINIMAP is im about to clutch. I also play league as a support I wards and signal everytime.

actually wild that you knew exactly boxbox is looking at the map
This makes me want to submit a VOD as a WoW player, just to see if hooj has the analogies
