His lines are confident. The word that keeps being unused instead of “scratchy” and “loose” is “expressive”. The compositions don’t look that way by accident and they are enhanced by those lines
I really love the facial expressions he draws, especially for Kobeni when she was going crazy in the hotel and the burger scene, and when she or anyone else sticks out their tongue or looks shocked. The scratchiness is really what makes it so good, like the eyes especially, and the lines under the eyes when someone is shocked or scared, or any other extreme expression. I especially loved the expressions for the one shot where the it turned into a girl. I love his style!
Yes! He's got such a good eye for making his characters feel human. Denji feels like a punk-ass kid through his body language and facial expressions and Makima almost feels like a normal person through the way she has kind of awkward thinking expressions. Even in his one-shots, he's amazing at capturing candid poses through his art
I think most people when looking at manga they thoght that all panels are done by just one artist when the mangaka spend a lot of time working the story, so the background are usually done by teams of assistant. Actually some of Fujimoto's former assistant then became mangaka of their own, like Tetsuya Endo, Yuji Kaku, and Yukinobu Tatsu
Yeh thats true, especially with yukinobu who really just did his own thing the whole time he was working for fuji, idk who the current bg artist is (betting on the "listen to the song" guy ) but he is the closest to fujis style that any assistant has ever been so when analysing fuji work bg art he shouldve prolly done it more recently
Honestly i feel like most people who don't like his artwork don't draw, hes very capable, both in terms of conveying emotion, and technical ability, i feel like in csm part 2 hes really been able to stretch his legs and show people how good he can really draw when not being so time limited.
I really like how Fujimoto plays with paneling in Chainsaw Man. In one scene where several characters arms were severed, the next page spread had the panels be seperated not by lines buy by the severed limbs. He also plays with the area outside the panels, like with fingers being primed to flick something then it be included in the panel, going through it as if it comes from outside. It's very playful, and when done in intense action scenes is cool as hell.
Read almost all of his works (too bad I never got a chance for those "lost media"). His latest oneshot LOOK BACK was so phenomenal. The artwork, the references, the story. Fujimoto-sensei has been my most favourite mangaka this year(probably of all time even).
Just came off reading csm and currently going through fire punch. Your artist analysis videos are always a pleasure to watch, keep up the great work man!
Craziest part is he never learned art and manga He never was a assistant mangaka Either Authors of Spyxfamily, Dandadan, Jogokuraku was his assistants! Real genius
He did learn western art history tho … u learn also a lot by studying other artists…u can also clearly see he knows western art history bcs he references it often
Ever since the end of Chainsaw Man Part 1 Taksuki Fujimoto have just been proving over and over, with his one shots and new chainsaw man chapters, that when it comes to story telling through the medium of shonen manga, he is simply the best.
Everybody always talks about how scratchy and unrefined his art is but nobody ever talks about his amazing contour drawing which is much harder to do as well as he does
Id recommend checking out Ichikawa Haruko for her minimalistic artstyle. Its a unique style i havent seen anywhere else. Its always captivating and really shows how 'less can be more'. Land of the lustrous's cover pages are very pretty in terms of the lighting with the gems. Akiko Takase has done beautiful illustrations for Violet Evergarden too. Love the video :D
with animation it works around squish and swash to distort characters to give them movement. so if u pause it in a fight scene of course its gonna look wired
I do love Fujimoto’s artwork, the artwork seems sketchy but well executed and stylish. However I don’t know if there’s a problem of how I read the manga or something. Sometimes the fighting scene panels become quite messy and hard to understand, especially with the dark inkling that covers majority of the scenes in some not family friendly part. Still can’t disagree how much details there are compared to other manga artists.
I LOVE HIS ART STYLE!! I got into him the way I think a lot of people did, by watching Chainsaw Man. A while after finishing the anime, I went online and got all caught up on the manga. I then went and bought the physical copies of what’s out. I also read many of his Oneshots online. Finally, I plan to buy the entirety of Fire Punch sometime soon
i like the art style as well, I also found out that Fujimoto is friends with Gege Akutami (The writer and illustrator of Jujutsu Kaisen) and draw influence from each other in their works
You should analyze Eisaku Kubonouchi or Naoshi Arakawa’s art. Eisaku Kubonouchi hasn’t been in manga for awhile, but he’s been working in animation as a character designer.
As always, a great video! Absolutely love Fujimoto & his work, his art is already amazing, but in the future I think he has the potential to take a crazy leap in skill like Ishida Sui. It’ll be crazy seeing what he does in the future, definitely looking forward to it!
Honestly I love Chainsaw Man's artstyle. Another one that is great is Jujutsu Kaisen's manga style (you should do a analysis on Gege Akutami). Great video got a instant sub after I finished watching.
Fire punch is great man And the way he put humour are marvelous I also read his some works Look back Goodbye eri Because of the fact chainsaw getting anime so I am not planning to read it
The backgrounds are done by his assistance that's why if you look closely the character and background sometimes don't match up since backgrounds are done too clean and fujimoto draw character in sketchy style ( i still love his style alot tho but just wanted to point it out )
I love these videos they are so interesting how you describe popular artist and their art styles but there’s one popular artist you forgot to talk about and that is Naoko Takeuchi creator of Sailor moon. I would love to see how you describe her art style.
Hello, I am a fellow content creator. I am currently working on a Tatsuki Fujimoto documentary & I really enjoyed this video and wanted to ask you if I can have permission to use pieces/clips of this video in my documentary, I will use it like documentarians use clips from different places in there own documentary’s. I will give you proper credit in the pinned comment. And when the documentary drops I will link it to you so you can see how everything will be used! Thank you!
I agree with the main points you made, but referring to his line work as being bad, really made it hard to listen to the rest of your vid. Even if you like his messy style, I find it a rather backhanded statement.
His lines are confident. The word that keeps being unused instead of “scratchy” and “loose” is “expressive”. The compositions don’t look that way by accident and they are enhanced by those lines
i was gonna say! you have to be an artist to understand how insanely talented he is
Is Better then gege akutami?
@@hyomaaiiroofficial miles better, though both of them has gotten a bit messier with their art imo
From the panels that i've seen, i really like his artstyle. I've read his previous work "Firepunch" and really liked the artstyle there
Lol I definitely learned to love his style in Fire Punch despite my initial thoughts. 😆
the art in goodbye eri is chefs kiss it's so beautiful

Fujimoto is the best mangaka alive
The "lost" one shots were never published anywhere and only were submitted for contests
True
Man this artstyle is sooo dope😣🔥🔥🔥the scratchiness really does help it stand out❗
It really does! Definitely a staple for his style. 🤩
I like how Fujimoto makes his panels cinematic-like.

I like how some of the panels have a sort of unrefined style, it feels more personal
I love these art style crackdowns are awesome
I actually liked the scribble style for the manga panels because for me personally it let me focus more on the story and didn't feel extravagant.
Bro I am loving these art analysis videos. You're like the only dude on youtube that does these things. Keep it up!
For some reason sketchy style was always my cup of tea,the artist of the manga Dorohedoro also had a sketchy art style, but it just work too.

Chainsaw dropping in October this year. It's crazy. Mappa did both jjk, aot, csm and other projects

it shows you that being a master at linework doesn't matter, just being a Master of Art makes the artwork amazing
