I would like to say hats-off to Ted and the rest of the news crew of ABS CBN for being so brave, physically and emotionally. It's not that easy to see dead bodies scattered anywhere and being on the most dangerous place witnessing and helping needy kababayans who are crying for help. This is NOT the right time to criticize an anchor who doesn't know the real meaning of "storm surge", as others here imply. For me, Ted knows it and he is just coining another meaning of the term basing on what he experienced. I know most of us are satisfied on how PAG-ASA did their job. And I am satisfied. This is the time for helping, feeling others sadness and reaching out, and not the other way. Think and be satisfied.

Since he was there and experienced first hand with his newsteam the ferocity of Yolanda, he was very likely still in a state of shock afterwards, making him think that he couldn't help the people who approached him for help, as he said on radio last night. He could have provided the leadership those poor shocked people badly needed right there and then. Anyway, I wasn't there, so who am I to judge?

I don't fully understand how you feel but I hope and pray that with time you will heal. My suggestion for you and your family get together. Try to share your experience with one another. I also suggest you write your experience in a notebook or paper and burn it as a symbol of letting go and moving on. You have to have a healthy good cry. I hope my suggestion would be a help for you!

Grade 6 ako nung tumama ang Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda sa Tacloban. Yung akala namin na tatama sa Bicol Region yung bagyo pero salamat at di tumama sa amin pero nakakalungkot lang kasi mas marami pala naging biktima ang bagyong ito sa Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) 7 years ago hanggang ngayon di pa rin ako maka move on. Miss betty rodriguez: In fairness to PAG-ASA, I commend them for their efforts in informing the people regarding typhoon yolanda. They even warned the people that the water may reach 10 ft.
i agree with Miss Betty Rodriguez. was watching tv all day. abs-cbn to anc to bbc to cnn..every time pag-asa being asked for update...over & over again its only storm signal # i cud hear..even local news is the same thing. "STORM SURGE" wasn't explained properly in complete details. while i was listening to cnn explained what is a storm surge, in every update cnn weather man wud explained what is a storm surge & how the sea water wud rise again & again.. my heart was beating so fast, so thankful that my city is only signal#1. but so sad for central visayas. even on fb Dost_pagasa page..there's non there that educate the public what is a storm surge.
All people affected by this need the worlds help. Reach out to everyone around you and aske them to help in whatever they you can. Clothes, blankets, shoes, money, anything at all. God bless all affected by this tragedy.
because the term "STORM SURGE" was not being understood by these people. If only they defined it clearly what is a storm surge, it's effects & destruction it will cause maybe this has been avoided. PAGASA needs to update their knowledge and as well alert the people according to the awareness they need to know to avoid this in the future. Same problem in the US, basically a Storm Surge is a Wall of water, like a Wave, which is why we lost so many in Katrina, people did not understand what it is.

undeniably heartbreaking.... i cant help but be mad at the same time remembering how Janet Napoles denied all of the allegations to her before this devastating typhoon happened and proudly answered "yes" when Sen. Grace Poe questioned if she still pity the poor; I just wanna see JLN now .. grab her & make her eat sh*t.. I, myself, experienced the wrath of Yolanda few days ago in Mindoro, our business was also affected but i dont wanna rant about that because we're still lucky that we're alive & not directly hit by the typhoon. My heart goes to the families who lost their homes and loved ones. Be strong guys ! be strong.

"STORM SURGE" wasn't explained properly in complete details. while i was listening to cnn explained what is a storm surge, in every update cnn weather man wud explained what is a storm surge & how the sea water wud rise again & again.. my heart was beating so fast, so thankful that my city is only signal#1. but so sad for central visayas. even on fb Dost_pagasa page..there's non there that educate the public what is a storm surge.

because the term "STORM SURGE" was not being understood by these people. If only they defined it clearly what is a storm surge, it's effects & destruction it will cause maybe this has been avoided. PAGASA needs to update their knowledge and as well alert the people according to the awareness they need to know to avoid this in the future. This reporter did not even know what is a storm surge until he got hit.
lol, Ted only stated the effects of the "Storm Surge' and not how it is derived but still he's right. Btw, you're right that most of the people doesn't know what storm surge is..! That's why as they say,that they did'nt expect the soaring tides of water nearly in seashore will engulf most of their homes/structures. Less Updates of PAGASA...!

Same problem in the US, basically a Storm Surge is a Wall of water, like a Wave, which is why we lost so many in Katrina, people did not understand what it is.
Maybe the PAGASA team did not understand the word as well. The reason why they could not elaborate on it.

Sana po the whole LEYTE, the whole SAMAR, and the other parts of Philippines which have been affected by the Typhoon Yolanda, ay magkaroon na ng panibagong pag-asa at panibagong buhay nang sa gayon ay maipagdiwang nila ang Pasko na maghahatid sa kanila ng saya at ngiti, kahit na nawalan man sila ng kamag-anak noong kasagsagan ng bagyo.. Sana patuloy lang po ang pagtulong ng ibang bansa at ng ating bansa mismo sa mga naapektuhan po ng bagyo, lalung-lalo na ang lalawigan ng Leyte.. Hanggang ngayon iniisip ko parin to kung gaano kami kaswerte dito sa Batangas nung time n yan dahil halos malakas na hangin na may konting ulan lang ang naramdaman namin dito. Bumili pa nga kami sa 7/11 nun kasi hindi umuulan habang nandun pala kami naghihirap ang mga tao sa Tacloban... haaay

undeniably heartbreaking.... i cant help but be mad at the same time remembering how Janet Napoles denied all of the allegations to her before this devastating typhoon happened and proudly answered "yes" when Sen. Grace Poe questioned if she still pity the poor; I just wanna see JLN now .. grab her & make her eat sh*t.. I, myself, experienced the wrath of Yolanda few days ago in Mindoro, our business was also affected but i dont wanna rant about that because we're still lucky that we're alive & not directly hit by the typhoon. My heart goes to the families who lost their homes and loved ones. Be strong guys ! be strong.

nuod lg ako ng news para rin akong mgbbreakdown kht wala akong family jan ansakit kci kawawa at sayang ang buhay ng taong mahihirap at nahirapan sa ganuong sitwasyon..i just cant imagine losing one of my family all i can do is pray that god will save thier soul na sa oras na ba yun anu ang mga huling salita na nasabi nila..sana nman wala ng sisihan tulungan nlg.. cnu ba ang my gusto nito?
