In summary, Boeing is the clear winner of the Dubai Air Show. The “poor” sales of 777x has been wildly exaggerated. It is now well over 400. Impressive for such a large airplane that isn’t yet in service. There have also been no customers that have pulled out of program Just some changes to order numbers.
Historicly the 777 like the 747 before is barely used in the US for domestic routes. the 777F's from Fed Ex might be the exeption. f.e. Delta (skyteam) uses it for its European routes from JFK United for its Asian routes from the west coast. The 777 like the 747 before is the workhorse for flying over the Atlantic and Pacific. On this side of the pond a 777 is seen and used as much as bread and butter. US, European, Asian, African and middle east carriers use f.e. Schiphol alot.
I feel like one big factor on why Emirates ordered the 777x over the A35k is that a 777x has been in the middle east for testing over the last few months
Emirates need the highest capacity aircraft to replace A380, only 777X is 'able' to provide that kind of capacity. Emirates still ordering A350-900, so it is not really a big L for Airbus.
I was surprised that Egypt Air ordered 28 planes (10 A350s and 18 B737 Max through a lessor) and retiring their 777s, the fleet renewal could also give way to a general renewal of the cabin concept and what Egypt Air‘s soft and hard product are
The diversification of aircraft for Emirates at least tells us one thing. The A380 is going away at some undetermined point in time. So they are looking for similar alternatives. Capacity may decrease just a bit, but the revenue will be made up in fuel savings. Embraer may have answered the question of why Emirates would do this. With a 70% load factor in the Middle Eastern region, Emirates has to think long term and 300 plus capacity aircraft just doesn't fit the bill.
We already knew the 380 is going away at EK. Just a question of when not if since the plane is no longer made. The process is actually already started. They have already officially retired two of them and still have at least 25 of them grounded.
Hi Coby, as an Airbus Engineer, let me clarify that even though A359 and A35K are 2 different variations, from operational point of view there is no difference.. The crew will not need any additional training.. If I can stretch it, even the A380 crew can pilot the A35x and vice a versa with little to few changes in operational requirements. This is the beauty and goal of Airbus Common Cockpit which is visible also on SA-LR fleets. I guess the same can be stated for Boeing 787-8/-9 and 777s. So I believe the EKs fleet strategy is not exactly a loser.
Such things as a fleet commonality for pilot training for large international airlines are often overstated in importance for such carriers that are very used to and capable over operating a diverse fleets. Almost all of them have a mix of Airbus and Boeing aircraft and have the scale and expertise to support both. LH, BA, KLM, SQ, CX. EK, QR, EY, AF/KL, QF, etc all come to mind. The training cost is easy to offset in the deal for large orders.
Good coverage; having said that; I do believe that there is a lot of room for improvement. I suggest that you view some of other experienced and well known aviation You Tubers who covered the same show with vast difference in the quantity and quality of coverage. I wish you all the best and I am confident that you will excel a lot in this channel in the near future.
Without A380, Emirates is just another premium airline. Neither B777X, A350, and definitely not B787 will give it the plate form to garner the luxury airline it wants to accomplish.
The defining factor about the A380, apart from the value it has to avgeeks, is its passenger comfort. Both the A350 and 777x are able to outmatch it due to their larger windows, better pressurization while giving the same 18" seat width. It remains to be seen however what seat pitch Emirates will field, which will set the legroom. Let's see if they are able to fit their luxurious first class suites as well.
They could still offer a very luxurious experience, and those two planes have bigger windows, and higher cabin pressurization which is nice. They just won’t be able to fly as many passengers but a 777X-10 would get close-r. Plus they have a while before the 380 has to be retired imo. With no replacement, I think they will be more willing to hold on to them and refurbish interiors and do major overhauls
@@oadka Based on my personal flight experience on these planes (aside from B777X), A380 offers unparalleled quietness, space, passenger comfort, and most importantly possibilities for airlines to tailor and surprise you.
Air New Zealand Boeing 787 - 9 launch customer with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines - PAN-PAN after some take offs - single engine landing, now Air NZ has to deal with A320 Neo & 321 Neo with P&W engines being inspected every year for compressor and high pressure turbine defects. @@ludwigtails Not really. It's just become clear airlines other than small ones just are not going for it an opting instead for the 787 or 350. The 787 in particular has taken it's market segment. Hasn't had a major order in years now. The market has spoken very clearly.
Is it just me or does the Boom look a lot like the 1950’s Convair B58 Supersonic Nuke Bomber. Maybe GE has some J79’s in the back of the warehouse they could sell to Boom.
Emirates is one of the most, if not the most, calculated, agile and successful airlines in the world. I disagree with your point on them ordering aircrafts first then figuring out what to do with them. They dont just leave it for the luck. Knowing Emirates, I think they are playing a new, startegic or innovative hand that no one is familiar with. Especially, there are wanna be players in the neighborhood copying whatever Emirates does and go after their partners and operaters. So I think it is a new disguised startegy from Emirates to create their business model 2.0.
Successful yes; calculated, probably not. Their biggest weakness was the lack of anything smaller than the 777, so it's harder for them to penetrate markets that don't need as much space. This is why Etihad and Qatar have a leg up on them in spite of having far less A380s. And the pandemic put that weakness on full display when Emirates was forced to ground effectively it's entire A380 fleet.
hey coby, you know westjet, scoot, jetstar,... they all are low cost airlines with widebodies. if they can survive the market? why can't american, delta, lufthansa,... also be low cost airlines??? can u search it out for meee? thank you
I don't understand why it's so hard for Boom to find a suitable jet engine. There's any of a number of military jet engines that could provide enough power and fuel efficiency for their civilian supersonic jet. The GE XA100 Adaptive Cycle Engine which just got axed for the F-35 upgrade, would be an ideal candidate.
Honestly I think Ethiopian’s order of 737 MAX has something to do with Ethiopia-US relation. The 737 MAX is absolutely better now, but whenever I step on that aircraft, I still worry a little. You know, it has just been 4 years after all
I'm never really concerned about a specific aircraft type. I get concerned about any 3rd world carrier. Their safety, training and maintenance standards are just not the same. Cleary Boeing really screwed up the MAX, but we never saw these issues other than that type of carrier. It was factor in all of it and the crashes exposed that and Boeing's mistakes. LOT of blame to go around there.
I wish Boom the very with their continued funding to seek out engine development for the aircraft! Enjoy the video also. Great work. Take care bro. Lee Crolley, lll Lexington,S.C.29073
As for supersonic success, while the additional investment may see it reach the market, I wonder just how many units will be required to recover the development costs? As for its engines, if they are starting from scratch and doing it all 'in-house', just what percentage of the current budget will be swallowed up, and how long will the design, development, and testing be? I even wonder if further significant investment will still be required? Will we see them going 'bust' closer to launch? Could a new company then buy the assets to take the aircraft to market unburdened with the development costs?
It's mostly smoke and mirrors with BOOM. This will take many billions to successfully develop both the frame and engines. $750 million is but a drop in the bucket of what it would take for a tiny market for the plane and the time frame that would be required. They are a fundraising company, not one that will actually ever produce a plane.
Great Coby and great content as always interesting that somehow it feels like Emirates does not realy crave for thise 787... A point from a brazilian and ex staff of the airline, I woul not at all consider Azul as a lowcost. They name themselves so though having the highest fare and being I would say the only brazilian airline serving snacks selection and drinks on domestic flights not charging for nothing and the only airline in Brazil with personal ife on the whole fleet (only not in ATRs)
With these massive orders, what is brewing is a crisis, like a bubble, why are airlines getting so far ahead of themselves in such massive purchases? Will Airbus and Boeing be able to supply all those orders and at what cost? Will there be cancellations and legal litigation in the future? Only time will tell

On this side of the pond a 777 is seen and used as much as bread and butter.
US, European, Asian, African and middle east carriers use f.e. Schiphol alot.
Awsome show! Wish i was there!
I feel like one big factor on why Emirates ordered the 777x over the A35k is that a 777x has been in the middle east for testing over the last few months
That actually means the decision had already been made.
Emirates need the highest capacity aircraft to replace A380, only 777X is 'able' to provide that kind of capacity. Emirates still ordering A350-900, so it is not really a big L for Airbus.
Fine coverage of the Dubai show! Well done, Mr. Explanes.
I don’t understand why people are against the Embraer E2. A fantastic jet, economical and super comfortable to fly in too
@@fht880 ??
Great video & analysis, thanks Coby 🙏🏻
Happy for Boing and 777x
Competition makes things interesting.
You have to give credit to Boom's ability to fundraise with just a few animation clips. They cost way less than the actual engineering
Trust me, it will all come crashing down. Such things always do.
love this types of videos after an airshow!
I was surprised that Egypt Air ordered 28 planes (10 A350s and 18 B737 Max through a lessor) and retiring their 777s, the fleet renewal could also give way to a general renewal of the cabin concept and what Egypt Air‘s soft and hard product are
Great recap Coby!
Awesome content! 😊😊
Good report and analysis. Thanks!
With the 777X Boeing are on a Winner But It Is Essential That They Get It Right This Time or Forget it.
Good Video.
Congratulations Boeing!
Thanks!
Nice update as always.
They will have to find another strategy and know that
They could still offer a very luxurious experience, and those two planes have bigger windows, and higher cabin pressurization which is nice. They just won’t be able to fly as many passengers but a 777X-10 would get close-r. Plus they have a while before the 380 has to be retired imo. With no replacement, I think they will be more willing to hold on to them and refurbish interiors and do major overhauls
@@oadka Based on my personal flight experience on these planes (aside from B777X), A380 offers unparalleled quietness, space, passenger comfort, and most importantly possibilities for airlines to tailor and surprise you.
not efficient enough....
We should have had General Electric - Safran - CFM engines
Can I just point out the size of that A380 engine that seems to be bigger than the fuselage of that Embraer just in front of it?
777-9 engine is the same as 737 fuselage :p
Great video
Here's a rule of thumb: if an investment opportunity is relying almost entirely on advertising through RUclips videos... it's probably not a good investment.
Will you go back to streaming?
Everyone's a winner baby

Hi Coby, your channel is fantastic, I have watched you from early days.
I really believe that the E2 is a seriously good plane and equals if not exceeds the A220. They need to up their marketing strategy of this really outstanding aircraft.

AZUL IS NOT LOW COST
Wow geez… the A330neo got no orders to the point it’s not even worth to be mentioned as a loser. Wow
It wasn’t expected to. It’s in the draft they coming niche aircraft for smaller carriers At best
@@johniii8147 how so?? There were 0 orders for the A330neo wasn’t it?
@@ludwigtails my point was it was not expected to get any orders.
@@johniii8147 oh. Still, suck that it got zero orders.
@@ludwigtails Not really. It's just become clear airlines other than small ones just are not going for it an opting instead for the 787 or 350. The 787 in particular has taken it's market segment. Hasn't had a major order in years now. The market has spoken very clearly.
Luv the air show content. Keep it coming!!!
I hope that Boeing bring out a 777X-10 aircraft.
That will be quire some time if ever happens. It will be status quo for Both Airbus and Boeing until the 2030s
I still really want to fly on an A220/C series.
Not sure why the 777x has folding wings. The a380 has much bigger wings and they don’t fold. Just another point of failure on the plane.
Boeing wants to allow the jet to enter the same gates and taxiways as the legacy 777
45 million? That wouldn't get me an aircaraft!
Is it just me or does the Boom look a lot like the 1950’s Convair B58 Supersonic Nuke Bomber. Maybe GE has some J79’s in the back of the warehouse they could sell to Boom.
Wowza Coby your very handsome 👍 well done Mr 😊
One winner is miissing: A220 order. Still an important one for short routes and market expansion.
It was a relatively small deal.
Great vids 🙏🙏🙏🙏
What is the competition for for the Dubai air show
Already 5 minutes in I'm really surprised?
hey coby, you know westjet, scoot, jetstar,... they all are low cost airlines with widebodies. if they can survive the market? why can't american, delta, lufthansa,... also be low cost airlines??? can u search it out for meee? thank you
What do you think of Egyptair deal?
I don't understand why it's so hard for Boom to find a suitable jet engine. There's any of a number of military jet engines that could provide enough power and fuel efficiency for their civilian supersonic jet. The GE XA100 Adaptive Cycle Engine which just got axed for the F-35 upgrade, would be an ideal candidate.
It's don't work like that armed forces don't have to follow noise and e p a rules.
Of course you would find the 777-X "inferior" since you are on the Airbus payroll.
Ethiopian actually made the biggest order!
How do you get 90 out of 65 + 35?
Nice video
Is it just me or does the audio seem a bit unsynchronized especially in the opening section?
how many deals sukhuilo got?
Do the Chinese and Russian planes even try to sale anything there??
Rarely.
I wish Boom the very with their continued funding to seek out engine development for the aircraft! Enjoy the video also. Great work. Take care bro. Lee Crolley, lll Lexington,S.C.29073
A330 Neo its also a big loser no Delta order so far.
Who feels like a loser now Mr Boeing fanboy?
Boeing got more orders
Nice work Coby I didn’t even know I liked this stuff till I found your channel

Before Dubai Airshow 1400 orders for Airbus in 2023 ....With or without Dubai the winner is Airbus with the 350 and 320/21 NEO ...
Why would Emirates be interested in the 787-8?
Great Coby and great content as always
interesting that somehow it feels like Emirates does not realy crave for thise 787...
An order bubble is nothing new. It’s happened before. Undoubtedly some will defer delivery dates and even cancel. That’s a given.
Hey Coby Azul linhas aéreas is not a low cost!🤦🏻♂️ Is one of the best airline in South America
Good vid, but disliked because of masterworks. I wish RUclipsrs stopped advertising for them
Agree, although not as bad as investing in NFTs, the business is set up with high operating/management fees and the investors taking all the risk.
Sounds like Airbus had a really bad experience during this show. Huge win for Boeing
-> Boeing has spanked Airbus again for the widebody market.
