I remember as a little kid just turning the SNES on with this game in and just listening to it as I went to bed. The nostalgia of the title music just rushes through me, making me want to shed a tear every time I hear it. Great game with, in my opinion, the best music in the series.
I was in the Tokyo sky tree tower at night and thinking "WOW THIS IS WHAT THE SIMCITY TITLE SCREEN IS BASED OFF OF!" So many skyscrapers and the red lights flashing on the buildings! So nostalgic!
I work just outside a great view of the New York City skyline. When the sun goes down I look at that beautiful skyline and I can’t help but to think of this opening song. I was in grade school when this came out and it was the only game I wanted (and got) while all the other kids wanted final fight and street fighter 2. Thank you for an awesome song and memory Maxis (and OP).
This music is beautiful and captures that amazing feeling I had when I was 5 and played this game for the first time. One of my favorite games and title screens.
Same here. Brings back memories of staying up to 2 am with my brother trying to earn more money to build up the city. Can't believe it's 21 years old!!!! I still can't hear this music without getting a lump in my throat!
Back in the ‘90s, sometimes just turn the game on and let it play on the title screen like this for a while, because there was no sound test. Later on, I would gain an appreciation for city scapes, especially at night! This appreciation and my fascination increased majorly once I found out about Adult Swim Bumps!
Feel old watching this if you played it back when it was a brand new game? Want to feel even older? 1991 was 25 years ago. A quarter of a century has passed since this game's release.
man... it was 1992 when i first played this game, was 6years old then and playing it on my cousings snes.... this bring back memories of me and my cousin trying to figure out how to play this game back then haha.
this song,,, hmm.... is so nostalgic for me... maybe because i spent half of my childhood playing games like this one.. and sim city makes me remenber the time that i just didn't think in things that i have to do, problems with work.. stress... ohh... a time that will never come back again...
Even though it lacks a lot of the features of more current SC games, this is the one that makes me feel most nostalgic ^^ especially the music and Wright's notifications :D
I remember getting this game for Christmas in 1991 too from my Uncle and Aunt! This game cost $50 at the time and was worth every fucking cent! Memories I will tell my Grandchildren about around the Christmas dinner table, when they get their shiny new PS6 for Christmas...
jogo que mais marcou minha infância! adorava ligar meu snes e jogar esse fantastico jogo, lembro que competia com meus vizinhos quem tinha a melhor cidade! bons tempos que a unica preocupação era se divertir! ahh saudade...
Hearing this nearly brings a tear to my eye! The music makes me feel bad about destroying my cities. I should have been a better mayor and made my city has happy and peaceful as the city in the opening screen.
Sim city ended at Sim City 3000 Unlimited IMO :/ I'll miss the good ol' days. I never really cared for Sim City 4 or Societies. It got a tad too complicated.

Same, this music is a core memory
This is pure magic.
Can You make lyrics for this song?
I get a lump in my throat listening to this! So many memories......
This song is my happy place... I wanna live in one of those skyscrapers 😔
I was in the Tokyo sky tree tower at night and thinking "WOW THIS IS WHAT THE SIMCITY TITLE SCREEN IS BASED OFF OF!" So many skyscrapers and the red lights flashing on the buildings! So nostalgic!
One day!
Yea buddy, I thought the same as a kid when the chips were down. Used to watch this before going to sleep
I'm Japanese. This opening is the same as Japan in the bubble era at that time. It is both nostalgic and lonely. Please come to Japan once !!!
@@kbnqdnqtmajqmxtpg Japan is actually one of the few places I really want to visit someday. (I'm from Germany)
I remember being a kid, sitting in front of my CRT letting this loop over, wondering what all the people are doing in those Skyscrapers.... wow
me too man, how the years go by

The simplicity of this game/intro is what makes it so awesome
This song gives me hope for a brighter tomorrow, some vintage 90s optimism 🥲
RIGHT IN THE FEELS!
This music is beautiful and captures that amazing feeling I had when I was 5 and played this game for the first time. One of my favorite games and title screens.
I miss my childhood...
I’m in Tokyo right now and this is the theme song for it
When I heard this as a kid i KNEW I had something truly special! The entire soundtrack is criminally underrated!
Same here. Brings back memories of staying up to 2 am with my brother trying to earn more money to build up the city. Can't believe it's 21 years old!!!! I still can't hear this music without getting a lump in my throat!
It's 30 years old now. :')
The best Sim City.
3000?
I use to sometimes just leave it on the start screen and listen to the music.
Back in the ‘90s, sometimes just turn the game on and let it play on the title screen like this for a while, because there was no sound test. Later on, I would gain an appreciation for city scapes, especially at night!

Ahhhh good memories.
Back then i was playing that game.
Feel old watching this if you played it back when it was a brand new game?
Want to feel even older?
1991 was 25 years ago. A quarter of a century has passed since this game's release.
man I'm 15 so I have no nostalgia from this.
1989 if you wanna get technical so 28 years, you're welcome, now go feel older...as will I.
are you alive?
It Will be half Century in 2031
Now it's 27 years ago
I used to just listen to this as a kid because of how mesmerizing it was. I was maybe 5 when I played this. that was 21 years ago for me.
Damn that warm nostalgia can hit you hard sometimes...
I still get that feeling watching this as i did when i was 10... incredible game
Sounds lovely
I shed a tear listening to this tune... A tear that i will dedicate to my childhood...
I just found this on accident now my eyes are kind tearing.
Sim City for the SNES had some good themes.
The song is beautiful
Just might be the most beautiful intro for any game
this is what got me started on playing games . love simcity
If you go cross eyed properly, the buildings are 3D! It's cool!
Man I am 14 but we had this on our Wii back in 2006 then we got wiiu and now Nintendo switch

Still makes my heart flutter.
I remember I would sit and let this play for a little bit before I started actually playing.
i could listen to this for hours...
Excellent soundtrack & game.
One of the best titles for the Super NES.
Thanks you for posting gaimr.
Back to the old days ;-)
A classic SNES game.
this song almost made me cry :(
This gives me nostalgia for a time I wasn't even alive for.
Playing Sim City 4 with this music=epic!
Very fond memories live here

Being a 6 year old and having this game every summer at your mothers house, nope. Nothing was more magical than this.
Ah the early 90s.....TAKE ME BACK!!
Goosebumps!
RIP Maxis :(
Even though it lacks a lot of the features of more current SC games, this is the one that makes me feel most nostalgic ^^ especially the music and Wright's notifications :D
The song that I revisit from time to time and get reinspired by
damn i got tears in my eyes...
I’m remember buy a good price in toyrus good memories 😢
I can't believe its been about 20 years since this game has come out. This is one of the first SNES games I owned. Man, I feel old now.

M83 sampled this song in 'Farewell/Goodbye' : )
that was my childhood! woho.. played it for hours with my best friend ! :')
I miss this carefree part of my life
Oh, the memories! 😃
Did anyone else just sat there and let this play?
I can never forget opening up the SNES, starting this and it ends up being way too loud.
Ahhhh nostalgia rush! :)
I never played that game on snes and wasn't even 10 years old in 2000 but I feel nostalgic of 90s, I don't know why ^^
BEST SONG EVER MADE!!!
Awww I miss this game
That were the times, great game - even today.
Genius
no voy a llorar T-T
estoy llorando D,:
I get Va-11 Hall-A vibes from this
You don't say? haha
This song haunts my memories. sigh...
love this game, still play it for some reason XD
Great god.
Best Version of Simcity by far.
I'm convinced late 80s early 90s was the best time
I remember getting this game for Christmas in 1991 too from my Uncle and Aunt! This game cost $50 at the time and was worth every fucking cent! Memories I will tell my Grandchildren about around the Christmas dinner table, when they get their shiny new PS6 for Christmas...
My god, what you say is so true ;) I totally can relate to you.
we live in a world where simcity can be played on gameboy color, let that sink in
Ahh... Nostalgia.
jogo que mais marcou minha infância!
adorava ligar meu snes e jogar esse fantastico jogo, lembro que competia com meus vizinhos quem tinha a melhor cidade! bons tempos que a unica preocupação era se divertir! ahh saudade...
the only Sim I will probably ever play.
I still have this :D
This needs to come to 3DS as a 3D Virtual Console title imo! (If sega can do it, surely Nintendo can too!)
But Sega does what Nintendon't
Hearing this nearly brings a tear to my eye! The music makes me feel bad about destroying my cities. I should have been a better mayor and made my city has happy and peaceful as the city in the opening screen.
I can let this game go because it was and still is very fun and never gets old :P
@Thekinggamelon
the maxis part is from the first simcity. i think they got permission from maxis to make a snes version.
@Craidren well put.
I might find a few Super Nintendo games online such as Pilotwings, Sim City and Super Soccer.
Nintendo, I want you to put this game on the Nintendo Switch Online service!
Very old game , nice days...
ahh memories
I didn't live that time but I love this song
Sim city ended at Sim City 3000 Unlimited IMO :/ I'll miss the good ol' days. I never really cared for Sim City 4 or Societies. It got a tad too complicated.
Maxis, I miss you so much buddy
Has there ever been a more magical time in gaming?
The start of a beautiful lagacy
i had a dream i played this game once. i like the new simcities. but still it'd be cool to play this.
I use to put this game in and just let the start menu loop over and over.
This music goes good with that Claude Debussy Google doodle...
I played the SNES version on the Vizzed Retro Game Room Plugin, then sit at the start screen for 1 minute listening to the song.
@Craidren Love your comment. :)
Is it me? Or does this song sound just like Super Mario Bros 3's ending Credits?
I wish I existed in the early the late 80's/early 90's.
Hours of enjoyment until the battery backup was no more.
