@@reptar3100, I figured it out but you’ll need to know your Microsoft account email just in case you haven’t. Either go on your computer, phone, or iPad (which I used) and look up Microsoft redeem and it should show up. It don’t need to be in the Xbox app as long as you’re in your Microsoft account using the Xbox. I redeemed it there and it finally worked. Hopefully they’ll resolve the Xbox glitch but if it don’t work next time, just log into Microsoft and redeem the code.
Is this the password to your account? I think I might've had that happen once where I couldn't log in. Eventually it let me. It might be a problem with an Xbox server. Sometimes issues pop up when the console can't connect to it's online servers. Hope you got it to work!

If you try to redeem the code, you will only ever get a "This code is invalid" error. The funds on the gift card(s) CAN still be used on the Xbox 360 however, assuming you redeem the gift card(s) on a computer or an Xbox One system. To do this using a PC, log into your Microsoft or Bing account associated with your Xbox 360 system, then follow this link: www.microsoft.com/redeem Once there, all you have to do is type in the 25-character code on the gift card and the funds will be added directly to your Microsoft account for use on the Xbox 360. Ok, I tried to buy in game currency at 31.99 with two 25 cards, so I redeemed the first bit when I tried to redeem the second it didn’t work. I just went to walmart and bought a 50$ card and the strangest thing happened (I have bought hundreds of these cards before) after I scratched it I noticed the final column had only 3 digits, I knew this was odd right away as its usually 5 sets of 5 digits, so I though ok this is probably bad but maybe they changed it for some reason, so I went to enter the code and of course it said, "enter the full 25 digits" so I went online and googled it and I guess it is a thing some sort of misprint, I have no clue how i'm gonna get refunded but hopefully I dont get screwed here, this SUCKS!
With numbers missing that is definitely a printing mistake! If you have your receipt see if the store can get you a new card. If not you’ll have to contact Microsoft and explain your situation. I'm not happy. I purchased a $25 xbox gift card to buy add ons for Oblivion. I redeemed the gift card and entered the 25 digit code and it said successful, your microsoft account balance is $25 USD. I try to purchase the dlc which is only $2 and it says Microsoft Account Balances cannot be used in this purchase and prompts me to pay with a credit card instead. I guess my question is, what the hell is the purpose of a digital gift card if you can't buy any digital content with it? This actually seems like a scam
That's weird? You definitely have enough money to buy the DLC. That error message doesn't seem to be correct because that's exactly what Xbox Gift Card money is for. Have you tried it again?

Is it possible that your gift card came from another country or region? Maybe you were able to redeem it but if the funds are in another currency you won't be able to use it where you live now? You definitely have enough to cover the tax so that's not an issue. One thing you can try is to log into your account at Xbox.com and make your purchase there to see if it works.

My error is different. I have 4 different gift cards and I can enter them all. It even recognizes how much each gift card is worth... but as soon as I click the final button I am met with a “Try that again” screen with an error code. This has happened for several days
I assume you’re redeeming your gift cards on your Xbox console? Try to redeem them at redeem.Microsoft.com on your computer. You’ll have to login with your Xbox email/password first. @MrPizza i found a solution, download the xbox app on your computer, once you have done that, login to your account. once you have done that, click on your profile and click settings. then scroll down and you will see a green button that says "redeem code" put in your code and accept it. it should work

You'd have to go back to Walmart but without a receipt it would be hard to prove that you purchased the Xbox Gift Card there. Unless Walmart's registers can keep track of your purchases by looking up your credit card transactions there. Does Walmart have a club card? If so and you used it during your purchase they'd probably have a record of everything you've bought there.

Yes! If it’s asking for an address you’ll need to enter that before your can use your gift card. But you’ll only be able to use Xbox Gift Cards that were issued in your region/country. Usually that’s not a problem when buying from a reputable seller or directly from Microsoft.

I think Morrisons will have to do the activating. Are you able to go back to the store and have them check it? As long as you have your receipt and they're willing to check it. I think if you contact Microsoft they will also tell you to go back to the retailer where you bought your gift card.
Do you know where you bought your Gold card? Is it from a reputable seller? I recently found out that Gold cards were recently region locked just like Xbox Gift Cards. So if it came from another country you won't be able to use it. Can you check on your subscriptions tab on your Xbox to see if there's an expiration date for the Gold you just redeemed? Just for future reference, the best way to buy a Gold card is from a local store.

Yes! Unfortunately you will have to go back to the store with proof of purchase/receipt to have them activate the card. Usually it’s done at the cash register. However it’s going to be impossible to have it activated if you done have a receipt or know where it was purchased from. That info will have to be tracked down.

Have you checked to see if you have enough gift card money to cover the added tax? Also if you are buying a subscription service like Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass you won't be able to use the gift card money for those subscriptions unless you have a credit card associated with your account. It'll still ask how do you want to pay the rest if you don't have the credit card in your account.

Can you log into your account at Xbox.com and check your balance there? I'm not entirely sure what's going on with your gift card. One thing I suspect is maybe your gift card is from another country/region? Xbox Gift Cards are region locked so they will only work in the country they were issued in. Adding Xbox Gift Cards to your Xbox shouldn't affect your PayPal account. When you have Xbox Gift Card money on your account it will use the gift card money first whenever you buy something. If for some reason you don't have enough gift card money, the Xbox will use your PayPal account to pay the rest of the purchase price. Hope this helps!

Try this. Log into your account at Xbox.com and see if your money shows up there. You can also buy games on the Xbox website. See if that works. When you buy the game online you'll have to find it in the Ready to Download section on your Xbox and manually start the download/installation.

Sorry you were having some issues buying V Bucks. If you used a $25 gift card to buy the $24.99 V Bucks item you definitely don't have enough to complete the purchase because of tax.

Okay, it mught be because the stire didn't activate the card because the cashiers don't run the registers anymore but usually when I get a card it activates it. I haven't had xbox live in over 2 years as well. When I go to redeem a card it asks me about payment which it shouldn't even do because it's a xbox live card.
Try checking ur internet connection or try reedeming it on the xbox website, or sometimes it says that if u didnt put a real address and zip code so make sure thats good, if thst doesn't work then theres probably something wrong with ur Microsoft account so check the activity of it, but if u already got the issue fixed, try those tips i said if it happens again

Did you fill out your profile address? See if it works after you fill out that info. Hopefully your gift card is from the same region/country that you live in. Are you trying to buy something on the Xbox in the same country that your Xbox Gift Card money is from? Gift card money is region locked so where you are trying to make the purchase will matter.
Missing letters on an Xbox gift card is frustrating! But in the comments of this video it appears that other viewers have been able to recover their Xbox gift card code by contacting Xbox support. So it seems that even though you don’t have the whole code there is possibly a way you can get the full 25 digits and redeem the card.

Is your code a 25 digit code? If not then it’s probably a third party code that needs to be redeemed on the website of the company that issued it. Official Microsoft codes are always 25 digits. The instructions you got about redeeming on a webpage is correct if it’s not a Microsoft code. Once you redeem this third party code they should issue you an official Microsoft code. Hope this helps!

There may have been a server issue on Microsoft's side the other day. I heard one of my friends say something was wrong with Xbox online services the other day. However, you say that your gift card has already been redeemed when you when back to your Xbox? What happened was that maybe the gift card money got redeemed to your account but the purchase of the V Bucks never really happened because of the server issue. Check your gift card balance on the Xbox to see if your $15 is there. If so just go back to Fortnite and buy your V Bucks. Hope this helps!

But if you bought it online from discount websites, eBay or similar website it's possible that the gift card isn't necessarily from your country because they may get their gift card codes from various sources. If you buy from the Microsoft store you definitely wouldn't have a problem. Amazon for your country should be ok but you still have to pay attention to who is selling it. If it is an official code from Microsoft you will be ok but random sellers could have a problem. I've heard about error messages that say to enter a billing address or zip code. Those errors for sure mean the gift card code is from another region. Hopefully you get this sorted out!

Where did you buy your gift card? If it was online you should have a copy in your email. If the code was only on the receipt then it's pretty much gone! You could go back to the place you bought the code and see if they have a record of it. Otherwise there's not much you can do at this point!

Yeah if you bought an Xbox Live Gold card from the store your subscription is fully paid for and all you have to do is redeem the code. The only thing I can think of at this point is whether or not you have an unpaid balance with Microsoft? That will keep you from doing a lot of things on your Xbox. But you talked to tech support and they couldn't tell you why? One last thing you can try is to log into your account at Xbox.com and redeem the code there to see if it works.

I just went to walmart and bought a 50$ card and the strangest thing happened (I have bought hundreds of these cards before) after I scratched it I noticed the final column had only 3 digits, I knew this was odd right away as its usually 5 sets of 5 digits, so I though ok this is probably bad but maybe they changed it for some reason, so I went to enter the code and of course it said, "enter the full 25 digits" so I went online and googled it and I guess it is a thing some sort of misprint, I have no clue how i'm gonna get refunded but hopefully I dont get screwed here, this SUCKS!
With numbers missing that is definitely a printing mistake! If you have your receipt see if the store can get you a new card. If not you’ll have to contact Microsoft and explain your situation. Sorry, there aren’t any other choices with missing characters like that. Hope you get it resolved soon so you don’t lose your money!

I try to purchase the dlc which is only $2 and it says Microsoft Account Balances cannot be used in this purchase and prompts me to pay with a credit card instead. Is it possible that your gift card came from another country or region? Maybe you were able to redeem it but if the funds are in another currency you won't be able to use it where you live now? You definitely have enough to cover the tax so that's not an issue. One thing you can try is to log into your account at Xbox.com and make your purchase there to see if it works.

My error is different. I have 4 different gift cards and I can enter them all. It even recognizes how much each gift card is worth... but as soon as I click the final button I am met with a “Try that again” screen with an error code. This has happened for several days
I assume you’re redeeming your gift cards on your Xbox console? Try to redeem them at redeem.Microsoft.com on your computer. You’ll have to login with your Xbox email/password first. Then you’ll be able to enter your gift card codes there. Just be sure you’re logging into the correct account you want to receive the money. Hope this helps and you’re able to redeem your cards!

@MrPizza i found a solution, download the xbox app on your computer, once you have done that, login to your account. once you have done that, click on your profile and click settings. then scroll down and you will see a green button that says "redeem code" put in your code and accept it. it should work

You'd have to go back to Walmart but without a receipt it would be hard to prove that you purchased the Xbox Gift Card there. Unless Walmart's registers can keep track of your purchases by looking up your credit card transactions there. Does Walmart have a club card? If so and you used it during your purchase they'd probably have a record of everything you've bought there.

Yes! If it’s asking for an address you’ll need to enter that before your can use your gift card. But you’ll only be able to use Xbox Gift Cards that were issued in your region/country. Usually that’s not a problem when buying from a reputable seller or directly from Microsoft.

i bought a 50 pound gift card from morrisons they gave me the gift card and the receipt, then when i redeemed it on my phone it said you need to activate this giftcard, i told morrisons about this then they said to contact xbox, what shall i do?
I think Morrisons will have to do the activating. Are you able to go back to the store and have them check it? As long as you have your receipt and they're willing to check it. I think if you contact Microsoft they will also tell you to go back to the retailer where you bought your gift card.

Do you know where you bought your Gold card? Is it from a reputable seller? I recently found out that Gold cards were recently region locked just like Xbox Gift Cards. So if it came from another country you won't be able to use it. Can you check on your subscriptions tab on your Xbox to see if there's an expiration date for the Gold you just redeemed? Just for future reference, the best way to buy a Gold card is from a local store.

Yes! Unfortunately you will have to go back to the store with proof of purchase/receipt to have them activate the card. Usually it’s done at the cash register. However it’s going to be impossible to have it activated if you done have a receipt or know where it was purchased from. That info will have to be tracked down.

Have you checked to see if you have enough gift card money to cover the added tax? Also if you are buying a subscription service like Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass you won't be able to use the gift card money for those subscriptions unless you have a credit card associated with your account. It'll still ask how do you want to pay the rest if you don't have the credit card in your account.

I purchased a $100 Xbox gift card at gamestop tried to redeem it on my xbox and it told me that it was deactivated and go contact the seller and i did that the guy said he didn't deactivate it and couldn't give me a replacement nor refund because its against the policies he even still tried to do it but the computer wouldn't let him.he told me go contact microsoft and i did that i told them all about what happen they said they could not give me a refund because it was not purchased directly from them and told me to go get a refund i told them that gamestop would not let me because its against policies they also said it was against their policies and that i had permission to get a replacement or refund and that i should take screenshots of the conversation and go back to gamestop and show the person who sold it to me and i did that and the employee tried to refund it and still couldn't do it.

Can you log into your account at Xbox.com and check your balance there? I'm not entirely sure what's going on with your gift card. One thing I suspect is maybe your gift card is from another country/region? Xbox Gift Cards are region locked so they will only work in the country they were issued in. Do you know the origin of your Xbox Gift Card?

Adding Xbox Gift Cards to your Xbox shouldn't affect your PayPal account. When you have Xbox Gift Card money on your account it will use the gift card money first whenever you buy something. If for some reason you don't have enough gift card money, the Xbox will use your PayPal account to pay the rest of the purchase price. Hope this helps!

Try this. Log into your account at Xbox.com and see if your money shows up there. You can also buy games on the Xbox website. See if that works. When you buy the game online you'll have to find it in the Ready to Download section on your Xbox and manually start the download/installation.

Sorry you were having some issues buying V Bucks. If you used a $25 gift card to buy the $24.99 V Bucks item you definitely don't have enough to complete the purchase because of tax.

Okay, it mught be because the stire didn't activate the card because the cashiers don't run the registers anymore but usually when I get a card it activates it. I haven't had xbox live in over 2 years as well. When I go to redeem a card it asks me about payment which it shouldn't even do because it's a xbox live card.

Did you fill out your profile address? See if it works after you fill out that info. Hopefully your gift card is from the same region/country that you live in. Are you trying to buy something on the Xbox in the same country that your Xbox Gift Card money is from? Gift card money is region locked so where you are trying to make the purchase will matter.

Missing letters on an Xbox gift card is frustrating! But in the comments of this video it appears that other viewers have been able to recover their Xbox gift card code by contacting Xbox support. So it seems that even though you don’t have the whole code there is possibly a way you can get the full 25 digits and redeem the card.

Is your code a 25 digit code? If not then it’s probably a third party code that needs to be redeemed on the website of the company that issued it. Official Microsoft codes are always 25 digits. The instructions you got about redeeming on a webpage is correct if it’s not a Microsoft code. Once you redeem this third party code they should issue you an official Microsoft code. Hope this helps!

There may have been a server issue on Microsoft's side the other day. I heard one of my friends say something was wrong with Xbox online services the other day. However, you say that your gift card has already been redeemed when you when back to your Xbox? What happened was that maybe the gift card money got redeemed to your account but the purchase of the V Bucks never really happened because of the server issue. Check your gift card balance on the Xbox to see if your $15 is there. If so just go back to Fortnite and buy your V Bucks. Hope this helps!

Hmm! That's weird. Did you buy your gift card code from a reputable dealer? If you bought it at a physical store there shouldn't be any problem with you redeeming in your country. But if you bought it online from discount websites, eBay or similar website it's possible that the gift card isn't necessarily from your country because they may get their gift card codes from various sources. If you buy from the Microsoft store you definitely wouldn't have a problem. Amazon for your country should be ok but you still have to pay attention to who is selling it. If it is an official code from Microsoft you will be ok but random sellers could have a problem. I've heard about error messages that say to enter a billing address or zip code. Those errors for sure mean the gift card code is from another region. Hopefully you get this sorted out!

Where did you buy your gift card? If it was online you should have a copy in your email. If the code was only on the receipt then it's pretty much gone! You could go back to the place you bought the code and see if they have a record of it. Otherwise there's not much you can do at this point!

Yeah if you bought an Xbox Live Gold card from the store your subscription is fully paid for and all you have to do is redeem the code. The only thing I can think of at this point is whether or not you have an unpaid balance with Microsoft? That will keep you from doing a lot of things on your Xbox. But you talked to tech support and they couldn't tell you why? One last thing you can try is to log into your account at Xbox.com and redeem the code there to see if it works.
