    Thanks for that - I live in York and have often wondered just 'what' makes people queue all that time? The power of social media marketing I guess!

    Its tactile. Something unique that you can hold and maybe it calls out to you. Those in the comment's that say its a gimmick or just old shite really dont get it. The very same people that stare at Tik Tok videos all day and seldom realise what's really going on around them. As for the comment about the shop lady not being from York or Yorkshire I dont understand the point you are trying to make? You do realise this was and is a trading city where people passed through selling things or stopped to find work.
    Better get back to making Tik Tok videos and eating MacDonald's as cultural awareness is obviously lost on you!

    The shop lady is clearly not from York or Yorkshire. Or practiced her RP accent.
    Not been there for over 20 years , but a lovely old street. Another one (no tick-tock special shop) is Elm Hill in Norwich. Used as a location in Stardust. (The magical town)

    Same. Visited York from the US, saw the long queue. Did the research and the next day we were also in the queue. Heading back for Ghost Week!

    Good luck to them, although I don't really get it. Interesting and cute but not worth a 3 hour wait. The fudge shop a few doors down maybe x

    Are they all little ghost statues? So. Weird! Lol i would NOT think it was worth it! I'd peek in the window and call it good! 🤣

    First visit to york last weekend, walked down the Shambles, saw a massive queue for this shop, wondered what it was, and tried to peek in but it was too busy. Searched online for it the next day, and can't believe people queued for hours for a statue.

    Re: background noise - get a second microphone a small distance from your main one and invert the phase by 180 degrees.

    • @EveryFurtherMile
      @EveryFurtherMile  2 года назад +3

      I'm not sure what that means but hopefully we can google it :) Thank you so much for the advice, we do need a microphone or two ;)

      @@EveryFurtherMile The idea is to get a microphone close to the narrator and then get another one a metre or so away. The ambient background noise will be about the same for both microphones. But the one closer to the narrator (or other desired sound source) will pick up much more of the narrator's voice.
      By reversing the phase of one of the microphones (it doesn't matter which) the ambient noise will cancel out to a huge degree, leaving the desired audio largely unaffected.
      In any case, getting a single microphone as close to the narrator as possible will make a huge difference. So even just one mic that's not mounted on the camera would help hugely.
      Human hearing is very good at picking up the desired sounds in a live situation. There are visual and other clues. This is called psycho acoustics. It's a precise art and a vague science all at the same time.

      I think it was a very cute and fun store who the internet gods blessed with the good fortune of going viral but the hype has grown far bigger than the experience.
      Without a line up, or even a short one I would highly recommend it.

      We bought two for the boys, they loved it and it didn't take up a lot of room. It seemed far better then the fridge magnets and ashtrays that fill too many shops in tourist towns these days. Now that's stuff I get tired of seeing fast.
