Such good advice! I tend to struggle with backgrounds and your tips will make it easier for me. Thanks for sharing. Also, your blending colour test at the beginning is invaluable. I would never have thought of that!
This is one of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL backgrounds I’ve ever seen 😍 will be trying this out! Thank you! Would love to see more background tutorials from you girly! X
Thank you so much for the colour comparison chart, most thoughtful 😇 . Fab demo too. Just a note, I consider you amongst the most respected colourist utuber, you always go the extra mile to present reliable information for your viewer ....... Cheers for that 💋 😸
Curious thing. Just been putting the colour chart details onto my Polychromos chart, along with comparisons from a list/wheel DK Design produced .... You only agreed on "20" (greens mainly), and you totally disagreed on the greys. I think this says so much about colouring, and how our own eyes along with light (inc time of day), paper, colouring pressure etc are never constant. You both did a stellar job, I know my eyes see colours differently to my daughter. Thought it may interest you 😃
Great idea with the colour chart before starting, I tend to go with the flow then wonder why my colours don't look good. Your sky is amazing and really brings the page alive. Love your shading on the castle btw. Tfs xo
I actually like your "mistake" that led to spreading the purple out. I think the extra irregularity makes it look more like the Northern Lights, or some mysterious magical phenomenon in a fantasy world. Once I finish the picture I'm working on now, I'm going to try this background on the next one -- I have the perfect page in mind. ;)
I love your videos. I've learned a lot from you. You said that you need a special brush to brush away bits without smudging. I use several large, inexpensive makeup brushes. Mine come from the Dollar Store where each item is $1. These are the large ones you would use for blush or foundation. But i have also used the little ones too. And when i actually want smudges i use eye makeup sponge applicators.
Claire, I'm a massive fan of all your work, I knew I had seen you use a pencil extender I had never seen before so been going through all your videos to find it! Can you tell me where you got the extender you used in this video please? Kind regards Jo
