- Here I show the new Makita HS011GZ 40v Max XGT Cordless Circular saw that is capable of cutting 4x4 fence posts in one single pass. This saw is a game changer for me within my fencing business and I show just why this is in the video.
This saw has a 104mm depth of cut and is also compatible with the Makita and Festool track systems.
Not only does it cut 4x4 fence posts in one pass, but because it has such a large depth of cut, it is perfect for cutting the top of Hit & Miss style fences. I demonstrate this in the video and this is a real game changer for me.

how many teeth on the blade is best for 4x4 fence posts?
@@dobermaninattic Not sure, I just use the blade that came with it and it chews through 4x4 posts.
That’s a saw and a half,
Hope you’re busy with your favourite jobs,
thanks for sharing 👍🔨📐😄
Aye, it's a beast, busy as usual Gary, hope you are too mate. Good to hear from you buddy ! 😎👍
👍👍👍 It's a bit of a beast. Thank you.
It certainly is Pete, thanks for the comment mate 👍
Good for cutting 100mm Sleepers 👍
Perfect for that John (should have mentioned that in the video 😂), I think with a bit of getting used to, it will fast become one of my favourite tools mate. Thanks for the comment 😎👍
I specifically needed to see how it would work using a circular saw to cut the irregular tops off of a fence. A cedar fence. there's Narwal folks to talk or show videos about that. The first I thought maybe a sawzall. but I think I'm going to do as you did. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment. You can use this method with this particular saw or you can also use a track saw, although it will take a bit more time. I'm glad you found the video helpful !
@@Bacrenfencing I may try my angle grinder with a saw blade. I tested it out and it seems like it might work if I get a good plumb line
Yes, that would work, but can be pretty dangerous as I have done that myself in the past !
Tool and a half will save you time 👍🏻👍🏻
Sure will Ian, was pretty sceptical about the hit & miss fence trimming aspect, but works an absolute treat, That alone makes this saw worth every penny to me personally. Thanks for the comment mate 😎👍
@@Bacrenfencing aye it cut thru those fence slats early the motor hardly even dipped when under load exciting stuff to see it in action 👍🏻
Aye Ian, it has some amount of power, just needs a bit of practice to get used to it. Not used to swinging a huge saw above my heed ! 😂💪
@@Bacrenfencing not to worry m8 all part of being Scottish adapt n over come 😂😂
⚔😎
Great video mate have you tried this on sleepers ?
Sorry, I have not tried it, but it should work perfectly on standard 200 x 100 sleepers. I may make another video later as I do have a job coming up where I need to use some sleepers. Thanks for the comment 👍
Jaysus. Wicked saw. Where you get that wide capping. 40mm down here
Yes, it is a beast of a saw. I get the capping from my local saw mill, I usually get it 88mm or 75mm wide, they make it to order. I struggled for ages to get anything that wide, but luckily on good terms with the sawmill, so they see me alright with bespoke orders. Thanks for the comment ! 😎👍
@@Bacrenfencing Cheers. I gotta get me a tame timber merchant!
😂 Good luck with that mate ! 👍
Think it's the thickness of the track preventing a full cut. Just do a second pass no track.
Correct Matthew, it was definitely the thickness of the track that prevented that. I just thought I would use the handsaw in the video to demonstrate how little there was to cut, to get all the way through. Yes, you are correct, if I had simply removed the track and done a second cut, that would have done the same job. Or just free handed the saw along the line, it would have ripped the fence post in one go. Thanks for the comment 😎
Use eye protection, squinting don't count.
Squinting is the best way, it's saw dust.
