    What game do you want to see tested on the Atari 2600+? I have a few on the untested list, But imagine others have tested most already!.

    Interesting going with a rockchip. Thats a good competitor to the Raspberry Pi 3. Looks like Plaion knew what they were doing in making this the spiritual successor to the original 2600.

      Do you think it's because the price jump on Raspberry Pi's - The joystick is REALLY Good and feels so authentic - Thank you for the comment!

      @@StevesRetroGaming yeah. I suspected a rockchip. A pi would be nice , but to keep the costs to where they are , certain compromises had to be made. Cheers. Great content!

      @@aaronhiggsThe design is really just a (custom) Android TV Box design. Probably one of the stock Chinese-made designs that can be chosen by a TV Box manufacturer. There are lots of different models being sold as retro game boxes.

    Thanks for fulfilling my curiosity with the teardown! The design changes with the new sticks are interesting, and it's great to hear they feel authentic.

      I thought about a video just on the joystick, After the let down of waiting 20 seconds for a cartridge to load, at least the joystick feels very good - Thank you for the comment!

      YES, mine also. I think about 1980 - then Colecovision after than - Thank you for the comment!

    I think this is definitely worth buying just for the cool factor. Can you use the old original joy sticks? Awesome video.

      Yeap. The cx40 and paddles work!

      Yes you can! BUT the included Joystick feels so authentic, I loved it.

    Cool teardown, that looked like a footprint for an sd card slot socket on the back of the main pcb. You didn't really get a good image of it in the video.

    • @StevesRetroGaming
      @StevesRetroGaming  9 месяцев назад

      Oh that outline matches the small port on the front - see the top left corner of the PCB in the thumbnail. Could it be a port for any future firmware updates? IDK, I wonder how they plan on for any updates, I don't see a way without opening the unit.. Thank you for the comment!

      @@StevesRetroGamingIt's most likely for development & testing. There's no way for the average user to mount that microsd card slot on the board. I could do it (and I've dumped the NAND ROM too) but it's a specialist soldering job for advanced people with advanced soldering skills. Edit: Firmware updates will likely be on a usb stick via the USB-C port using a splitter cable just like the Atari Flashback X unit.

      @@g4z-kb7ct Great info - Thanks - there are two connectors on that main board. Maybe I should make a part#2 and really show it better or put under my microscope? I was wondering if update could be down on the USB-C power connector. I image you can send power and data through it can't you? Thank you for the comment.

    18 seconds to load missile command! Hilarious.

      It's so bad, reminds me of a Retron load, BUT at least on a retron, you get options and settings, this does NOT. Thank you for the comment!

    Screen looks all stretched out, is there a way to sat to 4:3 mode?

    • @StevesRetroGaming
      @StevesRetroGaming  9 месяцев назад +1

      IT IS STRETCHED - love the all caps? So I just rechecked the so called manual sheet - one page and all it show is how to plug this in and nothing more. I can't understand why there is not a menu to change screen format and other things. Thank you for the comment!

      Switch on the back to change screen size.
