Koda is reacting exactly what his breed is bred for. Livestock guardian dogs are calm and stoic around small animals.
This kitten is actually remarkably chill with the big dogs. Not even very defensive.
Please get Bella a safety collar. A safety collar is a collar with a clip and if the collar gets caught on something it comes undone so the cat does not choke. I really advise them as it saved my cats life one time. They are excellent and I really recommend them. 👍

She will totally get used to the boys. It might take a week, it might be a month. But she's totally young enough to adjust perfectly. The boys will too. And you can train her to walk on a leash with a harness. So many things you can teach her. Do it while she's little!!!! Also, Koda ignoring her is totally fine! His disinterest is a good thing. Don't force it.

I love the dog's reaction to the tiny kitten. They will adjust to each other soon. So cute that Cooper brought her a ball. Oh, and, I have a harness and leash for my cats. They like to go outside. And, no part of me believes you aren't going to keep this kitten. You've NAMED her!!

Also if you're going to collar a cat, MAKE SURE it's a breakaway collar. That way if she gets caught up in anything she can just rip herself out of it.
My aunts cat Oden figured out how to take off his breakaway collar...
Put it on him and he'll run behind the couch, take it off, and come back to you without it

My cats are outside cats and they have break away collars
My neighbour's cats need their collar to get in the cat flap and to open their food bowl, but one of them hates it so it would get rid of the collar and be trapped outside
Then get the cat a harness. If they get stuck on something it isn't putting pressure on their neck while still making it harder for them to take it off. For my cat, she's really small and we live in a rural area where there are fishercats, bears, porcupines, and other dangerous animals, as well as the temperature, going down as far as -20 degrees Fahrenheit. So our cat doesn't go outside. So she is an indoor cat and she is happy like this. I would recommend keeping your cats indoors. If you don't want that though, microchip, spay/neuter, and collar your pet.

Just a tip: I wouldn't encourage her to keep playing with your feet. It's cute when she's young, but as she gets older she'll still think it's okay to do and adult cat teeth and adult cat claws hurt a lot more than baby teeth and claws.
I agree with you about the Claws, but those tiny little pointy teeth that kittens have are almost like little short needles...
I don't know about you but a Kitten giving me a Playful Bite will make me react much faster than an adult cat giving me a Playful Bite. As for real bites I can't really say...
And with kittens when giving medications or supplements, or worse antibiotics, and you have to squirt it in their mouth or something, you will get scratched like Crazy!
Their claws hurt less but they are less aware of the pain they are causing and therefore more likely to use their Claws...

@Haven They're different breeds. Cooper is a Golden Retriever, which are known for being very hyper and Koda is a Great Pyrenees which are the complete opposite, they're very lazy.

My dog used to do that when I had my kitten named Lisa and since my dog Mace has been in the house with Lisa alot
they became GREAT friends when Lisa became taller and more like a cat so if you keep the cat and let it grow up with the dog, they will hopefully become great friends.. ;D

The more important thing is that the cat can get along with the dogs, if that can’t happen then the house and her environment would just make her too uncomfortable and unhappy.
@@zephyr5802 That takes time. It took my cat about 2-3 weeks to get comfortable with my dog and even then she was still a little unsure about him. Now they are practically inseparable.

Hi Trevor and Chels, I have 9 outdoor cats and two dogs, an outdoor dog and an indoor dog. I have had experiences when getting kittens when the kittens don't like the dogs. After a while the kittens got used to the dogs. So I am saying that your kitten will get used to the dogs and the dogs will get used to the kitten. Love you guys! Also, keep the kitten!

Just an ole Grandma here. Raised a few kittens around my dogs in my day. Actually I am impressed with your instincts for the kitten since you said you not had cats! But just one thing ! The kitten will be just fine. It is so young that he will grow up with your great dogs as a pal.Giving them time like you did and even alone time later will be fine too. You have the best dogs for this.
She will get used to the dogs. Most cats aren't used to seeing giant dogs. So it's a bit overwhelming at first for them. Once the kitten and dogs are allowed to run around for a few days or so, they will all be relaxed and fine with each other. I've owned cats and dogs together. So I have had experience. 🙂

Please keep the kitty, it will be tough at first because cats’ natural instinct is to protect themselves from bigger predators. And cats are quite brave. Since she hasn’t been with Cooper and Koda, it’s her defense mechanism. It may be tough at first but it will be worth it in the end.

Be careful with those collars, they are adorable but a lot of the times they can get the bow off and rhinestones off, also it didnt look like that was a breakaway collar, cats are better with the breakaway collars. They will choke themselves on the weirdest things cause they are so active, breakaway is better cause if they get stuck on something they wont get choked.

Elizabeth Meredith My cat is always getting stuck on things, she even got stuck on the wheel of a computer chair, and once on the holder of her food bowls too, thankfully we've always had a breakaway collar, there may be a crash bang but in the end the collar will save them. When you see the cat run past you and not have a bell sound you then have to go hunt for the collar 😂

My family is strong about having a dog and a cat to balance the house lol. The best thing you could possibly do is let them spend Time together. Don't pick her up and show them to each other because they already know that they are there. Let them go to each other and that can create an amazing bond. Don't give up just yet.

You just need to let her put Cooper in his place. He needs to understand boundaries and an occasional hiss and a nose swat will help him with that

Guys. I’m serious if you keep the kitty the dogs and cat will get accustomed to each other it just takes some time. If you do have any concerns about the kitten and the dogs getting along I think you should ask your vet and he’ll tell you the same thing as me

Even if the dog and cat don't get along, I'd be comfortable leaving them if they were like Koda and Bella. He went to play with her, she didn't want to and hissed and he immediately backed off. That dog knows how to speak cat

Would definitely suggest a cat tree for her to use up her claws. She'll definitely prefer that to your furniture. And please also give her wet food. Dry food is super high in carbs and they tend to be overweight pretty quick. And their teeth get Bad quicker because there is also a lot of sugar in it. And they also get a lot of their water from the food they eat because Most cats tend to not drink enough.

I have had like 5-7 cats in my life and they eat dry food and their teeth are really healthy. and again, svluxasv all my cats that i have had in my 11 years of living( like 5-7 maybe 8) dont care where their food or water is, they just care if they get to eat it... :) :(
