So I think 3 tours back a good friend of mine bumped into Jez on a random gig ,Jez asking him what his favourite bands where , so of course my mate mentioned Mode , all I can say is Jez did him and his wife a wonderful favour 6 months later , Jez is a top bloke , kind and considerate and a true Gentleman. It was nice to see Jez at work handing the strings over to Martin at Manchester, spectacular!
Amazing collection of guitars there! I want that Gretsch!! And it s all be come so hi-tech! Great technician that jez! No one ever thinks about the crew behind the musicians! Nice insight! And he worked with the cure ! Omg!!
I am glad I made the decision to record this, it seems from the amount of nice comments this was greatly appreciated. My son assumed I was standing behind the screen recording and not experiencing the reality, but I had the mobile down beside me and was paying attention. However like all things, moments can become memories and you can forget things you were told. Comments like yours are positive and constructive, so thank you for taking the time to respond.
Thanks for posting. I've honestly never thought of doing a VIP but this is something pretty unique, a proper incite. Nice guy too, knows his stuff and I'm sure could have been super techy but pitched it right, just show the punters Martin's most iconic guitars. Job done 👏
That was really cool. I've watched the video and read the comments and you did everything right. That's a very unique opportunity to do so and you made the right decision. You only live once. I wanna also thank you for sharing. Bye ✌️ 😃
First time I saw them was at Wembley Arena 1985. I liked Everything Counts when it was released and bought Construction Time Again immediately. When Some Great Reward was released I bought it straight away and then every album release from then on was bought on all 3 formats on day of release. I consider that I have been on a great journey. I saw Dave Gahan and the Soulsavers at the London Coliseum in December 2021 and shook Peter Gordeno's hand and had a brief chat and laugh. That'll probably be the closest to meeting them, my Cousin had the opportunity of meeting Andrew Fletcher and Martin Gore and got me a personalised signed photo, this was also cool.
@@1i2cVision Thank you for sharing. I have found myself listening to DM a lot these past few years. They were the soundtrack of my teens and twenties. 🙏
Thank you for enjoying this. I was in two minds whether I should stand there videoing, but it seems that it has been warmly received. Therefore I am glad that I can share it with people who didn't have the opportunity.
Thanks for sharing. I was there that night and wish I could have had this experience. That guy asking questions about if UK was the end of the tour and about the Rose Bowl is obviously NOT a DM fan.
Really interesting. Shame you didn't get to meet the band. I got tickets to a VIP Simple Minds gig. We got to meet them all and attend the sound check, and a question and answer session. A phenomenal experience. ✨️
I have got to meet Peter Gordeno on another occassion and he's a terrific guy with a good sense of humour. I know this band now has many fans, so I accept that they can't attend in person for things, purely because of money. However, I have met a number of my personal favourites over the years and I have never been let down.
Based on the discussion, it seems like it was the first London show (22-01-2024) rather than the second. I was there too that night (and in DC), great show!
This was the Ultimate VIP package and it cost a staggering £531.75. I paid this as I considered I had been following the group for 38 years and the possibility this could be the last tour. They’ve been a part of my life since a rebellious teenager and made songs that were pushing boundaries (New Dress ~ Blasphemous Rumours for instance). Seeing them emerge into pure professional’s (Never Let Me Down Again) and continuing to carry on regardless. An 80’s group that never had to finish or reunite. A band that was slated (especially in the UK for nearly 20 years) and then turning the tables. The cost, in my opinion, was worth it. It included a very good seat, getting to see a lot of historic memorabilia, a special edition goodie bag and getting on stage before the show, plus food and drinks in a guest lounge. Long answer, but hopefully covers everything!
Wow what an amazing opportunity ! All those guitars are gorgeous too ! He was a lovely guy wasn’t he , Very down to earth and friendly .. they must have their reasons not to have phones on stage and and also you can enjoy the experience fully , I was at the Manchester concert and it was unbelievable, brilliant !! and even better I got to share it with my daughter who bought the tickets as a surprise for Christmas! I had been wanting to go but none of my friends could go for various reasons .. I cried with happy tears on Christmas Day when my daughter said “ We are going to see Depeche mode “ :) … she enjoyed it so much much too and was amazed at Daves energy for a guy who isn’t in his 20,s anymore ! So fit and agile .. my first concert was 1982 see you tour with Matt Fretton as support :)
thank you so much for uploading! my biggest question is: will there be any lefties? im a left handed gretsch player inspired by Martin and would buy a leftie IMMEDIATELY!
A dream to talk with this guy… Since I am very invested in Martin L Gore's guitar sound and history, this is such an opportunity to get an insight about what's going on during the live setting. What type of VIP is that actually? Is this a VIP ticket that can be bought during the sale of tickets or different - more rare VIP to get to meet J. Webb?
I think the opportunity to meet Jez and have this moment before the show appears to be a bonus and was not in the desciption of the VIP package. It mentioned going on stage before the show and a few usual VIP things, such as a lounge and food and drink, which also contained a lot of DM memorabilia and a unique gift pack. The ticket itself was available to purchase on Ticketmaster the moment tickets were opened, but no idea how many tickets were available at this point. I decided after 40 years I would treat myself and went ahead and purchased without much thought. To clarify, I did ask how many tickets were available for this and it was 24. I hope this information helps? Thank you for watching and responding. It was kind of wild and going up on stage was a bit surreal, but we were not allowed to film this or take photos, but the guide did take group shots of us and we'll get these photos shortly.
It was advertised early release on ticketmaster. There was a high cost, but after 40 years of following DM, thought I would treat myself. There were only 24 tickets. We also got to go up on stage before the show too, but we were not allowed to film or use our phones. We did have photos taken by the promoter. I have to give them credit [Live Nation] because they really did a great job. We received some exclusive items too and was able to see old memorabilia and food and drink in a VIP lounge before the show, with a great seat within the venue included. I think it was worth it, you can only regret not doing something I believe. Thank you for your comments.
Thanks! I actually got to play one of Martin's Gretsches at the auction a few years ago when Alan sold of all his gear, he even showed me around the sounds on an Emulator II that was one of the action lots.@@1i2cVision
Wow. What an amazing insight from a guy who has worked with the band since 1993. Thanks so much for sharing
Very cool!
Glad to see Martin finally getting his signature model!!!!
It's very cool

Glad you enjoyed it!

I appreciate that! It's a really nice comment made by yourself and makes me feel a little humble. Music and creativity are akin to being a human.
Jez Webb - remember him from The Mission, used to bump into him at lots of their gigs
Thanks. My first show was Music for the Masses. Big fan starting with Some Great Reward. .

Well said. It was embarrassing.
Cash waiting for the - long overdue - Martin signature Gretsch!

It was the concert on the Saturday 27th January.
I got a Gretsch back home. A 12 string. Great guitar.
Wow!
Really good insight into what is involved in a DM gig.
The Gretsch signature guitar would look good hung on anyone's wall.
Hmmmmmm, maybe.
It's tempting isn't it!?
anyone besides me who was listening to the video to see if H G Tudor was in the gathering ..seems he goes to every show ,that mysterious Ultra hahaha
We had a group photo taken on stage after this encounter with Jez, though I won't be able to upload the photos here.
🥰👍❤❤❤👍🥰
How much is the ticket? I purchased the VIP package for Turin

Nice one, thanks for sharing. One question: why were you asked to put your phones away after this?
We were given the opportunity to go onto the stage, but if we had our phones out we would be sent home!

Jez is a great guy to work with, but to prove nobody is perfect....he is a Derby Ckunty fan.... oh well nearly 😂
'Ckunty' - is that deliberate or a spelling mistake? Please let it be the latter.
Derby County - A football, cricket, rugby team?
