@@MrTimurLP He basically got what he wanted before he dies,in this sense he has already won the game.Micah however thinks that surviving in a cruel changing world is winning and in that sense he is a survivor because he gets to live which is winning from his perspective.
I think you mean the era of the Outlaw. Like he told Dutch, that the world don't want their kind anymore. I took that Arthur meant Outlaws, Gunslingers and thieves.
This is one of my favorite themes from the game. It reflects the strength and determination that resides within Arthur despite the fact that life is slowly slipping away from him. He was truly unshaken, undefeated and unbeaten until the very end. Micah, Dutch, Javier, Bill... They are the ones who lost. They've lost everything... Arthur found his redemption and the ultimate peace within. He won.
Carlos Bravo and don’t forget Jack Marston in rdr3 because like his uncle Arthur once said “revenge is a fool’s game” and he killed retired pinkerton agent and FBI man Edgar Ross to avenge his father John but he has a brother and a wife so they’re peaceful so they’ll probably forgive him except for the government because he killed a retired man in cold blood
I don't see it as going back for the money, I see it as going back to knife that rat Micah in the eye. Helping John is fine and all but I prefer Arthur going out like a badass chasing down cowardly Micah and Dutch, yelling their names while gunning down every Pinkerton in the way. It's like Arthur going into his gunslinger killing machine mode one last time. And unlike the help John ending where Micah's face is perfectly fine, here Micah lost an eye and got face scars to remember Arthur by.
I’ve played a lot of games where the final boss is some sort of monster, or sorcerer, and it usually involves stopping something that will end the world, yet none of them gave me chills the way two outlaws having a fistfight on the side of a mountain did. This game is a masterpiece.

Love how it just becomes a simple buildup but the violins and such just make it, man.
The all the bits of the song start to vanish as u fight Micah indicating that u are running outta time till u die but there is still that one instrument that refuses to go stop playing showing that Arthur won’t give up
I just love this OST it goes from the feeling that Arthur is going to sacrifice himself by holding off the pinkertons than it completely changes tempo when micah comes in, like Arthur knows this is his last chance to kill micah before he dies and he is absolutely determined to take him out.
"You lie Micah, You're the rat. Not molly dutch, it's him. Him! Kill him! Not molly, not miss grimshaw, not even colm, it's him.." To me one of the truly memorable lines arthur morgan has said
Honestly I love that Arthur didn’t kill Micah at the end. Would’ve hated their bodies being in proximity to each other in the end. Arthur getting to be alone (whether shot, stabbed, or on the cliff watching sunrise) in the end means that Arthur gets some degree of peace after the chaos of saving his friend’s life in a self sacrificing way that lets his reflect on his being. I imagine the cutscene after his death is less about a show of how “honorable” or dishonorable a character was and more about how Arthur goes onto death. Either he becomes a scavenger who picks up the pieces of his sins or that job is already done and he gets to just go on. Its the type of ending for a character I can’t imagine could be done in the aftermath of successfully killing another for revenge or the distracting presence of another body.
I remember reading about the ending if low honor Arthur goes with John, getting shot and spat on and Micah saying you're not better than him. I thought that that is a terrible reward for making the right choice at the end. But then I realized that that is exactly what that Arthur deserves. He isn't better than Micah, one noble act doesn't redeem a life of selfishness and violence. Low honor Arthur dies knowing he did the right thing, but he isn't rewarded because he shouldn't be. Only a high honor Arthur that went with John, chose to save lives, deserves that peaceful ending, deserves Micah fleeing, frustrated and knowing that Arthur *is* better than him. Then you earn the reward of redemption. Arthur lived a bad life, but he dies a good death after realizing the error of his ways and tryin in earnest to make it right. Forgiveness doesn't come to those who say they are sorry and ask for it, it comes to those who show it and make amends, not seeking forgiveness, but because they have chosen to do the right thing.

Arthur getting to be alone (whether shot, stabbed, or on the cliff watching sunrise) in the end means that Arthur gets some degree of peace after the chaos of saving his friend’s life in a self sacrificing way that lets his reflect on his being.
