Isaiah 50:4-11
In the days of Isaiah, the Israelites found themselves uprooted from their homeland and driven to an ungodly country. They were far from the temple, far from the priesthood. Never had they felt farther from God and His promises. They experienced great darkness and trouble. Yet, in the midst of all this, God describes a servant of His who will come. His servant is endowed with wisdom to instruct the weary who are surrounded by darkness. He is also highly qualified to help those who sit in darkness because He Himself will face unparalleled darkness, yet not lose faith in His God.
