    How do you determine if the problem is the magnetic sensor ( 1066380-00-A ) or the other larger sensor ( 1066379-00-A ) ?

    How do you know what parts fail. I never seem to fix and always have to call for repair. Sucks. What make it open when you lightly push on it?

    If it’s the magnetic sensor will the handle make any noises? I hear nothing it does nothing and makes no noise. The gear is not cracked either

    My 2021 Tesla Model S Performance with Gen 2.1/3.0 handles, having similar issues driver side door handle comes out and then retracts halfway however when I try to open it I can’t, I don’t hear any grinding noises just a buzzing noise when it initially presents itself and then retracts half way. I tried doing the service mode door handle calibration but that didn’t work it just presents itself and the retracts halfway and I get a calibration failed message stating “DHFD calibration failed. Handle stalled too early while presenting or retracting. Make sure there is no obstacle on the handles path as it moves.” I made sure nothing is obstructing the handle. Not sure what to do.

      1. Locate fault door.
      2. Remove door panels from fault door and working door on same side.
      3. Switch door module between them and retry calibration on fault door but whit module from working door.
      4. If calibration is ok, you will know 100% that door module is dead.
      5. Order a new module and enjoy :)

      @@thecstechvideos what causes door modules to go bad you think?

  • @Paalwable
    @Paalwable Год назад +2

    What was the symptoms here, when the module/sensor failed? I have a gen 3 handle, that presents normally with the rest of the handles, but once fully extracted, it just retracts back inside immediately. I have tried to grab it while out just to see what happens, then it just stays out, with a blinking led underneath, and not opening the door if I pull it. And it stays out this way, even if I lock the car, still blinking. But if I use some force and wiggle it a bit, it suddenly retracts again. Then, after that, when unlocking it presents and retracts as described before..

      Try to make a full software reinstall on your car from service menu on screen, that will rewrite all modules

    • @AlanMcYou
      @AlanMcYou Год назад +1

      @@thecstechvideos I tried that and got nowhere.
      My symptoms are different. Initially the motor gear (not paddle gear) was cracked. Before I got around to replacing it, the door handle stopped moving. It still opened the door by pressing on the recessed handle. Now with the gear replaced, the motor can be driven to extend and retract the handle smoothly.
      Unfortunately, the car doesn't try to use the motor. I'm thinking this is an error status that needs to be cleared. Thoughts?

      @@Lobintsev Yes! I was correct in believing that I had fixed the door handle. However nothing would get it to work.
      A few months later, Tesla released a software upgrade that included new options in the service menu. One of those was the ability to recalibrate the door handle. That page showed that the car knew that the handle was out of operation and offered a button for recalibrating. Pushed the button and, less than a minute later, it worked perfectly. It has continued to do so ever since.

    • @thecstechvideos

      Trey to put car in service mode and do a full software reinstall. Is just the module. Sensor and gear should work. In my case, I reverse front door whit rear door and then full software reinstall....and surprise...it's work.

  • @wersuss

    Mine fails to calibrate. Extends fully retracts half way. Says something in the way but nothing is in the way. Is it hall sensor or motor? Happens after car wash or rain. Sometimes fixes itself after staying dry.

    • @thecstechvideos

      Handle inside has a hall sensor connected to a module that is capsulated. Thant module can cause problems since weather can enter into connector area. Try to remove and check seal of connector.

      1. Module can be uncalibrated. 2. If calibration fail, and you have GEN1 or GEN2, check sensors/switches in handle or their cables. 3. If you have GEN3 - door module fail.

    2 of my 3gen handles have damaged in similar cases. First one was when i returned to car and grabbed the handle right when it was retracting - crunch and handle goes touchmode only. Second time was winter when i was about to enter, the door decided that some ice was blocking the door and it retracted while my fingers were already in - quillotine crunch and once more the door works only touch🎉

    It is also common for the gear on the motor to break. We are working with a manufacturer to get new ones to sell on our Tesla parts website.

    • @lisapanwell17
      @lisapanwell17 Год назад

      We definitely had this exact mechanical failure of the gear. I just checked your site, do you have any parts available for order? We have a 2018 Model S Gen 3 door handle that failed to present properly as others have noted. We found a cracked pinion gear connected to the motor. And due to the crack, there is additional free play between the motor shaft and the gear which likely leads to the hall effect sensor not landing in a proper position to unlock the car. Would love to find the part and not have to buy the complete motor.
