- Welcome to the recap of Miss Teen USA 2024. I didn't expect much improvement for the show, and that assumption was correct. The contestants were lovely as ever, and did their best to deliver strong performances, on very short notices. It's clear that the contestants were putting in effort, I only wish those efforts were rewarded by a top notch production and truly once in a lifetime experience.

Hello Dani I went back through my DVD's of Miss USA and from Miss Teen USA 2024 Miss Teen Georgia looks like Miss USA Washington 1998 Natasha Vantramp wow they look like twins also you can go to Carlos Pageant page to see it He has all pageants on there as well Mine are on DVD not sure how to Download them to RUclips
Honestly let’s get a petition for you to become the director for the miss USA organisation. You have a such a clear vision of what can be possible, and with your experience in pageantry as well as the connections you’ve fostered because of that, you would restore the miss USA pageant to its former glory!

@@umeshvaghjiani822 "If she was smart...". And there lies the crux to the whole matter. Personally, I think Laylah Rose is way in over her head on this. She may have the right personality for being a designer, but she probably doesn't have the right personality to finesse sponsors and others who can do so much to help out with the show.
Dani is not holding back, she is done with the US pageant management!
Shes really good only set back abt her was her opinion abt miss supra, which i felt was a but clouded as they invited her to poland for the show
Supra did a great job with their production. They have unique staging every year featuring world class performers. The contestants were there for weeks. They had sooo many events to attend. That's veeeery different from the current state of USA unfortunately :(

I feel sorry for the girls this year! They deserved a real Miss Teen USA experience. I miss the days when Miss USA and Teen USA were held separately in different months. I’m happy to see Miss Teen USA back on television, but it wasn’t the come back show I was expecting. They should have included the state costumes part of the opening number, like in the early 1990s of Miss USA.

Who knows. Sometimes budgets are cut in order to keep the show a float. You may want to cut the budget to decrease debts, rather than increase profits. I'm not sure if the show is currently profitable.
@DaniWalker, couldn't she have gotten volunteers that would have helped her? I'm sure that she could have found people who would love to put the Miss and Teen USAs on their resume.
Layla Rose looks like Jennifer Coolidge impersonating Layla Rose....she's turned Miss USA/Teen into a spoof movie.😢

Honestly Dani thank you for the prep as I look forward to ur MISS USA recap. Because chillllleeeeeeeeeeee 85%+ of those placements (in Miss) did not make sense 😭😂

Cheap is absolutely the best descriptor of the pageants this year. Obviously Miss takes precedence when it comes to the two televised competitions, but it was painfully obvious they were cutting corners in the Miss Teen.
I wasn't surprised by the lack of an Uma mention due to the very public bad blood amongst the parties involved, but still would've been nice to at least recognize your previous titleholder. As well, the video for previous Teen titleholders would've been a great concept if THEY ACTUALLY USED TEEN TITLEHOLDERS. I've been waiting for the pageant to do a video of previous titleholders and where they are now/what the pageant means to them on a significant year. (i.e. 2014, 2004, 1994, 1984, 1974, etc.)
About the crown... I didn't even notice how cheap it was until your Insta story about the missing star. Yikes. If you're supposed to be THE premiere pageant in the country, get this ship back on track and get some semblance of a sponsor.
Can we also talk about how the holes in the stage were probably supposed to be for other cameras, lights, audience members, or judges and nothing was put there? Miss Teen WV probably doesn't fall in if whatever they were planning for the stage was in place.
As always, great video Dani! Who would've thought we would be desperate for IMG to come back. I'm sure that by commenting on your videos I'm guilty by association and persona non grata with Laylah lmao.

I really miss the days when the pageant was longer than a week (was this even a week?). I know there are pros and cons, especially for the Miss USA pageant, to have a 2 week pageant, but the girls used to get to do so much. I've been watching past pageants and while I get things evolve and pageants have strongly declined in ratings and favorability, it's crazy how these girls used to get treated like royalty. I can't even get over the prize packages they used to get. I feel like they could still get a really great experience despite a decreased budget and sponsors.
And I know it's been said, but they really need to put you in charge of this pageant. At least organizing events.
I miss those days as well. I was so fortunate to have nearly two weeks in Louisiana for my year

I can't even say enough how sad I am. Being Miss USA was my dream and to see it reduced to this is so heartbreaking to me. These young women have the same dream and I know how it feels to pour everything into this pursuit, but now it doesn't seem like there's a real benefit in doing so.
Morgan was so fake because she complained that the Miss USA organization didn’t do anything for her yet she went back to work with them?

Miss Universe has always been at Miss USA
Miss universe is seperate from miss USA and teen. There is a cost associated with miss universe attendance and that was not happening. Rbonny didn't attend USA last year and she was miss universe

To me is funny the fact that Morgan supports the current organization and directorship. I remember she attended Nia Sanchez's podcast and talked about her experience after she inherited the Miss USA crown. She was neglected during her "reign," but she still supports the same organization that mistreated both UmaSofia and Noelia. Lol.
I believe I have an understanding of why that is. Information shared with me would paint a very different picture of the reign. It's not my story to tell, but I hope that one day, the other parties involved will share their side of the story to shine a light on what happened during those months.

I also find it interesting that (as of me posting this) the creator of the Miss Teen USA crown, Ricardo Patraca, doesn't even have the crown posted on his personal IG account. And he always showcases his crowns on his IG account.
Imagine the crown's own creator not even wanting to showcase the crown on his own IG page, maybe this shows that he's either a) not happy with the final result of the crown and is too embarrassed to showcase it on his IG account or b) the organization did him so dirty that he doesn't even wanna promote them.
But I'm just speculating at this point.
That crown is ugly as hell.

Addie carver. Miss teen USA is from my county ! :) she goes to school with my son. They had a small pep rally at the school after and suppose to have a meet and greet the 17th with her. I wouldn't mind meeting her in person. She has helped put out little town on the map. We are very happy for her.

I know I'm biased being from Missouri but I was shocked when I heard Kansas won fitness and interview but didn’t place top 5! Like, what?? Recap was spot on!
I do see that happen in pageants. I believe the winners of each area of competition were the prelim winners. I'm pretty sure that they get a fresh start during finals. In that case, everything would come down to her top 10 performance. If judges didn't envision her in a top 5 at that point, they could have given her a lower score resulting in exclusion of the top 5.

And most of the teens don’t look so teen in my opinion, the hair and make up made them look more mature .

Indeed, Layla Rose has room for growth. It's my hope that she will accept constructive criticism, allowing the Miss USA organization to progress, create pageants that meet high standards, foster authentic relationships with her team, sponsors, and winners. However, I must express my satisfaction with the new crown.

This was the first time I watched Miss Teen USA in its entirety because of the recent you know what. Wish that wasn’t the reason, but the young ladies made the show. Otherwise. Wow. That show was sad. No LED backdrop could have saved anything in that format. I would be surprised if CW picks up Miss USA to televise going forward.

I was shocked they did a state costume considering the short time them had to put it together. I agree another cost that they didn't need to put up and didn't go towards their scores. The quality showed for it being last min I couldn't even find the show.

Congratulations to the young ladies that have competed!🎉 and of course congratulations to the newly crowned queens, I hope they do have a memorable and amazing year without any drama and scandals…. However the amount of corners cut on a televised national scale tells me that the org isn’t going to fully live up to their end of the deal :( Still, I’m wishing for the absolute best for Alma and Addie! ❤❤
I'm hoping for that too. I joke in episodes, but it's not actually funny for the girls. I feel terrible that they don't get an experience that was truly once in a life time, like the one I had.
When i was watching the show a lot said that the gowns looked too mature do you think it's because they didn't have time to vet and custom their gowns?

I hope we don't have to wait too long. I do believe a turn around is possible for current leadership, but making changes will be difficult. Laylah will need to bring on people that are honest about the entertainment value of the show, and those people will need to help take it in a new direction.

@@user-hb8yu8yt9d the franchise fee is paid out over time. 6 million over 12 years. Which still isn’t cheap. That’s the cost for the franchise fee, it doesn’t include titleholder salary, travel, production costs, staff, etc.

The crown looks cheap. The whole show looks cheap. It looked like one of those regional child pageants, like Little Miss Sunshine (if you have not seen the movie, stop everything and find where it is streamed). There used to be a few pageants that were the creme de la creme: Miss World and Miss Universe, at the international level. At the national level, it was Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA. For awhile, Miss America took a bit of a tumble, but it seems to be doing so much better. Seeing what is happening to Miss USA and Miss Teen USA is depressing.

Yes, I mentioned in my other episode, got my nose done. It's healing so I can't raise my upper lip all the way yet.
Her voice was also straining in spots, I hope the nose job didn’t affect her voice.

I love how Addie wore the same gown when she won the state pageant, let's hope she's is not affected any way by the current mess in the organization, the last thing pageant fans want is another controversy in the news. You can definitely see the low budget in the broadcast, you don't have to be an expert.
Note: The ending of the video was so unexpected with the disorganization, the crew in charge needs to be fired, and Laylah Rose should resign because she's doing a very bad job and scaring sponsors, if they have any left.

really bad song choices & boring performances. the good thing is the whole show ends within 2.5 hours. but overall, not good.
On a production standpoint this year: Miss Teen USA > Miss USA

22:24 NO offense meant but those crown prongs look somewhat like the 1900's hatpins with bigger rounded pointy-things-- like those that Marge Simpson's mom wears on her head in "The Simpsons".
I didn't really care for this new crown. The ones they design for Miss France are gorgeous, each year's design is unique
Miss France is arguably the best National pageant for MUO.
@@DaniWalker Absolutely agree. I'm a Canadian and Miss France is one of my favorite international pageants to watch - I love how there's a different theme every year and the competition rounds are centered around it

Can someone file a lawsuit against the national director for neglecting her duty and obligation as an owner? AND WHO MISSES WHEN MISS UNIVERSE, USA AND TEEN USA WERE ONCE TOGETHER
I can’t imagine wearing that crown. Every appearance she has to go to she has to wear that giant thing on her head. I prefer something the size of last year’s crown, maybe a bit bigger. I feel like when queens go to events like schools, a crown will allow them to fit in more and not look snobby if you get what I’m saying. The tiara from last year was discreet but just enough to tell something was there

I watched the pageant and thought it was OK. Everything was mediocre, the venue, the production, the music, and the hosts. The bright spot were the beautiful contestants otherwise it was dull and lifeless. I thought that the Teen pageant was better than the Miss pageant. The Miss pageant was so bad that once I watched it online with a big square that obscured the stream I was not interested enough to watch it again on the television. This is a rant...I'm in CA, the pageant is in CA...I have to wait until it is over to see it while the East Coast sees it live. Sorry, I do not work in television so if I am missing a pivotal point please clue me in... Congrats to the winner....S T U N N I N G!
Awful that the teens could not get into the hotel./ Layla being a hypocrit / safety is a must / Teens should look like teens/ State costumes are not necessary need parade of gowns/ Dani Who are your top 5 teens?
There was a time where Miss USA was so good and seeing how it declined is so sad and crystal Stewart was way better than Layla just that her husband was allegedly doing bad things

No, Crystle’s direction for the pageant was just odd. Now that she had already produced a Miss Universe in RBonney, and from her home state to boot, I guess her job is done.

The Crown looks so cheap and to big for her head. Always loved Teen USA & Miss USA -Miss Universe . I really don't know what to say anymore about the whole thing. West Virginia falling in the Hole then popping up like (Jack in the box ) I was drinking my coffee when she fell in the hole I spit it out choking i was laughing so hard in a good way when she pooped back up . My guess is because the pageant had high viewership, which is important for sponsors. Many choose to sponsor because of the pageant's broadcast reach. The queens were also at a ton of high profile events, like movie premiers, late night shows, NYFW, etc. They were dressed by sponsors for these events, so the sponsors got even more press. It was a mutually beneficial partnership during the Trump era. When viewership drops, an org has bad press, or treats a sponsor poorly, the sponsors leave. It's just like when celebs get dropped from brand deals after a headline news scandal.
