Unbelievable great man!! When he lived in NJ we both worked at a Powerhouse gym. Had many meals and conversations with him. Honestly one of the best human beings I ever met!!
What an awesome interview, and what an awesome man. He was a legendary bodybuilder, and I couldn’t be happier to know that he found the joy of family. There’s nothing greater here on Earth!
I met Gunther at his booth at a bodybuilding expo early 2000 ..very friendly and nice man..also a giant of a man in person must have been well over 300 lbs.
I saw him once in Bern in Switzerland ... he was a guest at the beginning of professionalism .... he was much more enormous than he seemed in the picture, great , ciao Gunter
Great interview Shawn. Great interviews on our past heros. If I may say, your microphone system was somewhat difficult to hear at times Love Gunter. Always a great personality and gentleman. Wish him all the best. 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Crazy how if I were to see him today in that exact attire in this video, I would’ve never guessed he has competed at the Olympia stage against Ronnie Coleman.
Gunther is one of the nicest guys around, great body (not perfect balance, but very good). He worked hard to stay always in the zone. Not fully used his body potential (which in a ways is good), but he's a giant, so, nothing to critic. Great Great guy.
Love Gunther! Always was a great pro bodybuilder with excellent physique for a 6'2" guy. And he's a good guy who is always pleasant to listen too. I wish him well in whatever he does, but I wish I could still get one of those dumbbell pendants for chain necklaces he created back in the day.
In the 90' Gunter was a huge.inspiration and motivation for all bodybuilding fans frome Europe.Amazing Bodybulider and such.a great personality. I miss a lot those years.Social media promote a lot now, but we loose personalities in sport like before.Marvel shoud do some.movie about super heroes on the past, obviously with BBuilders
Shawn Ray is like the Barbra Walters of the Bodybuilding industry - remembers facts the interviewee cannot, corrects ppl in condensing way, always includes his career as part of your questions. At this point, I'm just waiting for someone to cry, while Shawn continues drilling you w/ his million dollar smile!
An aesthetic mass monster. Top ten all time in my book. They need to quit giving the olympia to the same dude every year. So many guys just don't get recognition. Like Paul Dillet, Ruhl, Gunter, etc.
Great interview...gunter was one of my fav!!... You should try I do interview with Markus ruhl!!... I herd...ruhl had a disease that eat away his chest muscle and It forced him to retire
Dorian and gunter are probably if not dead like a lot still look healthy and are both really down to earth blokes they obviously were clever lifters and not ego lifters
Please buy a shotgun mic for the episodes you record outside. They aren’t very expensive but will make a huuuuuge difference for the viewers. The audio in this is too low and there’s too much wind noise. Thanks in advance
Fantastic guy. Should have been as big as Arnold. But Olympia judges were biased, unworthy of judging an athlete like Gunter. He was better looking and bigger than Arnold. Great man. In a decent competition, media landscape he would have been a national hero for the U.S. and Germany.
Wonderful and inspiring interview. Glad to hear you, Kim and Jake are doing well. Miss you my friend. Let's try and get reconnected. ArmingChampions.com
@@DigitalMuscleTV True, de Mey is 8 years older. Still a bit suspicious about testing in pro BB contests ;-) (Perhaps for diuretics?) Or it could have been a bit like WBF practices....
Gunter aged very well... looks happy, fit and healthy!
A tip: watch series at Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Boone Luke Definitely, been watching on flixzone} for months myself =)
@Boone Luke yup, have been watching on Flixzone} for months myself :D
He look like he had it just as a career and not an addiction to be working out extreme but retired in peace.
And people say steroids will kill you😂😂😂 idiots
Unbelievable great man!! When he lived in NJ we both worked at a Powerhouse gym. Had many meals and conversations with him. Honestly one of the best human beings I ever met!!
6:45 Gunter has no resentment over the placings, and you can see the joy on his face when brings up the standing ovation. Such a humble guy.
What an awesome interview, and what an awesome man. He was a legendary bodybuilder, and I couldn’t be happier to know that he found the joy of family. There’s nothing greater here on Earth!
Very nice guy, humble and seems to be a very honest man.
I met Gunther at his booth at a bodybuilding expo early 2000 ..very friendly and nice man..also a giant of a man in person must have been well over 300 lbs.
NEVER SEE GUNTER ANYMORE GLAD YOU HAD A CHANCE TO INTERVIEW THE GERMAN GIANT
Anyone else notice mid 90's and early 2000's bodybuilders seem down to earth and would be fun to hang out with .
Barry Kitchen watching an interview says nothing how they are in real life. They could be the biggest dick in the world and you or I wouldn’t know it.
@@Iceman-xe7jo Your obviously right. Generalising in every topic is silly.
Maybe because they are all old and retired now.
I met him in person at the Arnold Classic Gunter was so modest and surprised I new who he was! A true champion and great soul 🥰
Great athlete in his day! I felt he was overlooked far too many times in the competitions back in the hey day! Great interview again 110%
He comes across as a really likable person and he was a great bodybuilder for his size and era...
I had the pleasure of speaking to this guy in my gym whilst he was still competing. Very polite .. cool dude
Man I love this guy..
Such a nice and charismatic guy
Good to see him happy and good health.
I liked Gunter. I'm 50 also, but didn't start lifting until age 33. He was on top then.
My memory is the same.. 👍
I started at 32 & seem him at the Arnold in 2004. I'm now 49.
I love your series where are they now so good to see the giant german
Great interview. Gunter is a class act
Classy guy all the way!!.. met him about 20 years ago at a show.. 👍✌️
What a gentleman
I saw him once in Bern in Switzerland ... he was a guest at the beginning of professionalism .... he was much more enormous than he seemed in the picture, great , ciao Gunter
What a humble and charming guy! Seems so genuine!
Great interview and he beat Ronnie CLEARLY at the '02 Mr Olympia .
What a nice dude!! Wish i saw more of this guy!
Gunter was.one.of the best in the mid 2000s. At his best he.was truly brilliant. Very likeable and great guy.
What a great interview. Really enjoyed this. Glad Gunter is doing well and Family oriented. Thx Shawn Ray and digital muscle
Its good to see Gunter and how he is still doing his thing after all these years.
Good job brother...you are doing us real fans wonders about our bodybuilding heros.
Great interview guys!
''You should have been in the top 2, your posing, symmetry...." - Arnold Schwarzenegger
One of the most awesome bodybuilders ever!
Great interview! Thanks 🙏

Big Gunther! Nice to see him ok too 😎
So cool what you do. I grew up watching all the guys you get.
Keep em coming 👍
He was my favorite. Met him twice. Great guy!
Love the series Shawn!
Love you Gunter! I'm 210 .. im heavy at 5.8. You're amazing.
Gunter sounds like a higher pitched Arnold!
Gunter looks very healthy and his stories are the best.
Excellent video. He still has some serious size 260-270!
Great interview!
I met him and he was super nice.
Love Gunther! Always was a great pro bodybuilder with excellent physique for a 6'2" guy. And he's a good guy who is always pleasant to listen too. I wish him well in whatever he does, but I wish I could still get one of those dumbbell pendants for chain necklaces he created back in the day.
ghunter was 183 -185
Great
Great guy and great interview
Love this kind of videos keep it up champ
Still healthy and active. Looking great for his age. 👍
Real Mr.olympia 2002
No! Ronnie still beat him from the back. Gunther best looking show ever though.
Brian Samuels beat him from the back but lost on all other 6 compulsory poses 🤔 Gunter 6 - Ronnie 1 , Gunter beat him at the Grand Prix aswell
The REAL Supreme Gentleman.
Very impressive body on that man during he's bodybuilding career!

You're a legend Gunter! Hope to hire you one day to help me put on size in bodybuilding.
Met him at the Arnold in 2006. Could not have been nicer or more humble.
He looks great! Kept his hair, still has a nice physique... he aged well for a bodybuilder
Good genes
shawn - why aren’t you mic’d up? can hear Gunter, but muffled on your end. 🎤🔊🙏🙏🙏
Gil Flores completely different altitudes.
Yea the wind noise is pretty bad ...and Shawn sounds like he is underwater

HE'S MY HERO!
I remember my first beer
Sir u r looking handsome.

Remember how Günther looked as a Teenager. He was so good already 💪🏻
...
he still looks big. Especially for his age and he looks well.
Hi Shawn what about getting a interview with Gary strydom?
And mike quinn together haha
Great shout
Then pack your bags, he lives in Thailand.
Politics even in bodybuilding, unbelievable. Gunter and Nasser deserved a Mr. O but politics.
Nassar the oi King? Nope never
Good guy period.
Am a HUGE fan of gunter. Can't watch because audio is bad. :(
Einer der größten Deutschen neben Herrn Rühl 💪🏻
Great video. TOO sad about the terrible audio.
Why they don't become judges after retirement ⁉ they would be better than those we don't see ...
Shawn was probably afraid of Gunter - so he made the interview standing 50 meters away from Gunter. 😆 - or is he sitting in a waste-box?
It social distancing. It revolting
It sick it piss
it coronaeing
He one of the few that still has his hair, all the muscles gone when they stop steroids, keep training natural guys
Gunter is a very nice person he was huge over 300 pounds
Find Terry Pastel, Orville Burke, Charles Clairmont, and fix the sound come on Shawn you're better than that!😜
Please buy a shotgun mic for the episodes you record outside. They aren’t very expensive but will make a huuuuuge difference for the viewers. The audio in this is too low and there’s too much wind noise. Thanks in advance
Awesome, awesome interview. Such a pity about the sound though :-(
Their practicing Social Distancing (COVID 19) he said it one of his other videos. Thats why it's low.
sound too low shawn
♡
Turn the volumn up.
hes so luck lucky lucky lucky
Turn Shawn’s mic up.
He kinda looks like Professor X with hairs😁

The audio is a joke. Right?
wait, what did u say?
Wonderful and inspiring interview. Glad to hear you, Kim and Jake are doing well. Miss you my friend. Let's try and get reconnected. ArmingChampions.com
Dutch guy tested positive, probably Berry de Mey? But howcome the others tested negative....
William Drijver Berry was already retired but the time Gunter arrived.
@@DigitalMuscleTV True, de Mey is 8 years older. Still a bit suspicious about testing in pro BB contests ;-) (Perhaps for diuretics?) Or it could have been a bit like WBF practices....
Dude...volume sucks and constant wind. Surely, you can find a better place to interview?
too bad about the sound
very cool guy, but he really sounds like that goldfish voice from family guy....
I wanna see some muscles.
