This is day 220 of my journey to get to a rating of 2000 on chess.com.
In todays game we played a Jobava London. I feel a bit bad about this one because I was completely winning the entirety. I need to brush up on my simple tactics of how to push an advantage, because I def let this slip out of my hands. Oh well.
So far on the series:
1565 wins 20 draws 126 losses

Take a look at 8:48, your King is trapped, you moved rook f4, but your opponent can position the other rook at b7, double trapping your king, then sacrifice the f6 pawn that you wanted to take, and checkmated you with rook A2, as the B column was guarded. He later made a mistake with A2 check (without covering the B column) and your king was free again. In Those complex cases, when you have two pawns more, just change one of the rooks, as it would be impossible for your opponent to find a trick or trap your king.
@@blogattacker yes, I don't think it crossed my mind in the game
11:03 if we win we get 7 points of material 😂😂😂
@@sanel3888 hahaha mb bro
Great game! I learned a few things about rook end games from watching this. It's incredible that you can calculate, deploy tactics and guess what the other player is going to do. Then explain it to everyone watching at the same time. Mental gymnastics 💪
You're too kind haha, I don't think I'm able to do any of those things particularly well, but I'm glad you enjoy it!
dont be sad, u got the next one, rook endgames are deceptively difficult
@@immortily1673 haha facts
Feel for you buddy, to be fair your opponent defended well and time wasnt on your side. Tough one.
@@Shill360 thanks brother! I'll take it as a lesson, I still can improve a lot
Owen! You consistently see these tactical moves/mistakes seconds after you play your move. You’re seeing things your opponents don’t see
I know you can make it to 2000!!!!
@@jackfriend6559 thanks Jack!! Very encouraging!!
What a back and forth!! Nice try!
It was yeah! Ahh well
look at the bright side... you could have very well have lost at 13:30
True, I'll take what I got! Haha
think of a draw as a free lesson - disappointing but now you have something to build on :)
@@r0bz0rly I'm starting to really see that I need to go after the threats that are on the board. Is such a simple thing but I'm forgetting to do it
excited
@@immortily1673 you've become a big fan haha
@@Blunder_Man yes bro you need more supporters, underrated, good thought process and an analysis board is what everyone needs
@@immortily1673 haha, what we need more than anything is a few more wins on the channel haha
😖😳🤯 bro.
@@snowboyben1978 yes bro
Owen, man, you had a two pawns advantage. You should have won this game...feel bad about this draw((
