Life’s good when see video by gingergm
Alright, something actually good to watch on RUclips!
Thank you Simon. You couldn’t pass up that bishop sacrifice bahaha I love it
Always a fan of your game and commentary
Thank you!
Fun game. And yes, the Elo estimator factors in the rating of both players (if you edit the values in a PGN file, say drop them both to 800 or raise them both to 3000, the estimated rating will drop or rise accordingly).
The algorithm does calculate based on your current rating.
When I analyze some of my good OTB games, I get a rating of 2400-2450. My best games online only evaluates to 1950-2050 because the computer knows my online rating is no higher than 1400.
Simon, thanks for uploading another Speedrun Video.
When I nalayze my games, I get a rating of 2800, but then reality slaps me in the face.
Bxg6 was brilliant!
So that's what it feels like when the opponent is not cheating, hey ? How refreshing.
Always fun and informative!
com's rating estimate thing does calculate based on your current rating. It's a completely meaningless number for this reason among several others. You could make a smurf account at 400, play a perfect game and the thing would probably say you played at 800 level or some nonsense because it won't give too far above the account's rating.
Yeah, it's a really odd feature. Like the basic idea is great but the way it's implemented is meaningless. Maybe it would be too difficult to do it properly, I don't know.
I guess something of value you could take away is whether you're playing above or below your current rating.
Yeah, Remember the Mittens bot had a rating of (1) and it always gave it low estimated rating like 1300 even though it was playing very strong.
Hey Simon great vids, these
Thanks Simon, this game was so much fun. Was hoping to see Charlie and maybe Diesel as well.
Nice game! Enjoyed it!
superb chess content. keep it up!
Simon, as soon as you started discussing the Bxg6 sacrifice, I knew you were going to play it!
Brilliant sacrifice.
Good video
good one 💪
Great video indeed
Been on a huge ginge binge recently! Simon, instead of the crafty bishop sacrifice, why not just a simple Qe5+ which would either win the rook or at least remove castling rights after opponents queen blocks? What did I miss here?
queen would block and his king was still on that file
Was asking myself why he didnt thanks bob
But then Qxe7 and the king has to take back, losing castling rights. Thought that was definitely a better idea than the bishop sac. Guess it's not as "exciting" play but I was surprised Gingey boy didn't even mention it as an idea. @@terrobert
@@MartsMcfly losing castling rights without the queens on the board is barely a disadvantage
@@giacomo5626 fair point
Yes, the rating it gives you is based on your current one. I played a 100% accuracy game in 11 moves the other day (1st time ever!) and it told me I'm a 2000. My actual blitz rating is 1300.
Hi! Which of your Jobava courses would you reccomend? The one on Chessable is the same as here?
I thought you'd do a speed run on the drunken night on acid traveling around the world what's that 1.D4 ?
DVD!!!
At 11:43 did you check what happens after Re8? I see that the knight will pick up the queen and then the rook after he takes your queen, but I'm wondering if you actually calculated that and you didn't mention it (seems quite important) or just relied on intuition with that queen and knight configuration?
I can't be sure of course, but looks straightforward enough for a gm to trivially spot. I think there was just a lot of other things to talk about.
Why not check with the queen and attack the rock forcing him to move king instead of sacking the Bishop?
"I missed that the king could move.." ~ GM Simon Williams. Someone contact the anti-cheating team for further checks on this guy :p
You should be on the stage with that humour.
Bizhop :D
only jobava is the forced win in this board game
Bxg6 shows up as a brilliant move in game review now
I live in Southern California if you ever in Southern California we could meet
whats a dividi?
London sux, ask Andres
Buy a DVD? Seriously?
No, it's an in-joke. It's a "Digital Video Download".
