- Maggots are kinda gross but a very necessary part of our eco system. I mean, Can you imagine if nothing decomposed? The world would be a pretty smelly place.
"Maggot" is not a technical term and should not be taken as such; in many standard textbooks of entomology, it does not appear in the index at all.[3][4] In many non-technical texts, the term is used for insect larvae in general. Other sources have coined their own definitions; for example: "The term applies to a grub when all trace of limbs has disappeared"[5] and "Applied to the footless larvae of Diptera".[6] Additionally, in Flies: The Natural History and Diversity of Diptera, the author claims maggots "are larvae of higher Brachycera (Cyclorrhapha)."[7]
Maggot-like fly larvae are of significance in ecology and medicine; among other roles, various species are prominent in recycling carrion and garbage, attacking crops and foodstuffs, spreading microbial infections, and causing myiasis. Maggots are also particularly important in forensic entomology because their development can help determine the time of death, particularly maggots in the Calliphoridae family.[8]
As with fleas and ticks, maggots can be a threat to household pets and livestock, especially sheep. Flies reproduce rapidly in the summer months, and maggots can come in large numbers, creating a maggot infestation and a high risk of myiasis (a maggot infestation of living tissue) in sheep and other animals. Humans are not immune to the feeding habits of maggots and can also contract myiasis. Interaction between humans and maggots usually occurs near garbage cans, dead animals, rotten food and other breeding grounds for maggots.
When maggots turn into adult flies and start the life cycle over, numbers will grow exponentially if unchecked, but disease, natural predators and parasites keep the population under control. Sealing garbage and using a garbage disposal or freezing rotting leftovers until waste collection day helps prevent infestation. Introducing an environmental control, such as Hister beetles, can also help reduce maggot populations.

I have a phobia of maggots. It's a bit embarrassing, but I'm not joking

It is a very different sort of beauty. But one cannot help but admire how thorough they are, what hungry artists and sculptors they are.
okay i actually can't stand maggots. i know the facts that they're neccessary, but it's disturbing in deep level
i saw a bunch in my green waste bin. poured water over them and spilled them into my compost pile. dont know what happened, but it was absurd and gross and smelly.
What do you think happens to a human body when it's buried. Cremation is the best way to dispose of any body whether it be animal or human.
Not really, it requires a massive amount of energy. Anything that allows decomposition works best, because the nutrients get used straight away instead of being burnt into heat that provides no additional benefit. It is far better than embalming though.
Or alkaline hydrolysis, water cremation
Most of us get buried my guy
@@HandsomeBoyGarion More and more people are choosing cremation as burying is so expensive.
Coffin flies can break in coffins
@@marcodipietro8835 no they can’t you will be underneath the ground they can’t get to you
Definitely would not want to go near that. The smell would definitely make me sick to my stomach. 🤢

MAGGOT...... PERCHE' ???!!
Thats why in Hinduism no body is buired but rather its burnt alive which actually a ritual and sacred process and its fascinating better than buring someone which will be eaten after sometimes
What's exactly good in that?
Disrupting natural processes?
That’s crazy
Slipknot reference?
