    I know its redundant because the fork only went for a couple of years but I wonder how it would have performed with a 12mm rod, traditional u seal and and maintaining the 4cs with better than ktm valving. Great video

    @shock treatment it would be good to see the benefits and differences between the results from sphere cartridges and the ray kit. Are the drop in cartridges that much better over the kit etc

      @shocktreatment5495  Год назад +3

      The Sphere cartridge was designed with the intent of being the best cartridge you could buy. The Ray kit was designed to overcome the problems with the 4cs cartridge and promote performance from this particular concept. The Sphere will win hands down.

    Do you have a recommended baseline valve build for Ray Kit with the conversion? Working on a set of forks that’s all sort of messed up and would like to get it to a good baseline.

    • @shocktreatment5495
      @shocktreatment5495  Год назад +1

      The base valve needs to be considerably stiffer once you make the conversion. You have to understand that you are removing the pressure chamber from the overall force value thereby reducing the resistance. We usually valve the kits for our customers prior to sale. Have you spoken to the people you purchased the kit from?

      @@shocktreatment5495 the kit was previously installed in the bike. I’m fixing it for a friend and the bike is used. I’ve compared the shims to the data sheet provided by Dal Soggio, and it’s been tampered with by someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. I’d also like to do away with the factory fault and make it more reliable by doing the conversion. Not sure if you guys sell build sheets or can provide a baseline for this type of thing.

      I just sent an email, probably better to communicate through that!

    How can I get in contact with you to discuss valve dampening changes after doing these modifications? I have 4cs forks with race tech gold valves on 2016 350sxf. 170lb rider

    Do you still put the oil in from the bottom after the no seal mod?
    This is something I could do real quick to try
    I have gold valve’s will I have to make changes them in order for the to work?
    I’m wanting to try your method before I move to the extreme which is converting a set of Showa forks I have off an 05 cr250 to the bike (2014 KTM 300xc GNCC b class)

      You could use the same qty as you always have and pour it in the bottom if you wish. You will need to have the cap in place though. The valving will have to be made firmer

    I have a dal soggio ray kit for my 2015 KTM 350sxf and want to remove the o ring and seal to go to a non pressurized system like you recommended. However, I do not see any valving difference on my sheet for closed chambered (pressurized) vs open chambered (non pressurized) for the ray kit. Any recommendations or does their provided valving working either way? Thanks!

      It needs to get considerably stiffer on the comp valve. If you give me a call I will suggest a baseline for you.

    Does removing the base valve change the amount of oil you put into the forks?

    • @shocktreatment5495
      @shocktreatment5495  Год назад +2

      We are not removing the base valve. We remove the upper cartridge seal and o-ring. This has a minimal effect on oil volume. Having said that....any alteration in internal volume needs to be catered for. Any decent tuner places their priority on "Air Volume" and adjusts oil quantity to suit.

    I sent you my 4cs in 2016 for my 350sxf.. Is this the same up grade that would have been done
    Was far better than stock but got a hell of a head shake on decel 😬 could not find a setting I liked on that ktm not matter what i did so i sold it went back to jap bikes

    • @shocktreatment5495
      @shocktreatment5495  2 года назад +2

      We probably weren't doing the "Open Chamber" conversion at that stage. Development is an evolutionary process. Headshake on the KTMs was largely due to a lack of trail compared to that of the Jap bikes. Have a look at our handlebar videos. They explain (and cure) a lot about headshake and offer an opportunity at no cost to upgrade the feeling of control on any bike....not just the Euros
