    I have been a fan of his since early 70's. I still have his first album. Seen him dozens of times in concert over the years. What I like about his playing is that it is very clean and articulate. Additionally, he is extremely gifted in complex and interesting melodies and counterpoint. Truly an amazing and blessed player!

    Following Phil from 70's til present. Watched him grow into one of the top 5 guitarists in the world. A true master of the acoustic fretboard. So many mind numbing instrumental acoustic records. He simply stands alone with his own unique Style, phrasing, and Technical ability. Did I mention the man can sing like a bird? Plus he has the best asset ever the anointing from our creator.... ❤️ U PK

    His music is timeless. His ability is off the charts. He is personable and shares his methodology with us commoners and He gives credit to the Maker of the Universe for his talents.

      I began listening to his music in '79. That anointing has always been there, and thank God it remains.

    Phil is a hoot to watch...what a talent....I only hope I can close...I do lead scales but no looping I could loop...and my times coming but Phil he's a world by himself...I try to follow his leads...but he passes me way ahead...what a joy to even try..

      Trust me. Its amazing to know how he does it. I've met him! Georgia, at some church in Canton. MAN. he signed my guitar, I got to talk to him for a good 30 mins. Good guy!

    First saw Phil w/Glass Harp down at The Ohio State University(71). Seen him a few times over the years, a truly gifted & humorous human, love watching him perform.

      One of the greatest. There are many great guitarist, im overjoyed Phil is a believer. I love Jeff Beck, he is another amazing guitarist. His live in Toyko dvd is awesome.

    The first part he does before the rhythm comes in reminds me of the end of Going to CA, where they are singing all the AAAH's.

    The stuff he does right after the "CHING" makes me think of Stephen Stills on Bluebird! That was nice stuff! I also saw a guy on trombone (of all things) do some very cool loop work on you tube!

    Placing a capo that far from the fret is usually only successful when you have minimal string height (action). Even then, it is bending a string or two out of tune (hence the tuning adjustments he is making). Only mentioning this in case people with less-than-lowest of action try to place their capo so far from the edge of a fret and are annoyed by the intonation issues.

      I think he uses at least one Kyser capo, and he uses the Pigtronix Infinity looper.
