I think it would be pretty interesting if you made a psa video on how card packs from Walmart/Target are sometimes tempered with. It's actually pretty interesting how deep the rabbit hole goes. It seems like the people who work at those places look up which cards are the rare and valuable cards in each set, pick them and then re-seal each pack and sell them as if nothing happened. A lot of people seem to know this but it's not often discussed. Not only that, but this is a big problem, so big that it extends to other communities like Magic the Gathering, Pokémon TCG and even baseball cards, yes, even savvy baseball cards collectors know not to get their packs from those chains of stores because of the possibility of packs being tempered with. (On a side note, LittleKuriboh, the creator of YuGiOh Abridged, experienced this issue first hand too)
I haven't experienced this yet but now that I know this, I'll be sure to check packs thoroughly and buy from places that aren't walmart/target when I get the chance to.
@@f.e.a.rsarge840 the box had a return label on it. A customer bought and returned Unless employee bought and retured but i dont think they want to make a paper trail back to them selves
To those culprits that steal. When we find you, we'll beat you up & send you to court. What the store could do is re-watch the surveillance cameras to catch the criminals.
9:50, I agree with Chris, y’all really should do a video on stolen/resealed cards at chain stores. Like others have said, this issue is HUGE and it’s not just limited to Yugioh, so it’s definitely a growing problem. Another reason to supporting LGS
This explains why the cards are right by the express checkout lanes at my walmart so that the cashier is right in front...but he/she would be too focused on the customer so what's the point? It also makes it VERY hard for me to browse sometimes T_T
@@f.e.a.rsarge840 Not only that. From what I heard during the time was that kids would hide packs in their pockets. Go to the restroom. Open them in a stall and flush down all the trash in the toilet.
I love this idea guys! Me and my partner sort of do this, we separate the monsters, spells and traps mix them up on the floor and pick one at a time and make a deck a duel! :) can you do something like this again :) oh and sucks you got conned a bit, know that feeling :( take care guys :)
Random sealed product decks be like how it would be like if Yu-Gi-Oh! was a common thing like in the series (manga/show). Random "crap" that's your soul of your deck. I like these types of videos, it's just straight fun and nostalgic. Also, YGO Police, now!
I only recently not too long ago found you guys, really enjoy the content. I was big into Yugioh when it first aired, but I wasn't an avid player or collector (Nobody around that even knew what it was) so I eventually just stopped following it throughout the years. Your videos made me want to get back into collecting some again, I recently bought a Spirit Charmers Structure deck online since I really enjoy their art, I know they aren't very good but I'm not gonna be dueling anyway. So when that package finally came into the mail and I opened it up, it happened to me. The UR-variant art version of the Familiar-Possessed was missing, nowhere to be found. 41 cards out of 42. So when you guys opened up those packs and all the rares were gone, I felt that. It just happened to me. A remarkable start to getting back into it, I must say. The box didn't even have any visible signs of tampering, I couldn't even tell that it was. The box was sealed (perhaps, a little TOO sealed, are structure decks glued THAT much?) and the deck was sealed.
So what probably happened with the stolen packs was, someone bought the packs, took the rares, re-sealed the box and then returned them to the store and the store just put them back out without checking lmao
You should show the video of the already opened packs to walmart upper management or something, it shows that the employees are the ones doing this as they reseal everything before its on the shelf.
That happened to me when I got from target, the employees open them and re-seal them since they have the tools with them. I made a post about it on my Instagram too. I HATE BUYING FROM TARGET/WALMART any big store sellers
it's actually really common and not just employees. Someone would buy it, cut open the bottom, steal the stuff and glue it back up and return it to the store as "sealed". See it happen a lot with Magic decks where the face card of the deck is stolen and replaced with a common
This is a very common problem when buying cards from some Walmart/Target. The people who work there open the packs, take out the rare cards (and also confirm those cards are the most valuable ones in each set) and re-seal the packs and sell them as if they were brand new. Not only that, it's not unique to YuGiOh; If you speak to other communities, you'll see the problem extends to Magic, Pokémon and even baseball cards, yes, even baseball cards collectors know not to get their collectibles from walmart/target.
Honestly, I thinkg getting battle packs or speed duel packs would be the way to go with this, its a lot better and more consistently useful than the archetypal hodge-podge
That is some scumbag shit. I'll be 100% honest here, I used to shoplift Yugioh cards, straight up just walk out with them. But I NEVER re-sealed shit and returned it. Now you're not only stealing from Walmart, you're actually stealing from other people who spend their money on your returned opened product... Like seriously if you're gonna steal Yugioh cards just straight up steal them, don't repackage shit and then scam other people.
Im pretty sure this is happening on the resellers packaging line. I'm in Philly and have had that happen from walmart packs several times. Never had that problem from any other merchant. Whole reason i say its from the resellers staff is that i've had that problem with the sealed cardboard multipacks as well. Packs were opened but the blister was pristine. No way a customer did it.
They went through so much effort too. They didn't just tear it open in the store and bounce. They bought, took it home(?), opened it up carefully, took the good stuff, glued it back shut so it would look unopened, then went back to Walmart and returned it. That's some next level bullshit.
They do it with Pokémon cards too. One person bought a bunch of these pin sets and when he opened them he noticed that the packs were resealed as well as the box. The person did a “nice” job on it. Best to record your opening to prove to the store they were tampered with if it occurs.

Theres this format in Magic the Gathering called Cube, where a big pool of pre selected cards exists in the middle and each player "drafts" 3 packs each. Then pick one card from their pack, and pass the rest of the pack around. Then you build a deck from the cards you drafted. The cool thing about it is that you can create the Cube from cards and bulk you already own and you can theme it however you like. Maybe you guys should give that a try? Build Cubes with archetypes, expensive cards, cheap cards, just commons, whatever you want. Plus you dont have to buy new cards.
