@@Tasmetu yes sono watched RUclips second video also now. I just wonder why so many if you are YouTubing how fabulous it is but then you don’t want anyone to go there? Why didn’t you just stay in Germany then?

@@dumvivimus If you watch the "My Story" videos, you will understand my personal path. And if you don't, that's fine, too.
Also, as I said at the end of my video about the negatives, I am not against people moving to the Azores in general. If they are willing to embrace the culture, respect the locals & contribute to the economy or at least the society of the place. If people only come here to chill out in the summer, they should not buy houses or land.
Also, no place is paradise. I will not bullsh*t people watching my content and tell them that everything here is perfect. No place is. Not Azores, not Germany, not anywhere. To ignore the negatives and only speak about the positives would be dishonest.

@@Tasmetu You kinda messed up on the "do not come here..." thing. That is not a good advice, not to say that it sounds too demanding. I know what you meant to say, but you can't tell people not to come to Azores, for no reason whatsoever. If I want to buy a summer house in Azores, I will, as long as I'm willing to respect the laws, and that is enough. You are smart and well educated, I'm sure you understand that you didn't nuance well enough your thought and some people got triggered about it. You pretty much asked people not to be selfish, but you didn't wrap up well enough your wonderful intentions behind it. I'm really sorry that you blocked the comment section of that video, it would've been entertaining for me to read it, hehe. All good! 🤗

Hello , I am so glad today I was searching utube and heavens you told me just what I needed to hear. I was watching the other video on things you don’t like about the Azores, please don’t stop reading what I am about to say… because I was born on Faial island in 1956 , my Mother and Father had a cute little house on Praia du Almoxarife, a 5 minute walk to the beach. My father imigrated to Canada in 1957 by himself. My Mother and me stayed behind went through a year of massive volcano explosions , then imigrated to Canada in 1958. They left the house behind and I think its 2 acres of land. They rented it dirt cheap then to a cousin who took such good care of it like it was their own. Now lets go from here , I have been back more than 6 times and slowly but surely consumerism and so many houses are taking their toll in nature snd peoples lives. I was so upset walking in the beach at the disregard for natureI would take s garbage bag to the beach snd collect garbage. Long story short, the house is still there , last time I went was in 2015 no one lives in it, I was born in that house , I am told the roof needs work, and there is mold inside. I have a. Sibling who half of the house and land belongs to. Who doesn’t really care about it , and doesn’t want to put money into fixing it. I do want to fix it , but would have to take out a loan here to do so, I know people have been asking ( the gossip ) is she going to sell? Heck no not if I have to … I know they would probably build some monstrosity in its place just for money making. I see the changes I don’t like them last time I was there I mentioned it snd was told well don’t you want us to do well ? Of. Coarse I do , but not at the cost of destroying this beautiful island for money. I was thinking if it was fixed up nothing fancy clean and in good working condition, I could rent it cheap so as you said the homes need to be lived in 365 , days a year. Sure wouldn’t mind your opinion on this , I totally agreed with all you said in that video, and I think you were brave to tell the truth… thank-you for your honesty and it was said in a way with love and passion for our islands …and sure would love to hear from you … my e mail … andradehelia7@gmail.com was planning to go in 2023 … hope it works out … take care.

Hey Helia, thank you for sharing your story with me. I am not sure if you wanted this comment to be public? Especially with your mailaddress? Everybody can read & see it. Let me know if I should take it down.
Regarding your house, I cannot help you with a decision. Not everyone will built something bigger and unauthentic, some people really want to continue the traditions and just rebuild old houses to make them their home. However, it could also be turned into a tourist place that is not in alignment with what you want. I think it just depends who you are selling it too.

I'm from the north of the UK and we don't really get high temperatures as we have hills on 3 sides then the North sea to the east of us so hot weather for us is maybe 25c for 2 days then rain... That happens a few times a year... The humidity is hard work ! Our winters are wet and the humidity is bad too... We have a log burner to try dry out the house and to dry clothing.. we also run 3 dehumidifiers to stop the walls running with water!!!!! Bleach in water rubbed on walls works a treat! Kills that black mould!
